UCS B200 M3 memory speed

We have recently installed a few new servers M3 B200, completely filled with DIMMS of 24 x 16 GB (1866 mhz), 2 x E5-2697 v2 processors.

Manager of the UCS poster the DIMMs properly in the inventory tab, but in the general tab, shows "Memory operating speed" 1333 MHz (same speed in the boot messages.

Controller on board: 8.0

Firmware: 2.1.3a

MMIC: 2.1.3a

Anyone know why I see the slow speed of the memory? What Miss me?

Thank you

Joe

Joe,

Take a look at table 7 here:

  • UCS B200 M1 & m2

    Hi all

I have UCS B200 M1 & M2 in a chassis. I had install ESX 4.0 Update 2 in the two server. I discovered virtual machine cannot vmotion on both ESX servers, how can I solve this problem? Thank you very much.

If you run vCenter 4.0 and you have a cluster with virtual machines running you will not be able to activate CVS. If you use vCenter 4.1 and ESX 4.1, you can activate CVS on a cluster with virtual machines running.

Try this, create a new empty cluster and levers VCA, then move one host at a time in this new cluster. After you move a host vMotion virtual machines for her and then keep doing this until all the guests/VMs are moved. I've seen cases where you cannot vMotion virtual computers in a non - EVC EVC cluster to cluster. In this case, you have to turn off the virtual machine, and then move it.

  • U350 (Intel SU2300) memory speed question

    Hi all

I was wondering, is there a way to increase the speed of the memory in u350?

Module of memory in my u350 is Hyundai ddr3 rated at 533 mhz (1066 mhz ddr) but it works

by default, only 400 mhz (800 mhz ddr).

Supports the module memory, chipset (Intel GS45 almost certainly supports it) I do not have

See a reason why ram should run at low speed and then he pointed to work to...

    is cpu maybe limit it?

    TNX for the answer

    To exy s initial question:

"Supports the module memory, chipset (Intel GS45 supports almost certainly it) I do not have.

See a reason why ram should run at low speed and then he pointed to work to... »

Modules are designed to operate at different speeds.

The processor and chipset are designed for low power usage.

Memory speed is equal to the lowest energy consumption. (And more strict timings of memory)

    Looks like a good choice for me, FSB/MEM = 1 / 2 = 800/400

Most of the laptops I've seen opt for low mem speed and better timings.

    (6 6-6-18 vs 7-7-7-20 for example)

And not a very noticeable difference in performance, IMO.

But looks like a design for low power usage decision.

I'd be willing to bet that you get very good battery life.

  • B200 M3 memory stuck at 1333 MHz in performance mode

    Hello

We have 2 B200 M3s in a new deployment running 2.0(3a). The B200s are configured with 64 GB using DIMMs of 8 GB, using BANK 0 of each channel. We deployed a policy of BIOS specifying performance for LV DDR mode and confirmed this setting takes effect in the BIOS, but the memory continues to run at 1333 MHz. When we look at the inventory server, the DIMMs are reported as 8GB 1600 MHz DIMM dual rank. We tried forcing the DIMMs in mode low voltage and return to the mode of performance without result.

In other UCS environments, we have deployed these same blades with the same configuration of the memory and BIOS policy and had no problem getting the RAM at full speed. We do not use any kind of power is corking.

    Thoughts?

    Hello

    The chipset is Intel 865PE and ICH5 with data/address Bus width; 64-bit / 32-bit
In addition, this device was shipped with 512 MB of DDR SDRAM and you expand to 2048 MB

  • Satellite Pro A100 - 828 Max memory speed

    Hello

Can someone please tell me the max speed of memory for Satellite Pro A100-828, I'm wanting to move to the 4 GB maximum but is some sites say the maximum speed is 533 MHz while others say to 667 MHz. For example, the Toshiba site lists only memory 533 MHz under the "Compatible" Options yet other sites list 667 MHz memory as compatible.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

You should check which bus (FSB) front would support.
Install the hardware diagnostic tool like Everest home edition, and you should be able to find this value.

If your chipset would support 667 Mhz then you can use these modules and the modules would go with 667 Mhz too.

  • Memory speed (BIOS) running

2 sticks of memory installed on my HP Pavilion (model #: p6605f) are: 2RX8 PC3-10600U-09-10-B0 (M378B5673FH0-CH9) that makes them a 1333 Mhz memory... BUT when I run the HP Support Assistant, he says:

    4 GB installed memory

1: 2 GB 800 Mhz Samsung other DIMM Slot

Slot 2: other DIMM 800 Mhz Samsung 2 GB

Why my memory runs at 800 Mhz , when supposedly he can run up to 1333 Mhz ?

Is this a BIOS setting? (I don't see anything in the BIOS that would allow me to control the speed of the memory)

The BIOS on the PC says:

    Installed memory: 4096 MB/PC3-6400

    1: 2048 MB DDR3 SDRAM memory bank

    Memory Bank 2: 2048 MB DDR3 SDRAM

    BIOS version: 6.05 12/08/10

    Basic version: 08.00.15

    Thanks for any help.

The reason why he turns to this speed is because the primary and secondary memory timings have been preset in the BIOS file for optimal value that was determined by HP engineers.  You can change this, but it would violate your warranty and require that you Flash a BIOS hack on your desktop-card mother s.

A module of memory will be a SPD table encoded in its firmware, which tells a BIOS what timings should be used at speeds of different buses.

To display SPD settings available for your modules you can download and run the utility CPU-z.

HP, Dell and Sony and other OEM computer manufacturers set the BIOS so it cannot be easily modified. 'S done it for a simple reason, although some might find offensive. This is to protect consumers from themselves and to ensure that their products continue to function reliably. Most of the people looking at the BIOS settings available in my gaming system (an ASUS ROG Crosshair IV) and say "it's a bunch of settings" (or worse! ). The industry feels and probably rightly, that the average PC/computer laptop/touchpad user didn't just need to be able to screw up their PC with just a few keystrokes.

  • Fix for 580 1333 or 1067 MHz memory speed?

I plan on adding memory to my six year old, Inspiron 580 for a few years of life out of it.

When I enter my service tag and run the parts finder, Dell suggest adding DDR3 SDRAM - DIMM 240 pin, 1333 MHz (PC3-10600).  However, when I ran the Dell system detects, it says my memory is DDR3-SDRAM (1067 MHz)?

In addition, said Dell web site my my service tag-based maximum configuration is 8 GB but the documentation with my 580 says 16 GB.  Because I am running Win 7 64 bit, I guess that 16 is correct as it is in agreement with Microsoft on Win7 64 bit OS.

In a related question, can I add a 4 GB DIMMS with the other three 2 GB DIMMs (10 GB in total) or do I need to use a 4 x 2 + 2 x 2 configuration (12 GB total).

    Thank you

    Scott

The specs say that you can use either 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz RAM.

Crucial recommend actually 1600 MHz RAM for this model. And the good thing is that they guarantee it works or they take it back.

Don't forget that if you mix RAM with different speeds, all of it will run at the slowerspeed. Thus 1333 and 1600 MHz RAM can operate at 1066 if you leave the old 1066 RAM installed

What about the max RAM, card of the Dell for the 580 say:

Accessible DDR3 DIMM Sockets internal memory four connector

Capacity of 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB memory module

Type of memory DDR3 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz DIMM; memory non - ECC only

Support for configurations of memory: 4 GB, 6 GB, and 8 GB

Win 7 64 bit can handle 16 GB of RAM, that does not mean that your hardware is supported by that much. The amount of RAM supported depends on the BIOS and the Intel chipset on the motherboard.

There is a demand in this thread that someone installed successfully 16 GB in the 580, but there is no way to verify that.

Earlier, I tested just as to completely stop the server and restart that seems to have helped.

except now only PSU fans go around 5 K

the system fans seem to have stabilized to the normal range of 2 to 3K.

my other UCS Server PSU fans are running at 2-2. 5 k.

Temperature is not a problem, they are both running around same time.

.. and are both under minimum load

any ideas as to why the power supply fans are vivid?

    Hi Robert,.

I guess I must also point out that your two servers have two different versions of them supply systems which explains the differences of stabilized power supply fan accelerates even after having worked around the bug, in my opinion, one of the servers may have met.  UCS-c200 has older PSUS that have two fans online so that fans can run a low speed to maintain the required temperature.  UCS-c210 m2 has newer power supplies that have only a single fan in them so they run the fans at higher speeds to maintain the required temperature.

  • UCS C220 M3 fan speed problem

I recently bought a package of Cisco UCS C220 M3 chassis and now am in a test phase.

As soon as it has been unpacked, I upgraded to the last bundle HUU - 1.5 (4) 3 and applied all the updates.  It was not far behind anyway - but I wanted to test with the latest versions first.  So much easier to upgrade now rather than later :-)

For a few days, the area was quiet and fans ran at a fairly quiet speed.  Fans worked fine - but at a slow speed, and it was quite bearable.  Even after the installation of XenServer and by installing a VM guest, he continued to run quietly for a while.

However, in the last 24 hours the fan speed have passed through the roof.  The box is literally screaming now.  What is strange, is that there is almost no load on the system and the environment is cool.  Several other devices in the basket are the normal temperatures of 25-30 degrees C all about reporting.  The chassis itself is cold to the touch.  Even the MMIC reported temperatures in the 1930s.

I saw some other assignments with prbolems similar to this which goes back some time, and they almost all referred to as upgrading to the latest firmware which has all the patches for this kind of behavior.  But in my case, I already did this.  A complete cold reboot also did not help.

Someone at - it other ideas on what could be wrong or what could be the cause?   Looks like a bug, but...

    Thank you

    Reuben

    Reuben,

I understand your point, your concern, but to give you a better idea, the fan speed may actually go up to 17000 RPMs, from, your server fans are still in a mid-range and for me, it only seems that the heat is probably not that actually dissipated when the door is closed. This is the reason why I mentioned our grids of series R which are tested with UCS and the door is in fact a mesh which ensures heat is out.

I ask this question because I have experience only having the vCenter as a separate machine whicn connects only to the network to control the ESXi hosts on 5108 chassis

as mentioned above, it is possible
