  OK, found the problem.

  The configuration of the network on the Mac has not been set by default:

  Under system preferences > network > advanced... > hardware

  .. .the menu drop-down Configuration is set to manually, and the MTU had been changed.

  Changed the MTU to 1500 (standard) and the dropdown under Configuration is set automatically.

  Now, everything works perfectly in all browsers!

  There is something right more important here. I guess that you are referring to the demo tables included with the database software. Do not these things on an Oracle Applications database.
  the hr_main.sql script removes and recreates a database schema called "HR".
  But Oracle Apps itself also contains a schema called HR that has nothing to do with the demo tables.
  So, when trying to install the demo tables, you destroyed a standard scheme of applications. This is almost certainly the cause of your problem.
  I'm guessing you also a lot of invalid objects now...

  I can help you with the it policy... lack of procedure for access to the BES server, this (and only this) cleanse a BB to an it policy:

  As for a BES Server trying to reach out... There is nothing that I can offer you. Your best bet is to talk to your provider and make sure you have no BES-level service enabled on your account of them. Who should (note 'should'... is there no guarantees) prevent a BES server to reach out and the reactivation of your device.
