Ubuntu and reset

Does anyone has installed ubuntu on their chromebook?  I am looking for a way to install vpn on my acer c720p chromebook and would like to know if somebody did successfully using ubuntu.  I will go and want to use wifi opened with some security.

Also, the instructions for chromebooks on the web speaks of a 'Refresh' factory reset button.  Is there a button on the acer chromebook?  All I could find was a rerurn to the previous button.

There are two ways to install linux on a chromebook. One method is through dual-boot, where you eitther boot default OS (chrome) to start, or Linux. The other method uses crouton , which will allow you to access between linux and chrome key without having to reboot. Here's a great article on hor to install linux on a chromebook.

At the time of writing (April 28, 2014) you have the choice of different distributions you can install.

You can also follow the discussions on this topic HERE. This link explains the Acer 720, but applies to the installation of linux on a chromebook.

  • Trying to erase and reset my phone with no luck!

    Trying to erase and reset my iPhone 5 s factory for a member of the family can use it.

    I'm going to...

    Settings > general > reset > erase content and settings

    But... He asked my password Apple ID through the next steps. I entered a million times (and reset and added to my new phone which worked well), but this old phone just does not accept the password. So I can't wipe all my stuff or take off my Apple ID.

    Help!

    It seems you have the Activation active locking iCloud.

    You can try signing out iCloud in the settings on the device, and then try the restore.

    If this does not work, you can also try to remove device from 'find my iPhone' to iCloud.com

    Turn off find my iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

    If the phone is not listed on the site, it can be locked on a different account.

    Have you ever changed your Apple ID? The iPhone is smart enough to recognize when an Apple ID has been changed. If you have changed your Apple ID without signature on iCloud first, this could be the reason why you have trouble to remove the lock.

    If you have the original proof of purchase of the device, Apple will be able to remove the lock if the receipt is valid.

    I hope this helps!

    If she needs your Apple ID password and you have enabled 2-factor authentication, you might have to temporarily disable the connection to complete.

    Also, you need an internet connection to perform this step here.

    Hello

    It is not currently possible to remove the built-in iPhone apps.

    If you want to remove from the view, you can place it in a folder, as well as all the apps that you might prefer storing (drag the icons of both apps on each other to create a new folder).

  • I want to buy Toshiba laptop with Ubuntu and windows

    I want to buy a new laptop.
    I don't want to pay 300 quid for yet another stupid Windows (if they are just a version properly, people don't need to keep buying new... oh wait... they make more money...).

    Others don't offer laptops with Ubuntu (and not windows).

    I find myself here, and Toshiba appear also does not provide laptops without windows.
    Why? Why Toshiba offer laptops with pre-installed Ubuntu with no windows?

    I use Ubuntu for 3 years, and altogether, he transformed my daily calculation. No more bloody virus, not 5 minutes log-ins/closures, no more program - crashing down the entire system. It is faster, safer, more flexible and * free *.

    But because Toshiba do not appear to offer it, they can't get my habit (I'm in Ireland, so Toshiba options open to me may be different in other countries).

    Hello

    First of all it s a forum from user to user and you get no response from Toshiba here in the forum.

    But as much as I know that Toshiba laptops are not delivered with the distributions Linux.
    Of course, you can install Linux if you want, but laptops are delivered with the Windows operating system. As far as I know with win 7 64 bit and 32 bit OS.

    Welcome them

  • What does clear and reset doo bought items such as apps?

    I have an iPad 4. What's doing to my purchased items, such as applications are erased and reset?

    Erase the content and settings will wipe away all of the iPad but the iOS. It does exactly what it says. You can download all your applications and data once again, if you back up with iCloud or iTunes. Erase content and settings can be a troubleshooting step as well. When you delete content and settings, you must go through the implementation of assistant all over again.

    IF you have no backup, you should create a before you delete the device, if you intend to continue using the device. Apps are linked to your ID Apple and while they are still available on the App Store, you can download and then again for free. What you really want to save data.

  • Ubuntu and winxp dualboot on thinkpad

    Hey

    I bought a brand new think pad t61 and now I want to run ubuntu and Windows XP to dualboot modus

    No matter how I arrange partitions? (first ubuntu and xp or vice versa?)

    Thank you for your message

    Here is a screenshot of the hard drive of my R61 according to GParted.

    I have a partition separate from the House with my Linux installation. Normally most people use only 1 partition for a linux installation. Here is the presentation:

    sda1 = restore partition

    sda2 = Windows Vista Preload

    sda3 = extended partition that encompasses all other partitions.

    sda6 = Linux Swap

    sda7 = install Linux

    sda8 = Linux Home

    sda9 = extra EXT3 partition for a third installation of Linux. (currently used for the storage of Linux only )

    sda5 = FAT32 partition readable and accessible storage in writing by Linux and Windows.

  • Can I keep my apps after I erase and reset my phone?

    Hello

    I have some problems with my phone and I tried to restore backups and such but no the problem go away.

    So I was wondering if it is possible for me to delete completely and reset my phone and make a new, but still have the same apps I had before.

    As if I bought an app or exchanged for a gift card, I would still be able to access and put them on my new phone, or they are removed with the reset of my phone?

    Thanks for the help.

    Your applications get deleted and removed from the iPhone when you reset the iPhone.

    However, your identifier Apple still holds the apps!  (Assuming that all purchased applications (whatever the price) on the iTunes Store.)

    So once you have configured your iPhone again (with the same Apple ID used to purchase apps), apps can be downloaded to the iPhone.  Use iTunes on your computer or from the App Store on your iPhone and go to "purchased".

  • iOS block report because of the third-party application, I answered and they managed remotely on the computer, now I know it's a scam, I turned off and reset the password, I'm in the clear?

    iOS block report because of the third-party application, I answered and they managed remotely on the computer, now I know it's a scam, I turned off and reset the password, I'm in the clear?

    If you allowed anyone remote access to your computer (and you're talking about a computer since you mentioned iOS which is the OS for iDevices; computers run on Mac OS X), while no one knows what they were able to install. Assume the worst and:

    Notify your credit card company / bank of potential fraud

    Change your bank accounts and report your fly/fraud credit card

    Change all of your passwords

    And, finally, erase your entire hard drive and reinstall the OS from scratch using recovery or your original installation disks.
