Transfer files in Mode safe office

I have a HP 2007 under Vista SP2 computer.  Does not start normally, she will start in Mode without failure, and then for only a few minutes at a time.  According to the Manager of recovery HP (F11 at startup), the HD is OK but the CPU has failed the Test multi-hearts.  All the files on the hard drive have been made to an external hard drive.  If a flash drive is inserted into a USB port, it is considered and files are accessible.  I replace the computer with a new unit running W7.  The problem is that there are folders containing files on the desktop that are not saved to HD.  I can access these files in safe mode and could transfer to the flash drive, but this must be a single file on time and with the constant crashing, a very tedious process.  My question is there a way to transfer files or on the desktop to a flash drive to load it on the new computer?

Hello

You don't have to copy them to your Flash drive, one file at a time.

When you have your Documents, music, etc. stored > click Edit > select all > then right click on any folder it selected files > move your mouse cursor on send to > select your Flash drive to save on and it will copy those who are highlighted.

See you soon.

Upgrade to Firefox 25.0 today. Now I can't restart the computer (it crashes or goes to the blue screen; Win 7) but it starts in Mode safe mode OK and it starts in normal mode if I don't run Firefox since I finally started. This suggests that Firefox 25.0 installation done something for her. How can I proceed? Thank you, Jim.

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • Instructions to get out of Safe Mode may not work (reboot, reset), then how the heck out of Mode safe?

Tonight, I went in Firefox for the first time at least two years. When I tried to open the version of Firefox, I got in my Applications, it is opened in Mode safe.

So I downloaded the latest version of Firefox open, and it automatically retrieved my old favorites. However, the download open mode without failure.

I have pores through the help files and tried a few suggestions required out of Safe Mode. I closed and reopened Firefox, choosing Reset. That did not work.

I closed Firefox and restarted my computer. Then I opened Firefox. It opened in Mode safe and gave me no alternative.

I only went in Firefox, because I couldn't access the router configuration page Cisco/Linksys (198.162.1.1) following the instructions I gave to me. I guess Chrome might have had a problem, so I decided to try Firefox. But I can never know if Firefox might have gotten me in the configuration page of the router, I have to go, because I'm stuck in Mode without failure.

While I strongly agree with nature without non-profit, open-source Firefox, I remember why I stopped using Firefox a long time ago: it is narrow in its help functions, and it takes too much knowledge of the user.

So, I'm stuck, and I can never get this router put in place, as I am in desperate need of.

I doubt that I will check in the forum, because I do not think there is any point. If I can't even get out of Safe Mode - and I don't know how it happened in Mode safe, because there certainly were no accidents in the years more doubled in the course of which I haven't used Firefox - it is useless to attempt to use this browser. If you want to contact me, you can do so through the email address I registered with.

Have you checked the target line in the shortcut to the Firefox desktop (right click: properties) to ensure that there not - safe-mode switch of attached command line?

Also make sure that you are not now the SHIFT key or use a hotkey with only the Shift modifier.

  • Typing becomes very slow in Firefox 3.6.11 in Mode safe mode with all extensions and plugins disabled.

When I first start Firefox, all right. And everything is fine as long as I type in the text boxes on any web page. I can type in the address bar or search throughout the day with no problems.

But, for example, just by typing in the edit box to ask this question on this site will result in the problem after I typed more say 150 characters. After this strike ANYWHERE in Firefox will be very slow, even the address bar or the search bar. It doesn't seem to matter what site use to type in the text. Cause the problem to occur after typing in enough strikes.

Navigation & mouse clicking remains fast - it is only typing seems to be affected. In order to recover, I have to restart Firefox.

If I look at the use of the UC Firefox.exe in Process Explorer, I see that once the problem occurs, the CPU usage starts whenever I type a key fortification. Indeed Firefox maxes one of my two hearts so the cpu is at 50%! He goes down to 0% again once I stop typing.

As mentioned in the subject, it is in Mode safe mode with all extensions & plugins disabled. I'm running on Windows XP SP3 with an old AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 3800 + (1.81 Ghz) with 2.00 GB of RAM.

I think it started to happen with Firefox 3.6 significantly (it's amazing how much time I can navigate without having to type), but it sometimes occurred with previous versions. Now he is annoyingly repeatable.

I have to use '-no - Pei ForTyping distance "to start a separate session of Firefox that I use just to type in the text boxes, so I can restart at will. I also compose messages in an external editor and simply paste in Firefox to avoid typing as much as possible.

This may be a problem with session restore. Firefox stores session data every 10 seconds to make it possible to restore a session crashed.

It may be a problem with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder

Delete the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak and all files files sessionstore-# .js with a number in the left part of the name as sessionstore - 1.js.

  • How to get out the mode safe mode with msconfig.

I'm working on my computer and need to start in safe mode. I ran the msconfig and reboot the laptop. I get to the login screen, but when I get my username and password it tells me that the user name and password is not correct. How to get out the mode safe mode with msconfig.

When you run msconfig to get set to Safe Mode, you just activate/check the option/SafeBoot at startup. INI tab or did you do something else?

There is some malware that if you use the/SafeBoot option, you will not be able to use your system again until you remove the switch/SafeBoot the boot.ini for you can boot normally.

Maybe it's not your exact problem, but I will never suggest to anyone to use the option / SafeBoot never again - too risky when troubleshooting since you can always start new or will never connect again until you remove the switch/SafeBoot.

Anywho, if that's what you have done, you can start in the XP Recovery Console and then either make a new boot.ini file containing the switch/SafeBoot or simply rename the boot.ini file, you have something like boot.ini.old if you don't have a boot.ini file (I know it seems like a weird idea).

In a single partition configuration, XP is not even a file boot.ini to boot.  XP will complain if there is no boot.ini file, but will always start very well without one (non-believers - try it!).

After you get booted up and logged in, you can rename boot.ini.old in boot.ini and run msconfig to remove the option/SafeBoot, and never use it again.

  • When you transfer files to the internet, the router disconnects from the internet, but the network remains in tact.

I have a wireless router Belkin g with 1 Server 2003 cable and 2 xp machines and 1 machine vista wireless. My problem is when you transfer files to the internet, the router disconnects from the internet, but the network remains intact. I cannot remote in all computers, but not internet. Once I have restart the router, everything works fine. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how to fix them.

original title: problems with the router.

I have no solution for you.  It seems more likely to me that it is a hardware problem - but if it was related to traffic, I would expect that the problem on the downloads more downloads.

In addition to DSL reports, you could try to ask some of the forums that specialize in the updated firmware for wireless routers.  This is not to say that you need to install the modified firmware (although there may be good reasons to do so), but people who do usually firmware mods are much how the equipment works and what might be its potential failure modes.

Is one of the best-known sites DD-WRT.com, but there is one list of other here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wireless_router_firmware_projects the firmware on these sites was originally designed to run on Modem Linksys WRT54G, but applies generally to Linux with chips Broadcom - based wireless routers and DD - WRT claims that its firmware takes care of some Belkin routers.  If your router is one of those on what DD - WRT will work, there will probably be someone in the forum there will have something for you.  See the list here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

System Restore IS NOT the way to remove malware. The reason why you do not see the effects of the malware in safe mode is probably due to the fact that the process for most malware does not load in safe mode, and therefore not active.

Restart the computer in Safe Mode with network. Click HERE. Download Malwarebytes. Update Malwarebytes and perform a full scan.  Choose to quarantine found nothing. Once completed click HERE and download Superantispyware Portable. Run a full scan quarantined found anything yet. Restart your computer in normal mode and perform a quick scan with Malwarebytes.

    Do not follow exactly...

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If your system uses to work properly, what do you think might have happened to her since the last time, that it did not work properly?

If there is a problem starting, XP is configured to automatically try to start again and you can stuck in a loop not being able to go beyond the screen boot options, or none of these startup options you choose will work only.

Sometimes, when XP has a problem starting or falls down and tries to start again, it will give you a "short" menu of boot options and none of them will appear to be good to get your system going again.  You have tried them all!

The options are similar to the Advanced Boot Options menu XP, but the only option that you need (disable automatic error system reboot) are not offered, because XP went too far during the boot process and offers a limited number of boot options.

If this is the case, you must call Options menu advanced boot yourself until you do not see the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

When you get the XP Advanced Options correct start menu you want to see, he has options on it like these:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt

    Enable Boot logging
    Enable VGA mode
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
    Debug mode
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

    Start Windows normally
    Reset
    Return to OS Choices Menu

You need to choose in this menu is the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Then if XP does not start normally, you will see an error screen with information and clues about the problem and then you can decide what to do next.

If you do not see the automatic restart on system failure option turn it off, you must reset your system and start typing the key F8 on the keyboard until you see her disable automatic restart on system failure option.

If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again and start tapping the F8 key with more urgency (earlier and more frequently) until you see disable automatic restart on system failure, and then select.

You must keep trying the F8 menu until you see disable automatic restart on system failure option, and select it.

If your system has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), we need to know what the screen says:

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:

    http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg

Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).

Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.

If it looks like there is some kind of name listed in the STOP message file, send this line also.

Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

Answering queries and results report of the disable automatic restart on system failure screen and you can decide what to do next.

I have not a cd ROM is there another way to solve this problem. Thank you people

Thank you for taking the time to make this post very informative, excellent. Without the machine test myself that I can't be sure, but based on the age of the computer and what you wrote I suspect for lack of material. It could be something simple like the hard drive or RAM or something more serious like the motherboard. I wouldn't recommend replacing any material on such an old laptop.

As long as the hard disk has been physically, you can recover your data easily. If the hard drive has failed, then you will need to send the drive to a professional drive savers data recovery company. It is quite expensive ($500-3700), but they can usually recover your data. Some insurance policies cover also, professional data recovery in order to check with yours. But let's be optimistic. ;-)

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company.

I'll give you the information on how to test the hard drive to see if it's good physically and how to recover data when you can't in Windows but in doing these things requires a certain level of computer skills. You know yourself the best and that it would be better to take the laptop to a competent local professional. If you do this, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Get recommendations from family, friends and colleagues.

    A. test equipment

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. You will probably need to change the boot order. Your Dell can give you a temporary boot menu if you press F12 as the computer starts. If so, use your arrow key to select the CD drive. Otherwise, press F2 to enter in Setup (BIOS) and change the order of boot on the CD drive first. If the disk fails all physical tests, it must be replaced. Although readers of the laptop cost around $60, you should really consider if it is to put money in such an old machine. You can replace the disk, but the laptop is definitely at the end of its normal life and something else is doomed to failure.

There is information about the RAM test and other materials here:

    B. retrieve data detach a healthy disk when you are unable to Windows

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB stick with a capacity to hold your data OR an external USB hard disk formatted FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.

  • Backup and restore in Mode safe!

I was having a problem with my computer laptop windows startup and now have hooked to an external monitor, allowing me to use the computer in safe mode. I've send the laptop for repair in the next few days and would like very to save all this as the problem with is probably the hard drive or motherboard. Thus, after a search in the help and support available on the computer, I found a link to the backup and Restore Center (for some reason that I'm not able to access it through the control panel). When you click on the link nothing happens... it is not possible to use the backup and Restore Center while running in safe mode?

If it is possible, and I'm just computer illiterate it please let me know how I should do it, I'd rather a lot do not have to install all my programs when I get my computer.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello jmcrawford22,

The backup and restore service is not running in Mode safe and you will not be able to perform a backup. I suggest that you manually copy files (personal folders) to an external source using Windows Explorer. You will be able to copy the files. However, you will not be able to save the data of the program such as backup and restore does not work as you are not able to start the computer in normal mode.

After the last update, just slowed down, so I restarted my Dell Studio laptop. I noticed MsMpEng.exe was the biggest user of memory and still is. I lost the desktop configuration in mode without failure, as well as some sound themes, homepage, recent files, Windows security settings, etc. Internet Explorer re - starts NEW whenever it is open.  Typing jumps about. I rebooted and restored several times in Mode safe with no improvement except to return to items on the desktop. I lost all the restore points. Msconfig is the same as the previous (selective startup), without any news. I finally got Directory Services Restore Mode and disable UAC, but have still lost all my old settings and other features. Analysis of security shows no problem. I now can't change anything as the printer creation, probably because I don't have administrator privileges with UAC off the coast. Don't download FixIt. Is there something I can do? I used regedit before, but am not game to touch.

Thank you, Dena, I restarted factory and now everything is fine. He did take 5 days to fix but. Thus, you can close this point. Thanks for your comment. Phil
