trunk fiber 3750 and 3850

I currently have two 3750's (bunk). We recently bought two new 3850's and have stack as well. My question is, how to I master them? I want to be able to use the new switches with the same VLAN and IP addresses as the existing. The new switches are in the same basket as existing ones.

The current 3750 are the gateway to my network (and they remain such, for now).

I plugged an uplink to switch fiber as in:

3750 (IG 1/0/49)--> 3850 has (IG 1/1/1)

3750 (IM 2/0/49) b--> 3850b (IM 2/1/1)

I gave the fiber ports the following parameters:

3750 a:
int item in gi1/0/49
trunk program dot1q switchport
switchport trunk allowed vlan add ALL
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate

3750b
int gi2/0/49
trunk program dot1q switchport
switchport trunk allowed vlan add ALL
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate

3850a / 3850b:
Item in gi1/1/1
Gi2/1/1
switchport trunk allowed vlan add ALL
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate

At this point, I thought I'd be able to ssh in the new (3850) switch and ping current (3750), but I can't. Assistant network on the switch curent 3750 'sees' the new 3850, but has he appears as "unsupported device". The switches are on the same subnet (10.11.1.0/24).

Tandem switch (3750) is 10.11.1.2 and new 3850 is 10.11.1.14. If I connect my laptop on the 3850 and give me an IP 10.11.1.x, I ping the switch itself (10.11.1.14), but I can not ping to the gateway (10.11.1.2). If I SSH in switches, I can not ping each other.

Do I need to set up the uplink fiber as an Etherchannel? Or are my settings incorrect switchport? I don't know what I'm missing. I'm certainly not an expert in the field, even if its something that may be obvious to others, it's quite possible I forgot.

Hope it makes sense. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey,.

Provide the following information to learn more:

3750 side:

#sh ip int br | ex-United Nations

#sh int g1/0/49 trunk

#sh int g2/0/49 trunk

#sh vlan br

3850 side:

#sh ip int br | ex-United Nations

#sh int g1/1/1 trunk

#sh int g2/1/1 trunk

#sh vlan br

Kind regards
RS.

  • VLAN Trunking between 6248 and 2848

    Hello

I have a Powerconnect 6248 switch connected to a 2848 and I try to get a VLAN on the 2848.

VLAN working and properly receive DHCP addresses, traffic lanes and DNS runs on the 6248.

The Protocol DHCP, DNS server is connected to port 1 on the 6248.

When I create a Trunk port on 3 the 6248 Port, allow all VLANS through it, creating a trunk on port 1 of the 2848 on VLAN10 and try to plug in devices inside, they can see all other devices connected to the L3 switch.

The two switches are running the latest firmware and the L3 on his own works as expected. I can't get any kind of circuits working at L2, tried with normal cable and crossover switch.

Here is the config of the L3 6248. Switch 2848 L2 has a blank canvas with 10 VLANS created on ports 1,2,3,4 with port 1 as the trunk port installation.

Any ideas pleeease? Anyone? It drives me crazy.

After turning off spanning tree on the 2848, all works now.

    VLAN, trunking everything.

    Thanks for the help! :)

I hope that if someone else can use what it took me ages to develop. I plugged on Netgear switches etc and they seem to work.

The issue was going on between the dell 6248 and 2848, Spanning tree is enabled on the default 2848. If I was going to the Netgear via the 6248, then at the 2848 switches worked.

My config on the l3 also works very well if someone would use :)

    I followed this Cisco_VCS_Cisco_Unified_Communications_Manager_Deployment_Guide_CUCM_6-1_7_8_and_X7 - 0.pdf deployment guide.

When I on the EX90 9951 ring, I have the following message on VC: can not reach the contact.

I have a 503 service unavailable status on the call history and "call rejected" on the event log.

My transformation is OK and the call is sent to my neighbor CUCM zone

You have an idea to solve this problem?

    Hello

Yes, it's true! It seems at first glance a problem with codec negotiation when I see the reason 47 code.

in any case set the region to G.711 trunk phone in case if you have different device pool and the trunk region and ip-phones.

make G.711 end to end and test again.

I need a different VLAN native on the side of the radio and ethernet. Is this possible on 1410 nonroot bridge?

The bridge takes support only one SSID. You must assign the SSID to the VLAN native

    1. create sous-interfaces on the radio and Ethernet interfaces.

    2. enable 802. 1 q encapsulation on the subinterfaces and assign a subinterface in the VLAN native.

    3. assign a bridge group to each VLAN.

    4. (optional) select WEP on the VLAN native.

5 assign the SSID of the bridge to the VLAN native.

    Hello

Trying to get our etherchannels works correctly with our network administrator. Here is our config with a few questions.

    1. as it is to create the trunk between switch and host directly, can I use spanning tree portfast chest edge ?

    2. when don't we use no ip address and when not for this configuration? I see online showing examples with and without it.

    3. in some articles, he described in access mode , while in others he said dot1q trunk mode. See here for the access mode. Admin think it should use dot1q.

4 Etherchannel is fully support and preferred extending from links on maps, right? Not all of the links on the same card?

5 is this the case in order to change the load balancing algorithm in vmware first or first to the work of cisco? I did first vmware. (IP-hash)

Wow Josh. If only you had written documentation. That's the trouble with him. People like me get final instructions, because we're not the guys from network 24 x 7. Great documentation would be layout, the reasons to go this way or that way you did just. That being said, here's my summary based on this discussion.

    1. we have several VLANS that descends from 3 links on the etherchannel. Thus, we should use mode trunk because there is not a single.

    2. we have an another etherchannel with just 1 vlan (vmotion), but in all of two links. This should be the access mode. Or is it still trunk because it's the multiple links?

    3. I don't know what crash dump logger is, or how it applies to my situation.

    4. I saw the bpduguard setting before what exactly is the syntax to use for us? 6500 series.

    5. I don't know if our switch would deliver on that port. How can I tell? At this moment I have switchport setting in there.

    Thank you!

No problem for reference, the other question of documentation is one of the languages. Their word etherchannel on HP networking hardware, 'trunk' and has nothing to do with the discussion of port "access vs circuit", which they call "tag unidentified vs.

    1 Yes

    2. you would certainly make an access port.

    3. If your server never begins to have a problem with break, VMware can a copy of the accident for the debug log. You can see an article on setting up here: put in place the collector of Dump ESXi 5.0 | VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs.

4 I'm sorry I'm not familiar with this model

    5. I think if the switchport parameter is here and connectivity seems to work, you can consider yourself safe

  • VCB and Fiber Channel without

    Hi all

I have an interesting problem, and I'm curious to know if anyone else has run into it...

I have a HP DL360 with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Backup Exec 12.5 and VCB 1.5.  The server is connected to a switch of fiber supporting a Compellent SAN.  VMFS volumes are presented to the DL360 ReadOnly and VCB works perfectly.

The question is in a reboot of the power of attorney.  The server is located in the Windows startup screen and never loads completely.  If I disconnect the fiber cable and reboot, it does so very well.  I can then reconnect it, scan the LUN and continue on as usual until the next time I restart the server.  I replaced the HBA already, so just try a different material (I have several of these boxes by flying over the building).

I know that this is not necessarily a problem with VMware, but I thought that maybe someone else ran in this at one point...

The problem is that your LUN is read-only.  Even if VCB should not be written on these discs, windows wants to be able to have this type of access, while it is coming.  So, it will try to open records in R/W mode, that will fail and causes Windows hang.  So, for a permanent solution, your VCB should have RW access to these LUNs.

    Hello

Thanks for the reply. I had a look at effect and it seems good. I would have liked to use something P2P but also limit the amount of MAC addresses on the "wire". But let me first give you an understanding of the task:

We have two sites, linked by fiber, and we want to create a trunk VLAN everywhere and to expand the broadcast domains to you another site.

The carrier FOOL, has a limitation on the number of MAC addresses, they allow the service to fiber, 100.

We also encrypt the datatraversing this connectivity.

MACsec wuold work 100% exept the source and dstination MAC addresses are still sent (at least according to https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:LEf2qOmYZyYJ:www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2011/bn-hutchison-macsec-sample-packets-0511.pdf+&hl=en&gl=za&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESgmAHXpDOY0RBAE-Rv1HDpu_C_gkeSPN4cv6NGgyP0M1aXVu0UqzCfxo8t_P41ep6J37k4OLKnjfp1M9hoTDHxY22WGz2h7yB7YRLyPvRUbGS8TICzvEMlG92xqbhy6RWFugmnj&sig=AHIEtbTfu0LQIJejdYidE6yzq4lpPifxjQ

And who tempt me to eat in the limit of MAC 100.

    Thank you...

    Not possible AFAIK.
LACP will provide examples of the use of load balancing and redundancy that is good enough for most.
Other then that you would have to watch the 10GB uplinks between switches for more bandwidth.

  • Port of WLC 5508 and 4510 - channels

LACP and PAgP are not based on the controller and it seems that the 4500 series will use no LAG.

    Cisco 5508 wireless controller description

I get the error message "lacp not enabled on the remote port..". I removed the 2nd fiber cable and removed the channel group so I can get the WLC online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to get the channel of ether to work with the WLC, you must change your configuration of:

    !

    interface GigabitEthernet3/1
    active in mode channel-group 10
    !
    interface GigabitEthernet3/2
    active in mode channel-group 10
    !

    Mode it

    !

    interface GigabitEthernet3/1
    channel-group 10 mode on
    !
    interface GigabitEthernet3/2
    channel-group 10 mode on
    !

Mode IT is said the switch to Link Aggregation Protocol try and negotiate by using one of two LACP or PAgP control protocols.

using ONE fits in the configuration guide when you enable the option Cisco WLC LAG.

  • I had a breakdown and even if my host has been turned off, he showed only disconnected and HA na not kick in.

The trouble is, my Dev Environment has worked well, showing does not and HA worked, then that my production did not.

The cause of the blackout was a power failure that the power off switch.

The production host is a 3850 M2 and development hosts are HS21 blades in a BladeChassis.

What would cause the server show disconnected?

Due to the floods here, I am unable to work and check power redundancy, or if the House of all the server went down or just simply switch.

How storage is configured on the server that is located behind the failed switch.  It is also configured the switch failed (iscsi or nfs), or is it fiber attached?

If its fiber attached and the other virtual machines were running, the other guests could not power on the virtual machine because files would still be locked.

What is the configuration of your HA settings on the cluster?  Leave power on or power off the power?

If they all leave it turned on, and then only a physical fall of the server or SAN connection would allow an HA event succeed (because file locks would be then released).  otherwise the VM running isolated, but no other host can power on the virtual machine.

It is probably a good event to happen because it caused a power failure but not a serious enough to make your life hell, it should give you more reason to push redundant switches on the side of production to ensure that a single switch failure is not bring down the environment.

  • Server files to fiber without Xsan?

    Hi all

We did a Mac Mini server for a long time now on ethernet on our small business network, and we recently replaced one of our editing Mac Pro (2010 model) with a more recent 2013 videos.

The Mac Pro 2010 has a fiber inside, and I wonder if it is possible to use it to replace our server Mac Mini (El Cap) and run as a file on the network server using fibers. Our firewall is a Sonicwall NSA 4600, which has the ability to take entry fiber connections, then all customers would be connected via ethernet. All our data would be on the internal SSD drives, and configure a RAID is not necessary (there are already solutions secondary and backup in place).

I have little or no experience using fiber (a company from the outside set up our private network edition). Before I jump into the rabbit hole, which was wondering is) adding a fiber to a network machine works similar to ethernet (i.e. just setting IP, Sub, etc.)? (B) what I need to set up an XSAN system with controllers separate metadata etc., or can I simply connect the mac pro in the switch firewall and SMB/AFP share as he was connected by ethernet? And (C) can other services OS X Server as a VPN server, RADIUS, or OD work through the fiber connection, or do I need to run an Ethernet line separate to those of work (or even to keep the Mac Mini for these functions)?

The advantage that I would hope to achieve is a debit to transfer files to and from customers.

    Thank you!

There are two types of use of fiber that your current Mac Pro could use.

    1. Ethernet over fiber - used for the connection of normal computer network
    2. FDDI over fiber - used for the connection of SAN storage

It's not not obvious from your post that you are using. Ethernet over fiber option is mainly for going the distance, but could also be used with a faster for example 10 Gbit/s network connection.

Your current Mac Pro run Xsan? If it means that he uses FDDI.

Note: Everything needs to use compatible versions for Xsan for work.

You can get the two 10 Gbps, that interfaces Ethernet fiber and FDDI interfaces for use with a Mac, this is done with a direct Thunderbolt adapter, or a bolt of lightning to box PCIe in which you want to keep a PCIe card - most likely even the currently in your Mac Pro.

FDDI is only used for storage connections and is normally only used by servers. (And the storage itself.) It permanently unusable for normal networking, servers would also have Ethernet connections for this.

A 'SAN' allows several servers share a single storage via direct connections (FDDI) device, normally only one computer can be connected to a storage device. The Xsan software or a similar software for other platforms acts as a controller to ensure these several servers can use the same storage without conflict.
