UCS 540 and SPA 112 ATA

Hello community support!

I have a UCS 540 and want to connect analog phones via SPA112 ATA. Unfortunately this combination is not officially supported, but several positions indicated that it is possible.

If someone has an idea or a solution that would be greatly appreciated!

The SPA gets it's IP address via DHCP from the UCS and points to the NVI UCS interface IP as proxy. the IP Address of the ATA is to ping requests.

Thank you

Mike

You're right, they are not supported.  You can configure most likely that SIP phones in the WEC, but I have never seen an example of configuration of it.  You can start here is how to set up a phone SPA in a WCF router using the SIP.

http://www.Cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/Unified-Communications-Manager-Express/spa_polycom_application.PDF

Let me repeat that you won't get any support from SB - TAC for this.

  • Stream SPA 112 unsuccessful T38 fax call scenario

    Hello

    I will try to explain the situation better than I can.

    A fax device is connected to the port of SPA 112 phone (Firmware Version: 1.3.5 (004_XU001) Sep 16 2014). ATA a T38 support is enabled and a Terminal gateway in this case. A voip account is configured and registered to a provider that supports T38 fax relay Protocol.

    Another fax device is connected to the originating gateway (in this case Patton Smartnode gateway analog) and another voip account is saved in the same provider. T.38 support is intentionally disabled on the originating gateway.

    I expect the following call flow:

    -Endpoint gateway answers the call (G711)

    -Gateway endpoint offers T38 when a fax signal is detected

    -originating gateway rejects the offer t38 (disabled on the device)

    -call is reinvited to G711

    If you look at debugging (zipped attachment, OCAP), seems that the appeal is made to G711, but there is no the SPA112 RTP stream after the G711.

    Any ideas on that?

    P. S.

    To explain the IP addresses used in the trace:

    10.128.3.1 - sip proxy

    10.128.3.4 - media proxy

    10.200.0.17 - originally gateway

    10.200.0.253 - destination gateway (SPA)

    I would like to analyze the captured file and comment on the most important steps. Let go.

    I see two sessions:

    A: 10.200.0.17-> 10.128.3.1 B: 10.128.3.1-> 10.200.0.253

    -> INVITE (with SDP, aLaw, media, 10.200.0.17, sendrecv)

    <-180 ringing="" (with="" sdp,="" alaw,="" media="" 10.128.3.1,="">

    -> INVITE (with SDP, aLaw, media, 10.200.0.17, sendrecv)

    <- ringing="" (no="">

    The session is now is being "call setup" with installation accounting preliminary call audio ringtones, media 10.200.0.17,10.128.3.1 aloi, bidirectional (sendrecv).

    The session B is now in the phase "system call", no preliminary audio, call progress announced by SIP itself message

    A: 10.200.0.17-> 10.128.3.1 B: 10.128.3.1-> 10.200.0.253

    <- ok="" (with="" sdp,="" alaw,media="" 10.128.3.4,="">

    <>

    <- ok="" (with="" sdp,="" alaw,media="" 10.200.0.253,="">

    -> ACK

    The session is now in phase 'call connected' with 10.200.0.17,10.128.3.4 audio quality, bidirectional (sendrecv).

    The session B is now in phase 'call connected' with 10.200.0.17,10.200.0.253 audio quality, bidirectional (sendrecv).

    Two RTP stream can be seen in the capture file

    1: leave the package 125 & 126 (seq. 4911) 10.200.0.17-> 10.128.3.4-> 10.200.0.253

    2: from the package 129 & 130 (seq. 210) 10.200.0.253-> 10.128.3.4-> 10.200.0.17

    NMC is passed through them and was detected by the endpoint device. So invite:

    A: 10.200.0.17-> 10.128.3.1 B: 10.128.3.1-> 10.200.0.253

    <- invite="" (with="" sdp,="" t.38,media="">

    -> 488 not acceptable here

    <- invite="" (with="" sdp,="" t.38,="" media="">

    -> OK (with SDP, T.38. Media 10.128.3.4)

    T.38 was so successfully (re) - negotiated on session B as sip proxy approved the T.38. Remain sitting A in the former State (e.g. aLaw audio) from peripheral transition rejected T.38.

    Note that proxy media receive the 10.200.0.253 T.38 returns one as-is to 10.200.0.17 despite the existence is not T.38 negotiated here. Also, use packets received 10.200.0.17 are returned as-is from 10.200.0.253 (they are interpreted as T.38 packets).

    It's a little unfortunate behavior. Media proxy should recode media of the Protocol on the left side is not the same as the Protocol on the right side. Proxy SIP should not approve the change of Protocol unless it knows that the proxy media can handle them. On an ideal world, the SIP proxy should not OK T.38/reINVITE to 10.20.0.253, unless he received 10.200.0.17 OK. As a principal is not willing to talk to T.38 and media proxy cannot translate aloi<->T.38 termination invitations must be rejected.

    Well, we do not live in the perfect word and invitations request has been approved. Now, the SIP proxy know proxy media cannot handle the current configuration, then it starts attempt to return the two session at aloi (despite the A session is aLaw already):

    A: 10.200.0.17-> 10.128.3.1 B: 10.128.3.1-> 10.200.0.253

    <- invite="" (with="" sdp,="" alaw,="" media="">

    -> OK (with SDP, aLaw. Media 10.200.0.17)

    -> INVITE (with SDP, aLaw, 10.128.3.4 media)

    <- ok="" (with="" sdp,="" alaw.="" media="">

    The two sessions should be now in mode aloi. Unfortunately, despite the 10.200.0.253 received the passage to the quality he continue to use T.38.

    Conclusion:

    It seems that you hit the bug in the firmware. SPA112 must be:

    R: rejection invite T.38 to genuine, if she is unable to do it properly

    or

    B: do it right

    Moreover, in the case of 'A', the SIP proxy can nothing but complete two call legs. Aloi-> transition T.38 premature OK (as I described above) make incompatible with devices that are unable to return for T.38 to sound crude.

    What is now? You can turn in level 3 syslog and debug (voice-> System tab) and catch them. It can reveal more about the issue. But I don't know if it can reveal something that allow us to solve the problem. But you need the newspaper if you decide to report the bug to Cisco SMB TAC.

    You can report the bug in the firmware to SMB TAC even if you have no support agreement.

    Despite you have the contract assistance or not, do not put so much hope that Cisco will help you. And zero chance it will not solve the problem within a reasonable time.

  • SPA 112 - make calls over WIFI between the lines?

    Dear community

    You just bought a SPA 112 which seems to work very well, except for one thing:

    We do not seem to place calls between them the two lines (long cable between two buildings).

    It sounds but is silent and hang up after making a call and end up on the other side. Any chance of a hint?

    Also curious to know if I need to put something specific for use in Sweden? Seems to work very well, but still.

    Do I edit something else? The dial plan?

    Thanks much for any help!

    Jan A.

    1. What is the long cable? What is the cable type (disclose AWG or diameter).

    2. turn on the syslog & debug (highest level) and catch them. It can help to analyze the issue.

  • spa 112 with firmware 1.0.2 update (006)

    I recently bought a spa 112 and configured for VoIP provided by my ISP. It works more or less well, but I want to upgrade to the latest firmware to access the display and other options.

    The process of update mentioned by specifying a path where the new firmware is saved in the phone adapter Configuration utility under the administration "tab. In my case, everything that appears on the left side is the quick configuration option. This is true regardless of the current tab is selected.

    Looks like I have an older (1.0.0) hardware and firmware 1.0.2 (006) version. Could someone direct me to the procedure of updating to a more recent firmware?

    Michel

    Hi Michael, the firmware update procedure is to access this section of the unit. Looks like you have a browser problem. Try using different browsers... IE, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, etc. It is usually Java / related to the security of the browser if the GUI does not load correctly.

  • UCS C200 and NIC Teaming/FailOver

    As UCS C200 with management of a 10/100 and 10/100/two interface 1000 interfaces and PCIe with 4NIC

    I want to install CUCM 8.5 is the NIC Teaming/failover supported by UCS C200 and how to set up the NIC Managment interface with failover?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    As you install apps from the CPU on the server of the UCS, speech application team listed their recommendations here.

    http://docwiki.Cisco.com/wiki/QoS_Design_Considerations_for_Virtual_UC_with_UCS#Guidelines_for_Physical_LAN_Links.2C_Trunking_and_Traffic_Sizing

    You can create a NIC teaming in the ESXi via vSphere client software for traffic from from / destined for virtual machines.

    For C200, we have only one management port and if you use the management for MMIC traffic port, switch option is not available.

    However, if you choose to use host for MMIC traffic NETWORK ports, you can set up CIMC NIC mode for 'LOM shared' which provides the NIC teaming options.

    Dear team,

    We tried to create the channel of port between UCS FI and MDS 9124

    But the port channel do not take action in mode F on MDS 9124

    We have allowed FC uplink on FI trunking

    We have activated the MDS trunk

    Hi Jo Bo.

    What version of the software if your MDS race?

    On your UCS do connect nxos and show ficelleStringString ficelleT inteface and find the mac address.

    It is possible that you could be hitting the bug below. If this is the case, you may need to update the firmware on your MDS.

  • UCS FI and iSCSI storage

    We are poised to implement a UCS B Series. I have a question for FI 6248UP. I have read and used the emulator for UCS Manager and noticed that you can configure ports FI as ways for storage material. Is it limited to a certain protocol storage or the seller? We use Dell EQ and plan to be there to connect the EQ 6510 X. I was wondering if that is supported and if iSCSI upstream traffic would be able to access the storage?

    The 6248UPs will be passed to a pair of Catalyst 4506-E race vs. We have an IBM chassis and servers should be able to access the EQ6510X too. I guess I just need master iSCSI VLANS for the 6248UP and the servers would have access?

    Thank you!

    Hi Cowetac,

    Yes, not all storage arrays are supported by UCS, but your DELL Equalogic is supported. If you have any questions about the other compatibility of storage arrays, you can take a look at the UCS (see link below) storage interoperability matrix.

    UCS storage interoperability Matrix (matrix of the storage of UCS - B of table 10-2)

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/Datacenter/MDS9000/interoperability/matrix/Matrix8.html

    I guess I just need master iSCSI VLANS for the 6248UP and the servers would have access?

    Depends, if you use one port of the device the UCS for you connect directly to storage, you can use a single vlan.

    If you are connected via the Ethernet uplinks via a switch, you need to set your switches as a trunk port.

  • UCS-C200M2 and the performance of the 1980s...

    Has anyone deployed UCS C200 M2 boxes and tried to team onboard gigabit interfaces? I'm void Mbps deployed VM CUCM 8.5.1 performance using the prescribed Cisco 1000 user model. • UCS/Nexus and FCoE Question

    Hi all:

    Can we connect a FCoE target directly to an interconnection of fabric or a Nexus 5xxx CWF in NPV mode and not connected to an FC switch for power and tissue services continue to have the initiator see the target and be able to supply storage as a result?

    Thus, the scenario would be the following:

    a server rack with an ANC connected to a Nexus 5xxx CWF in NPV mode

    OR

    a server blade a NON related to interconnection of UCS fabric (which is also a CWF) in VAN mode

    AND

    In the above cases, there is NO CONNECTION between the RTC and an FC switch.

    I will be able to have the ANC (FCoE initiator) see table of Strorage (FCoE target)?

    Thank you

    Hello

    Yes you are right. For the direct-attached storage work, you need the FI in FC switch mode. Your explanation is good and you can not storage direct-attached mode/npv end FC host mode. With FI in npv mode, it can just transfer CF applications to an NPIV switch and cannot process any request CF as FLOGI etc...

    In addition, in the UCS versions under 2.1 you need a SAN switch connected to a FI running in mode switching and storage directly connected to it, which can push the FI database zoning. Thanks to 2.1, you can have storage direct-attached without the need for any SAN switch upstream as we have zoning capabilities in UCS now.

    In short, for all direct-attached storage, you must have FI FC Switching mode.
