  Hi - I got a new computer and tried to erase the hard drive on my old Toshiba laptop for sale on. It is a Toshiba A-210 and is about three years old.

However, the instructions don't match the options given, I did something where I thought I was wiping the HARD drive. It seemed to go ok, but when I tried to start it again, it loads a black screen type "MS-DOS" asking for a password.

  The BIOS password is used to protect the settings of the BIOS against unwanted changes. If you have forgotten your password, you can use this jumper to reset password settings.

  To clear the password BIOS follow these steps:
  
  1 turn off the POWER the computer and unplug the power cord.

  2. Locate the jumper marked CLEARLY P.W.

  3. move the jumper on the PSWD jumper on pins 3-1.

  4 wait about 10 seconds, and then return the jumper to pins 5-3.

  5. connect the power cord and turn on the computer.

  6 hold down the F10 key during the boot process to enter the BIOS setup. You will not be asked a password.
