Try using the Vista upgrade disc supplied with the system displays error Windows version is not authentic

original title: with Acer Aspire Vista Help
Well, here's the story, I bought an Acer aspire T180 a few years back from Best Buy with Windows Vista installed. The only drive I received was a Vista Upgrade disc. Fast forward a few months computer slows down, etc so I thought I'd see any control and maybe cleaning the system some. Put my disk to upgrade looking for the way to do it. Make the mistake of installing the upgrade. now I have the upgrade on my computer and it always tells me that I have a version of windows that is not authentic. I tried to use my COA on upgrade drive, does not recognize and COST on the case of my Aspire, once again with the same result. I have my old version under windows.old, but can't seem to install it. I would just go back to my Vista OEM install. I have access to another computer, but it is an Apple and prefer if I didn't use this option unless it makes it easier. I guess what I'm asking, it's just to get back to my legal version on this computer, would like to keep files, but if can't, I would like to do a clean reinstall. Mine is out of warranty, so no help from Best Buy or Acer without paying their

You are welcome.

But try first to borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD of an acquantance of work for this restoration instead of a full recovery.

See you soon.

If your computer is pre-installed with Vista, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

A single license is a single Installation.

If you try to use chkdsk for C:\ partition, you cannot run that the disc must be disassembled for the operation, which is not possible with the C:\ partition (or the partition where Windows is installed).

Instead, go on-> do work right click on the partition-> click Properties-> in the Properties dialog box, go to the Tools tab-> under error-checking, click check now... This will automatically set a check the next time you start Windows.

  • Vista upgrade discs

    Hello.

My wife and I bought a

HP Pavilion computer dv6113, which was supposed to happen with a free upgrade to windows vista.  We sent all the documents, including registration, rebates, etc.  We received our rebate, but we never have our Vista Upgrade discs.  Is not not big computer tech that we thought that the XP operating system was just fine and have used it since then.  But now that XP is no longer supported, we are afraid to use our computer for banking, etc., until we have upgraded to Vista.  Is it possible to download the free HP Vista Upgrade we were promised when you purchase the computer?

    Thank you.

Sorry, but the Vista upgrade program ended a few months after Windows Vista came out. The upgrade program was not valid since April 2007 and there is no way to acquire Vista, short purchase. However, I recommend to buy Windows 7 Edition Home Premium instead. Windows 7 is more stable than Vista and will have a longer life of the support.

  • When I try to use the Dell reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Home premium SP1 64-bit, it crashes when is about to display the windows logo.

    Re-installing Dell inspiron 19 has windows 7

    People,

I have a Dell Inspiron 19. The Dell of Dell diagnostics disk utilities & drivers say all right. It is a Seagate 320 GB drive. I installed the drive on another computer and used sea tools to erase the disc.  Then I created a partition and marked as "bootable".

When I try to use the Dell reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Home premium SP1 64-bit, it crashes when is about to display the windows logo.  A few pixels logo show and then it's there.  Any ideas?  I worked on it for several days.  Really a "stumper" for me and I did something like that for years!

Original problem seems to be a massive viral infection (owner had no active antivirus software installation!) which led to the non-bootable computer.  After working on this for a while, I decided to just do again it.

  • No recovery disc supplied with my Satellite P300

I recently bought a new laptop from Toshiba, Satellite P300. It has Vista installed out of the box, but there is no recovery media supplied with the package. I'm afraid that if something can go wrong in the future, I will not be able to repair my operating system.

    Two questions:
    (1) is this normal that there is no restore disk provided with the Satellite P300? In other words, other customers who bought the same laptop doesn't have that either. Or is it an exception and an error in my local provider. In the manual on the "included in this package" list is any mention of a recovery disc supplied with the package.

    (2) can I get a Toshiba Recovery disk if something is wrong?

    Hello

    > Is it normal that there is no restore disk provided with the Satellite P300?
Yes, because the laptop was equipped with HARD drive recovery option that allows to recover the laptop from the HARD drive.

    > Can I get a Toshiba Recovery disk if something is wrong?
There are some pre-installed Toshiba Recovery disc creator software.
This software creates a Toshiba Recovery DVD. I think that this info was published in the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop.

So, I strongly recommend reading the user manual and to create this DVD of recovery before you change anything on the laptop.

    Cheers mate

    keimanzero,

Comcast of Norton Security Suite version is installed? If Yes, who and perhaps malware is most likely to cause questions you have published, in particular the failure of the restoration of the system.
First, configure the system to boot - How to solve a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
NOTE: Start-up mode minimum state all the 3rd party firewalls will be disabled. Open Control Panel > Windows Firewall to make sure that the native firewall of Windows 7 is now on.

Download and Save the update system (or CheckSUR) tool. You will need to download the specific Version of CheckSUR corresponding to the architecture of the system to Windows 7. If you do not know the architecture of the system, and then click the link that says "Click here to show or hide the instructions step by step with images" under method 2: download the update directly system preparation tool from Microsoft Download Center .
Description of the preparation tool system update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2

Once the download is complete, close all open programs and browsers. Now, run CheckSUR with the system connected to the internet because it will download the .cab for system files. Reboot once CheckSUR is complete.

Secondly, I suggest that you run the File Checker system while in the same clean boot state.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the field search programs and files .
    2. Right click on cmd.exe in the programs of list, and then choose 'run as administrator '.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    3. At the command prompt, enter the following line exactly as written including the space between thec and the/and then press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problems facing the system have been resolved.

If they are not, you will need to contact Norton support for the version of Norton Internet Security Comcast to get help, or just uninstall NIS, run the Norton removal tool (right click Norton_Removal_Tool.exe, choose "Run as Administrator"), reboot and then check to see if the problems are still occurring.

  • When I try to use the paint on my computer it says not enough memory or resources

computer is not enough memory or resources when trying to use paint

    Hello

    1. when it last work very well?

2 recent changes on your computer?
    3. is this problem only with paint?

    4. what service pack is installed on your computer?

    Method 1:
If you receive the error message above when opening a bitmap in Microsoft Paint, the only resolution at this time is to open the bitmap file in another program. I suggest you perform the steps to fix:
    a. open an existing bitmap.
    b. in the Image menu, click attributes.
    c. click on default and then click OK.
    d. on the file menu, click Save as and save the bitmap with a new name.
    e. close and restart Paint.

    Method 2:
If this step does not help then you can perform a System File Checker on your computer and check if it works.

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file.  You can check the link:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Once the SFC scan is complete, you can also try running these two commands at the elevated command prompt.
    a. right click on command prompt and open it as administrator
    b. run the two commands regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll and regsvr32 /i zipfldr.dll
