  I bought the T420 PowerEdge with a single SATA drive. I've added 3 more to max on internally wired to 4

  I wonder, do I ALSO have to add the hot swap 2.5 or 3.5 and all have work. I guess I have to buy a special raid card if it is at all possible.

  I want to be able to do is have the 4 cables + start adding the other 2.5 or 3.5 (based on price) and build slowly upward.

  So the question is the chassis are actually different by the selected option.

• Lenovo T420 with multiple questions

  I recently bought a T420 used for around $740 CDN - i7, 8 GB of RAM, 320 HARD drive WIN7PRO

  It has several issues, but since it is still under warranty, I thought I'd take a chance and buy it.

  Questions:

  -defective fan (makes great plaintive sound)

  -white spot (halo) on the lower left of the screen visible on white background

  -the apparent defects in the bezel, the lid and palmrest

  -keyboard has flex/elbows in when I type

  -hinges make noises

  I don't know if the repair depot will replace the damaged parts of cosmetically, but hopefully (I wrote them a nice letter asking them to replace the parts, even if it means I have to pay for them).

  One thing I noticed is that it takes about a minute or two to start windows with the preloaded operating system Lenovo WIN7PRO. I don't know if a clean install of normal windows help or maybe add in an SSD. What do you think guys?

  First Im happy new owner of T420 laptop computer with processor i5 - 2520 m, second hand one, but I hope it's all good

• T420 & Windows 8 questions.

  Greetings to the community.

  I would write some of the issues I'm facing after installing windows 8 on my T420.

  I bought the laptop in August with windows 7... then somewhere around early November, I upgraded to Windows 8.

  I met other threads that directed me to the updates for windows 8. I installed everything I could find for windows 8.

  However, the following issues still remain.

  1 micro button mute does not work.
  2 Fn + F2 does not work

  3 Fn + F3 does not work

  4 Fn + F5 does not work

  5 Fn + F6 does not work

  6 Fn + F8 does not work

  7 Fn + PrtSc doesn't work

  8 Bluetooth remains on all the time with no way to disable the right click. Yesterday I downloaded an update through the update of the system for the bluetooth, but the problem remains.

  9 Thinkvantage does nothing.

  Could someone help me identify what might cause these problems and how I could find a solution for the same?

• Question of T420 keyboard with the J and K keys

  Just had my motherboard (first call), keyboard and rest of Palm (second call) replaced under warranty. Now, my 'J' and 'K' keys feel off. Press 'J' on the right side is difficult to push, so I have to knock over near the "H" key or press very hard to make it work. The key 'K' on the left side is hard to push so I have to hit closer to the 'L' key or press on to make it work.

  When I removed the keys to watch and try to reinstall them, I noticed a bulge between where the 'J' and 'K' keys sit, more by press 'J '.   Did some research on the quick commissioning. If what I found, it's true, windows does by saving an image of the Windows kernel and loaded drivers on the hiberfile (C:\hiberfil.sys) on stop so when you restart your PC, Windows loads just the hiberfile (C:\hiberfil.sys) in memory to take back your PC instead of restarting it. This could be the reason for which only the power LED flashes and a beep. I noticed that when the power led is flashing, the hdisk indicator flashes like writing a file somewhere and will beep when finished. But positive step is logical.

  An alternative is to buy and connect a drive 256 GB mSATA and put back the old 320 HARD drive in the drive tray. But this raises the question of the limits of size of HARD drive. Most (all?) 1 TB drives are double tray and too big for the T420. So my second question is what is the largest capacity HARD drive that would fit in the T420 drive tray?

When I got my calipers out, I assumed the problem was of height of the disc. But your contribution suggested that my 9.06 mm high disk should work perfectly.

  The culprit turned out to be the widthof the car. I used screws with heights of head high to mount the drive in the caddy. After the damper rubber on the screws, the set was too broad.

  More small screw and life is perfect. Now cloning!

  I use T420s with the 57Y4536. It's a Li - Pol battery. I bet that the new is also Li - Pol because Li - Pol is the only technology bringing cubic, not cylindrical, which is necessary for this battery.
