UBUNTU + WUSB600N v2 WORKS!

I thought some of you would like to know that you can get the WUSB600N v2 works on Ubuntu (I'm on Karmic)

What to do:

(Kudoz to Yohanna Chastre of the forum Ubuntu Launchpad)

1. download and save the module RT3572 (glance on the Ralink site, support, Linux)
2. open Terminal, go to the download folder (or anywhere where you you saved the file and run "bunzip2 2009_1222_RT3572_LinuxSTA_V2.3.0.0.tar.bz2" without the "")
3. in the same terminal with the command "tar - xvf 2009_1222_RT3572_LinuxSTA_V2.3.0.0.tar".
4. the cd in the 2009_1222 folder *.

5 gedit common/rtusb_dev_id.c and scroll down until see you an article that begins with #ifdef RT35xx

then go further to the bottom and add BEFORE the #endif follows the line "{USB_DEVICE (1737 0 x, 0 x 0079)}", without the quotes

don't forget,

Save the file (basically you have added the vendor and device id
6 gedit os/linux/config.mk and set the following flags yes 'y '.

HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT

HAS_QOS_DLS_SUPPORT HAS_DOT11N_DRAFT3_SUPPORT

HAS_DOT11_N_SUPPORT HAS_STATS_COUNT

exit and save

7. in your terminal, run the following (without the quotation marks)

"sudo make."
'sudo make install '.
You will get some error messages about the size that... just ignore

8 run the command 'sudo modprobe rt3572sta ".

You're not going to believe but the blue led lights and you will find the NIC under ra0

The only problem that remains is that your SSID must be on the Broadcast, otherwise it won't work.

I now connect to N (5.0 Ghz) with WPA2 encryption active Strip and a strength of connection of216Mb/s

I hope this helps...

Update:

If you have installed the latest update for Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic), you will notice that the NETWORK card no longer works...

Just go in your tar UN folder (BTW, under point 4 is bad, should be the cd in the 2009_1214 folder)

sudo make

sudo make install

sudo modprobe rt3572a

and you're back in business

  • How to get Ubuntu 11 unit interface to work in VMWare Workstation

I can't get the new Ubuntu Unity 11 work in VMWare Workstation interface.  Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running the virtual machine with 2 GB of RAM, 2 processors and 3D graphic acceleration.  I think that it is a more powerful configuration than an old laptop on which I easily got the work unit.

It still works, whenever Ubuntu starts, Gnome rather than unity.  This happens even if I have, that he set up on the logon screen to run Ubuntu (which is Unity) instead of Gnome.

It's hard to find since VMWare also uses the term of the unit. Please be clear that I am wondering about the new Unity of Ubuntu 11 interface, NOT interface of the VMWare unit.

VMware does not support what is needed to make it work in 3D and the only choice I've seen is to use unity 2D

    In a Terminal:

    sudo apt-get install unity-2d-default-settings

  • Keyboard freezes after Suspend in Ubuntu 16.04 on Satellite S-50 d-A-10F

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite S-50 d-A-10F with Ubuntu 16.04. Every time the laptop wakes from sleep mode, the keyboard no longer works. A reboot is required to restart.

I searched on the Ubuntu Forums, and it seems that the problem is related to the keyboard driver, but I was not able to find a Linux driver for this model.

Is there a solution to this problem, or computers notebooks Toshiba are not compatible with Linux?

    Thank you

    Murray

I'd be curious to know what state 16.04 Ubuntu is awakening to. It is after you have closed the lid of the laptop or after the black screen after a long period of inactivity? I guess that once you start Ubuntu, the keyboard works correctly. If so, the software that surrounds the keyboard probably working properly. The mouse work after suspension?

I saw messages emphasizing that, in some cases, automatic keyboard detection does not take place after resumption of a suspension. Although I would have thought that Ubuntu 16.04 took care of that, useful search words can be resume autodetect keyboard.

  • Ubuntu 8.04 on Satellite L500 problems - 12 p

    There are problems of display/video installation Ubuntu 8.04 on L500 - 12 p.
Ubuntu 9.04 works perfectly, but I need to work only with 8.04

Please help me solve this problem, where the display drivers? I tried to install the utility chipset for windows and display drivers for windows without success.

    Thank you in advance!

    Kents salvation,
It seems that you don't have much experience on linux...

Why do you want to use an old kernel?
Check the differences with the 8.04 to 9.04 versions!
If you need a special version of ubuntu 8.04 form
I don't know that it is running under the 9.04, after installing...

and know that you manage a linux os! Windows drivers will not work in this system!
(except with the envelopes, but only for the wlan drivers)

and Yes, you can install ubuntu 8.04 and then load the drivers of grafics
but not windows drivers! Take the 9.04 linux drivers

If it's too much trouble to install the 9.04 and install your favorite app!

    Have fun!

  • LabVIEW for linux (Ubuntu 64-bit)

University of Helsinki uses a centralized managed linux installation on all linux workstations.  The distribution is based on Ubuntu 9.10, and it is considering moving to 10.04 LTS.  Almost all of the facilities are 64-bit, only a few old machines (> 5 years of age) are still using 32-bit installation.

In the Physics Department, there are about 500 machines and about 30% of those who are linux workstations.  We strive to get LabVIEW for Linux installed on our desktop, then run under Ubuntu 64-bit.

1 problem (not a problem): For some strange reason, the installation media does not CD/DVD use normal files (iso9660) system, but the media is formatted with the file system "Mac OS X HDF +".  It works under linux, of course, but has been a source of mild confusion.  It would be wise to change the normal file system to the next version.

2nd problem: The installation under Ubuntu does not work.  Namely:

First I mount the media with the "mount-t hfsplus/dev/sr0/media/cdrom0" and try running the installation script
    CD/media/cdrom0/Linux/labview-2009
    sudo knew
    . / INSTALL

Installation is not going smoothly.  According to the error message, the script is not found the library libbz2:

/ Media/cdrom0/Linux/LabVIEW-2009/bin/rpmq: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

However, the library is in standard place:
    $ ls/lib/libbz2 *.
    /lib/libbz2.so.1 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0.4

I know, "support of the distribution" list only include Mandriva, RedHat, and SUSE.  The version of LabVIEW is the latest version of the fall of 2009.  Does anyone have any ideas what to try next?

    see you soon,
    Pekko

  • WAG160N, names of host and Ubuntu 9.04

    Hi all again,.

Next problem, I can now TEU hosts names to access my network, but only under Windows. I also have Ubuntu, but cannot through the network with host names, I thought that the problem would have been fixed by applying the "Spca" work aroungd to the fields routers host and domain in the basic menu, but it seems only vault with windows.

With the installation of Ubuntu is a working configuration without any problem with the names of host and al., until I swapped my NETGEAR for the WAG160...

The symptom is that when using the net in ubuntu and you use 'ping server-pc' instead of returning the IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx he sends the ping by the wan port, which is completely false!

    does anyone have a solution?

    BTW running the last FW.15

    Screenshot will be explanatory: -.

    Thanks in advance, Andy

It is access to all printers, machines, dlna, XBMC etc... There are two main ways to access these items on your network, by the IP number, domain FULL name if you have a server domain, but in a small soho configuration, you can use a shertened version comes from the host name as you know.

The wag V1 has an unfortunate problem with its firmware DNS/DHCP you can access all of the elements easily by the IP number if you know, if that number changes as it does with DHCP, you must check the Jokers dhcp table or watch you machines IP # through networking Panel is - not more easy to use the host name of machine that would upset No, I did this in the past with RH7.3 Linux I have kown it is possible.

You get a partial solution by changing the setings base of the wag and by changing the fields for the host name and the domain name, but it breaks under ubuntu and you are not able to use hostnames on linux.

My preference is for dhcp with host names, if the configuration of the firmware of the devices was on-site the deamons dhcp/dns should be no problem as the netgears can, and after all almost all routers and gateways use there ' nix embeded OS in any case, the part of the sentence "Why do you have a dog and bark" comes to mind.

My only gripe is with Linksys on this because I know it's possible, but they don't seem to want to know, so I poured out the WAG160 and are returned and bought a Netgear DGN2000 and names of host and all is working perfectly.

Here ends the referral of Linksys.

  • Finger touch several fails on Sony Vaio Duo 11 running Ubuntu 12.10 (N - Trig DuoSense MultiTouch)

    Hello

I recently bought a Sony Vaio Duo 11 Ultrabook / Windows 8 tablet hybrid. For my work, I need to use this device with Ubuntu Linux operating system. Most of the devices are fully supported by the kernel linux and ubuntu, but I have some problems with the touch screen. While ubuntu and desktop environment Unity support multitouch, and that N-Trig, which is the manufacturer of the tactile device mentions linux as an operating system supported on his web page, I get errors and wrong behaviour with her. I just describe the issue in this bug report on the ubuntu bug tracker (launchpad).

    https://bugs.Launchpad.NET/Ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1121379

I am aware that the camera comes with windows 8 OS and ubuntu or any other operating system is not officially supported, but I need ubuntu for my work, and it's a shame does not take advantage of all the features of this wonderful harware from Sony, due to a misconfiguration or a bad bug. I'd also like to mention that ubuntu OS is the 3rd most popular operating system worldwide, with continusly increasing adoption by users. It would be good for Sony to be able to verify that his harware is fully functional with ubuntu, as it would be to broaden its base of customers, including those who would like to run ubuntu on Sony computer devices.

Help, advice or contribution from Sony or any member of the community of sony to study and fix this bug will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for your reply biege.

I already contacted the people at the ubuntu community and watched in ubuntu forums and another ubuntu community support resources. The device is quite new and it seems at the present time there are only a few members of the community have ubuntu. I posted the problem here jump 1. To find other owners of 11 Duo who want to run ubuntu on it and 2. To make Sony associated people aware of the problem, because they may have some technical knowledge than ubuntu and X.org community is missing at the moment and could deal with this issue much easier.

By the way. A member of the forum who reads this and want to run ubuntu on Duo 11 is required to press the button "Affect me too" on the page of the bug ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1121379 ). This way we increase the "warmth" of the bug and thus increase the possibility for technicians and developers ubuntu for the note and get to work with her.

  • CentOS KVM, KVM based Hyper-v, etc., nested within VMware Player but not Ubuntu?

Can I get CentOS based KVM, Hyper-V, etc., nested in VMware Player but not Ubuntu based KVM?  Yes, I know that this subject can inspire some interesting comments, but for those who want to ask why?  Please, I beg you, the answer is, because that's the goal.  KVM nested within VMware Player 6.0.1 based on Ubuntu.  The fact that I can get basic nested KVM CentOS and working in VMware Player as well as Hyper-V, I see no reason why I can't get Ubuntu KVM works.  In fact, I can install KVM in Ubuntu and start a virtual 64-bit machine, but once started I never seem to get any sequence start, or at least no video of the boot sequence.  All crack this nut?  Get Ubuntu based KVM working in VMware Player?

Well, it turns out be strange, but easy to solve, it appears the Ubuntu KVM install at least on 13.10, creation of default virtual machine emulation is set to KVM, which has been deprecated.  Recreate a virtual machine as Qemu/KVM 64 bit, works!  Mystery solved.

  • Is it me? Fusion on Snow Leopard, Ubuntu 10.10: no network, none of the shared folders.

On my Macbook, I use VMWare Fusion course and installed Ubuntu 10.10, which worked pretty well. I'm not an expert in everything, I use Ubuntu only for very limited use and do not plan to make my standard OS, but in this case, I have no choice. For this work, I need to share files, copy and paste text and use the network.

But from the beginning, I have these problems:

#1: whenever I send the virtual machine to sleep and wake up more later he acknowledges no more network connection.

#2: I share a folder on my Mac OS but I can't see them in Ubuntu. To be exact, I can only see the public folders from Mac users, but not those that I added.

#3: copy / paste between Mac and Ubuntu does not work.

Then I looked through the menu and found that VMWare Tools are not installed, then I started the installation via the menu. The only result is that a CD of VMWare tools is downloaded and installed - and then nothing happens. There is a text "manifest.txt" file that contains version information and an archive that contains a Setup program. If I double-click on that one I am wondering with what application I want to open it. Very funny... I don't know how to use it.

    Any suggestions for a beginner?

In the VmWare Fusion menu, I choose the folders that are on Mac and decide if he is reading only or read and write.

Looks like you use folders shared HGFS and involved getting up from different Windows and Linux handle this. In Linux, look under/mnt/hgfs to find the HGFS folder shared.

I just changed one in Mac OS shared, everyone is allowed to read and write. Now I can see the content from Ubuntu. But I certainly don't want to share with all the members of my network. This folder is NOT in the list of folders that are common between Mac and Ubuntu, it is shared over the network, but not through VMWare.

OS X folders behave differently from HGFS shared - folders they use different protocols and transport mechanisms.

    Thank you

You use NAT that blocks incoming ports, but if you want to use the FTP protocol, the destination trying to open ports to your guest. Try to use the passive FTP as in this case, the server instructs the FTP client which port should be used, and it opens the client (your virtual guest).

    Read http://pubs.vmware.com/ws7_ace26/ws_user/ws_net_nat_externalaccess.html#1019966

and http://pubs.vmware.com/ws7_ace26/ws_user/network_adv.17.33.html on how to activate the active FTP.

    Or use the bridged network.

  • Need help to install Win7 on Satellite CL10-b-103

    Good afternoon mate,

I come to you because I gave this mini laptop, Toshiba CL10-b-103, who doesn't have a DVD drive and only 32 GB HDD (which there are only 21 free for the issue of the hidden restore and partition)

My intention is to install a win7 sp1 to make it lighter and have more space on the HARD drive.

    And I'm going crazy,

The bios is quite simple, you can turn off only an option that says 'safe start' (which in some forum in English is advised to try to defuse what I do).

And change the boot priority (leaving only USB and HDD / SDD). Nothing comes of the CSM or something, who has also read by some forum also had to turn it off.

I'm first, I put usb firstly you have to shoot the laptop and there is no way to read a usb win7.

I do an install of win7 usb bootable with the support of the EFI (apparently these new EFI this notebook, according to lei, you must prepare them in a special way) as a result of this blog:

    http: //biglimesoftwa...dows-7-u-8.html

And no, do not read! There is no way that between usb!

I also did a USB bootable, following another forum, with an application called Rufus, but nothing not even read.

How the companions? I'm doing something wrong?

Is it possible that the laptop is, is totally gelding to format and install another OS?

See if you can help me, I'm desperate...

Thanks in advance and greetings from Spain,

    Update:

I used the WinSetupFromUSB and make it bootable USB with this utility, I managed to read the USB, but all of a sudden comes this screen:

Exactly the same problem (Toshiba CL10-b-103 too), but I went deeper in the research and found that the BIOS version of this laptop does not support UEFI/CMS. Updated my BIOS to the latest version (which is for the moment, the 5.00 08/07/15 - WIN) but still does not work. I was already angry with their fu * skate that brings me to kill the process "pad experience" every time you start.

I would like to install ubuntu, but nothing works, even with a USB cable or directly on the C drive (note that I ruined my USB while flashing it, but in any case it was my fault). Any advice, tips?

In the case where someone would say "boot option is in the Advanced tab' this isn't for me, regarding the kikeastur. Sorry for digging it up with this topic, but I do not see why I would create a new that I have exactly the same problem.

    Thanks in advance
