Toshiba NB505-N500BL - DDR2 or DDR3 memory

I just bought a NB505-N500BL.
I checked the label of netbook, and it doesn't have a D3.

The module of memory installed is a Hynix 1 gb 2Rx16 PC2 - 6400 S-666-12.
What is DDR2 or DDR3.

The guy at Best Buy told me to replace it with DDR3, but they had not at that time here.
I read that some come with DDR3 others not and I want to make sure that I get good memory.

Hello

Hynix 1 gb 2Rx16 PC2 - 6400 S-666-12 is the DDR2 module.

But as far as I know this laptop supports a single memory so you will need to take the old module and will need to insert another module.
But I put t see no big reasons to replace the memory.

OK, if you want to upgrade the memory up to 2 GB of RAM, so it would be to buy modules such as:
Toshiba 2GB PC2 - 6400 DDR2 - 800 MHz Module
Kingston KTT800D2 / 2G 2GB 800 MHz Module

Here is a piece of hardware specifications:

I have a NB505-N500BL with 2 GB of memory installed and works correctly. Has been running very slow when browsing with IE 8 and to give birth to tie 9. It was good running office 2007 and office 2010 but sometimes slow there too.

Tried CCleaner, malwarebites, windows security sw and combofix. I downloaded the latest drivers and bios of the Toshiba site. Still wasn't right.

I recently put in a new installation of win 7 64 and the system works better, but not really upward where it is very user friendly. I would use as my carry with me computer to use for most products of MS office, email and search the Web. I do not play games on the computer but do Watch youtube videos and listen to music.

T1 are there any procedures that I can follow to make sure that all my sw and hw parameters are set to optimize performance?

T2, I have a new copy of Windows XP pro/SP3 installation disc. I was wondering if it would be a better option for me to use on this computer. As I am only wanting to have good performance in the office and browsing the web, I'm not so worried win 7 new capabilities. Just do not have slow windows. Are there drivers in support of win XP on my computer?

Q3 perhaps should be the question 1, but would win 8 work best on this machine?

Thanks for the help. I know that this is not a power machine, I have a Toshiba satellite with dual core that does very well on my calculation of heavy, but I think this NB505 can be a great wear around if I can get it tuned toward the top right.

    > Q1 are there any procedures that I can follow to make sure that all my sw and hw parameters are set to optimize performance?

For the most part the downturns in the system because of the high amount of process running in the background.
You can easily check which processes loading when the laptop starts up. Start MSCONFIG (under search type msconfig) and go to the Startup tab.

Here you can browse the list and can disable each process that does not need to be loaded at the beginning.
Google for more details if you n t knows exactly what a process is doing.

Win XP is OS smart and sympathetic performance as a Win 7. Win XP does not have a better performance of hardware like Win 7. So, theoretically, Win XP should run smoother

    > Q3 perhaps should be the question 1, but would win 8 work best on this machine?
No, the Win 8 is a successor of Win 7 and it should the also a performance of good components.
But please don t understand wrong use of Win 7 and Win 8 should also be possible, but the question is: what performance you expect

    Hello

    I phoned every retailer and make contact there, but no body seems to know;

What type is the GPU in the A200-1F9, GDDR2 or GDDR3?

I think the hardware is the al even over Europe, isn t it? With C2D T7300, 2 GB Ram, 250 Gb HD AND ATI Radeon HD 2600 w / 256 MB of VRAM.

But the thing that no Forum and 'professional' staff is able to answer is whether it's DDR2 or DDR3.

So please, make my day and help me. Because I m getting pretty aggravated?

    Hello

The Satellite Pro A200-1F9 belongs to the series of PSAE7E and it s a part number: PSAE7E-007004N5. Am I wrong?

The laptop comes with the graphics card from ATI Mobility Radeon X 2600 (sometimes called the Radeon HD 2600).
    The code name is M76.

So I searched for + ATI Radeon X 2600 code M76 name + and found these GPU specifications:

    Video memory-> external with TurboCache

    _Video memory Capacity_
    Local cache 256MB / 512MB
    _HyperMemory Capacity_
    0MB@sys RAM 512 MB
    256MB@sys RAM 1024MB

Please note that the * total * video memory is * sum * of _locale cache_ and _Hyper Memory_!

    _Bus Width_

It seems that this card is compatible with both of them; GDDR2 & GDDR3
    This is what I found.

My Satellite L500-19Z does support DDR3 memory?

In my view, it has 4 GB (2x2gb 200 pin 1.8 v DDR2 SoDimm PC2-6400) memory standard (800 MHz I think). I want to move to 8 GB and I saw the following offer: -.

    8 GB (2x4gb) 1333 Mhz PC3-10600 memory Kit.

    My laptop will support it?

    I hope someone can help.

    Concerning

    > My Satellite L500-19Z does support DDR3 memory?
    Say the user manual?
    Did you check that?

The support of memory depends on the chipset.
If the chipset does not support DDR3 so you cannot use it.
The chipset is Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and AFAIK that support DDR2 800 MHz 8 GB max memory chipset.

  • OptiPlex 960 - can he use DDR3 memory?

I recently bought a lease Optiplex Dell 960MT.  It came with 2 GB memory DDR2, I need to increase.  I can get 8 GB of DDR3 for the same price as the 4 GB of DDR2 memory DDR2 prices are much higher than for DDR3 RAM.  According to the service manual Dell Optiplex 96, in 960 Opti chipset is 'Chipset Intel Q45 Express w/ICH10DO' http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/desktop-optiplex-960-technical-guidebook-en.pdf . According to the specifications of Intel for the 960 Opti chipset, it can use DDR3 memory http://ark.intel.com/products/36527/82Q45-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller-Hub.  So, I found a few retailers who sell a refurbed Opti 960 which, claim, have the DDR3 memory in them http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Professional-Professionally-Refurbished-Refurbisher/dp/B0057GPUXE.  So is the Optiplex 960 able to use DDR3 and, if it is, what specs?

    Fails in a DDR2 DDR3 slot.

If the two are the exact same length and the number of pins, they have a different architecture.

Also the "notch" on the cylinder is in a different location, so you can't physically put DDR2 ram in one slot of DDR3, or vice versa.

    Hello

I have a Toshiba NB505 Netbook and I think I do something wrong, or our netbook isn't in it. While trying to play HD/BR movies on our off netbook a file on VLC media player, it plays all nervous and pixelated. Simply very bad as you can't see what is displayed on the film. Is there a graphics option I need to change in VLC or something? I like to watch movies here at least.

    Thank you

A few days ago I BD rip of my brother. I want to watch using VLC player, but I noticed the same thing. I was quite frustrated and angry because VLC is my favorite player, but I tested it with Windows media player and I was surprised that everything was OK.

Can you please test it too?

I am awaiting delivery of a new office of h8 - 11520t want the chip generation with third i 7. It comes with a chip memory 8 gb DDR3 1600 MHz.

I have read that the DDR3 memory is two memory channels and only works using both channels if the chips of memory are installed in pairs. This single chip in my new computer will be slower due to having only a single chip; should I order a second chip?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hello

You will certainly have a performance advantage if use you 2 x 8 GB Modules and I recommend certainly - your PC will have a maximum of 32 GB Ram (IE 4 x 8 GB Modules).  16 GB is a good compromise, since it offers a nice amount of memory running in dual channel, while the 2 empty slots for better cooling.

    Hello:

Have you tried to install a new module of memory?

If so, you probably have a memory DDR3 1.5 volts.

You must ensure that the memory you put in this machine is DDR3L (1.35 volts).

    Hello world

I got my T400 off ebay last week, and I do not know if my T400 has installed because I had this T400 (2767bk1) DDR3 memory for $800 and it seems new, but in an open package. I'm here to ask for your help, maybe there is a software that can perform a test to determine the type of installed memory card. Please let me know if there is a solution, thank you.

    Welcome to the forum!

the T400 can accept as DDR3 modules.   no other module does physically fit in the slot.

  • Unlike DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 RAM

    Hi guys.

My office was very old since 2004 until now I still use it, my RAM is 1 GB DDR RAM only. But I have a question, if I buy the 4 GB DDR3 or DDR2 RAM for upgrade to my computer, it can support DDR, DDR2 or DDR3?

    Hope will understand.

You buy RAM suitable for your motherboard. DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 have a physical mechanism that prevents the insertion in a slot that is intended for another type of RAM.

Search RAM for your PC. I've never seen a motherboard which had slots for the different generations of DDR RAM, for example, where you can use either DDR or DDR2, but this does not mean that there is no such a motherboard.

Kingston and Crucial are advisers on their Web sites.
