Unlike DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 RAM

Hi guys.

My office was very old since 2004 until now I still use it, my RAM is 1 GB DDR RAM only. But I have a question, if I buy the 4 GB DDR3 or DDR2 RAM for upgrade to my computer, it can support DDR, DDR2 or DDR3?

Hope will understand.

You buy RAM suitable for your motherboard. DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 have a physical mechanism that prevents the insertion in a slot that is intended for another type of RAM.

Search RAM for your PC. I've never seen a motherboard which had slots for the different generations of DDR RAM, for example, where you can use either DDR or DDR2, but this does not mean that there is no such a motherboard.

Kingston and Crucial are advisers on their Web sites.

  • Dell OptiPlex 760 ultra small form factor possible to add ddr3 ram?

    Hello world

I have an old OptiPlex 760 ultra small form factor, and I just installed 10 windows, which runs most of the time without a hitch.

This OptiPlex 760 has a processor Intel Core Duo E8600 in there. I've been googling and if I understand correctly, this processor supports ddr2 and ddr3 ram. Does this mean that I can put ddr3 ram in this machine?

I also wonder if I add more than 4 GB of ram to it. I know officially it says max ram supported is 4 GB, but if I look at my MacBook it says max supported ram is 8 GB and I have 16 GB in it.

So I wonder if this is the case even with my OptiPlex.

    Thank you.

I put ddr3 ram in this machine?

It depends on the chipset and since Crucial offers only DDR2 RAM for this system...

It may or may not work with more than 4 GB. Look so all about these forums to see if anyone succeeded with more than 4 GB. At the very least, buy it from a source so it takes 8 GB does not work.

And do not compare apples and...

  • Toshiba NB505-N500BL - DDR2 or DDR3 memory

    I just bought a NB505-N500BL.
I checked the label of netbook, and it doesn't have a D3.

    The module of memory installed is a Hynix 1 gb 2Rx16 PC2 - 6400 S-666-12.
    What is DDR2 or DDR3.

The guy at Best Buy told me to replace it with DDR3, but they had not at that time here.
I read that some come with DDR3 others not and I want to make sure that I get good memory.

    Hello

    Hynix 1 gb 2Rx16 PC2 - 6400 S-666-12 is the DDR2 module.

But as far as I know this laptop supports a single memory so you will need to take the old module and will need to insert another module.
But I put t see no big reasons to replace the memory.

OK, if you want to upgrade the memory up to 2 GB of RAM, so it would be to buy modules such as:
    Toshiba 2GB PC2 - 6400 DDR2 - 800 MHz Module
    Kingston KTT800D2 / 2G 2GB 800 MHz Module

  • Satellite Pro P300-1AY - can it be upgraded to DDR3 RAM?

    I currently have 3 072 (2 048 + 1 024) MB | maximum extension: 8 192 MB / technology: DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)

    And I was wondering if it could be upgraded to 4 096 (2 048 + 2 048) MB / DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz).

    Hello!

No, you can upgrade to t mobile with DDR3 RAM. The point is that these modules do not fit into the RAM slots, and they have different specifications.

If you want to upgrade the RAM to 4 GB, you must purchase DDR2-RAM. You can buy each desired production, but I have good experiences with the Kingston modules.

And you already know the requirements for the 4 GB? You need a 64 bit OS to use it! ;)

  • Satellite A350-22Z: DDR2 vs DDR3 + vista 32-bit to 64-bit win7

I have two questions. The first is when I checked my pc on cpu - z features, I discovered that the mobo has intel pm45 chipset. now when I looked pm45 specs. on intel web site it says that it takes support 667 MHz or 800 MHz DDR2 dual channel until 8Gigs and also 800 MHz or 1066 MHz DDR3 double channel until 8Gigs so that means I can replace my 4Gigs of DDR2 800 MHz RAM (2 + 2 configuration) with DDR3 1066 MHZ RAM 4Gigs(or more but lets stick with 4) (als 2 + 2 config.)? And if it is possible, that means that when I do tahat, the warranty is voided?

My second question is (in fact, she has two parts) my OS is Vista Home premium 32-bit and I bought win7 upgrade (from toshiba) which said 32/64-bit (also home premium) then can I switch from vista 32 bit win7 64-bit? In fact I wanted 64-bit OS, but my laptop was preinsalled with only 32 bit OS and lacked English option or in Turkish, i.e. choice of 64-bit operating system. So if I use HDD recovery can I turn into 64-bit while I would have no problem switch to win7 64-bit?

    Thanks for your help.

The chipset can handle this, but there might be a limitation of the BIOS, which means that the BIOS recognise no more RAM. In the worst case your laptop wouldn't boot.
I m not very well if the BIOS can handle more than 4 GB of RAM, you should test it I m very interesting on the results

Why do you want a Vista upgrade to Windows 7?
You can do a fresh install of Windows 7. In my opinion, it's a better option, and this will help to avoid some compatibility issues with Vista preinstalled applications.

  • Satellite Pro A200 (GE) - 1F9 DDR2 or DDR3?

    Hello

    I phoned every retailer and make contact there, but no body seems to know;

What type is the GPU in the A200-1F9, GDDR2 or GDDR3?

I think the hardware is the al even over Europe, isn t it? With C2D T7300, 2 GB Ram, 250 Gb HD AND ATI Radeon HD 2600 w / 256 MB of VRAM.

But the thing that no Forum and 'professional' staff is able to answer is whether it's DDR2 or DDR3.

So please, make my day and help me. Because I m getting pretty aggravated?
And send a copy to ATI, Toshiba Sweden and every retailer who have this model.

    Hello

The Satellite Pro A200-1F9 belongs to the series of PSAE7E and it s a part number: PSAE7E-007004N5. Am I wrong?

The laptop comes with the graphics card from ATI Mobility Radeon X 2600 (sometimes called the Radeon HD 2600).
    The code name is M76.

So I searched for + ATI Radeon X 2600 code M76 name + and found these GPU specifications:

    Video memory-> external with TurboCache

    _Video memory Capacity_
    Local cache 256MB / 512MB
    _HyperMemory Capacity_
    0MB@sys RAM 512 MB
    256MB@sys RAM 1024MB

Please note that the * total * video memory is * sum * of _locale cache_ and _Hyper Memory_!

    _Bus Width_
    128bit@256MB (GDDR2) Local Cache
    128bit@512MB (GDDR2) Local Cache
    128bit@256MB (GDDR3) Local Cache
    256bit@256MB (GDDR3) Local Cache

It seems that this card is compatible with both of them; GDDR2 & GDDR3
    This is what I found.

Safari maxes in a version of Mac OS x.  New version of Mac OS x would be needed for the new version of Safari.

Firefox is not limited within an OSX and probably has a version that works.  Chrome may as well but is a Devourer of resources.  Opera is a third option.

  • Pavilion dv6600ev: I would like to replace the HARD drive and the RAM in my HP laptop. I want to check compatibility

Hello guys. I would like to replace the HARD drive and the RAM in my HP laptop. I would check the compatibility. For the momemt, I have 2 x 512 MB of RAM and a 160 GB HARD drive. Does anyone know the type of RAM (DDR1 or DDR2 most) and the accepted maximum capacity. Also the SATA port is a SATA I? Besides, I'm going to change the operating system (preferably in Win 7) so is there a driver?

You can install DDR2-800 modules and they are the most widely available at this point, but the memory will run at 667 mhz speed.

If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

You can download HP Performance Advisor and run it on your Z230, then read the configuration report and determine the type of memory DIMM is installed.

  • use 64-bit for what is faster our pc or games? using 64-bit 4 GB ddr3 ram can I fast performance or using 32-bit 4 GB ddr3 ram also gives the same speed?

    Hello!

I am a bigger fan of microsoft and want to work with you all but my age is not perfect for working with you all, so, for now I just know every thing about windows...

    (1) use 64-bit 4 GB ddr3 ram me gives better performance than 32-bit...

    (2) is of 32-bit is good for the day of work and game performance...

    (3) I am using windows 7 ultimate

    Thanks for the answer...

With only 4 GB it is not to change to 64-bit because it actually uses the more than 32-bit ram.

  • I need to upgrade my Mac (MacBook white unibody mid 2010) with a SSD (and iMac mid-2010) and the RAM and SSD

I need to upgrade my Mac (white unibody MacBook mid-2010) with a SSD (and iMac mid-2010) and the RAM and SSD: I look to buy upgrades site Crucial and OWC site and there is a little difference, in terms of money: it's better to buy the Crucial site or OWC site.

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

    < re-titled by host >

They have good tools to find compatible parts for your Mac models.  The OWC took is here

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/MyOWC/

OWC tends to have the most detailed information on the Mac.  If I look to the top of the part to OWC and review specifications.  OWC offers often information based on the Mac-specific tests.  If Crucial offer something similar for a substantially lower price, buy it from Crucial.  I'm sure they have a refund is not political, if a part they say is compatible.  I bought the RAM and SSD both Crucial and OWC.  From my experience, be it high quality.

For the 2010 iMac, OWC also offers a "kit" (with the tools and support) to replace the hard drive of 3.5 inches with a 2.5-inch SSD.  Eventually, if it's a 27-inch iMac, I think that you can Add the SSD instead of replace the hard drive.  And they have self-produced how-to videos on the process, related to many of their lists of products.  OWC provides a lot of information with added value and service for Mac users.

OWC also offers kits to replace the optical drive on some Macs (including MacBooks) with an SSD (as a secondary internal drive).
