UEFI and Windows 10 licenses

I have read that with UEFI system, Windows 10 licenses are hardcoded in the UEFI firmware. This means that if I format my drive, wipe my recovery partitions and install 10 Windows from a USB key (assuming that it is not a recovery of my own drive machine, but an image downloaded from Windows written on it) it will be automatically validated and I'll have a legal installation?

Hello

If this is the same operating system supplied with the computer, it should work. It will go through a normal installation of Windows without having to request the license key.

PowerEdge T320 running Windows 2008 R2. If I plug in a USB/3 GB key and restart the server, the "starting Windows" appears for a moment and then it stops with an error. Did not a screenshot, but it's something like "UEFI environment of pre-seed error." If I disconnect the USB drive, Windows starts without a problem. How can I get Windows to boot with the USB connected?

    Simon

Problem solved. I contacted Dell support and they showed me in the right direction. I used the OOTB disk, which apparently isn't a good idea... So I used the Windows Disk Manager to delete the partition or volume off the USB key. Windows creates a "basic disk" and divided into portions of 2 TO Max. Convert the disc "GPT", it creates a large disk. Created new single partition, performed a looong format and after that, the machine boots without error.

  • UEFI and Windows 7?

Recently, I had a (different) Windows 7 machine barf at the restart and discovered that somehow, the BIOS boot model had been changed in the UEFI.  Change back solved the problem, but I ask:

Is there something to gain on a non Windows-8 machine using a UEFI boot?

I have an Area-51 computer ALX of office which was built in June-ish 2010.  I don't know if this makes a R3 or an R4.  But I was wondering if there is no reason that I should spend.  Or if it is even possible to do it on this model.

    Thoughts?

    1. I don't know definitely but I reached out to an another Rockstar for his thoughts about this.

1B. I can say I've seen a machine capable of UEFI (it's a laptop Dell Precision M6600) available from Dell in the traditional mode. It was running Win7-64 and works very well.

The BIOS settings are RAID (actually mono-disque or disk mode RAID non RAID) and legacy UEFI.

AHCI should also work, but I didn't want to play with her. Even in Legacy Mode, you still get UEFI type BIOS speed post. After clone SSD... cut the start of half (of the power switch, connection and usable desktop) 30 seconds. SATA-3 transfer speeds are crazy fast... 514/401 OPS ARE / S 61177/23950

2 Dell/Alienware (circa 2010) Area-51 is Intel 9xx cpu and x 58 chipset and is not UEFI (Legacy BIOS standard compatible). It's not really same R1 because it there was that a single model ever built so far.

  • HOW DUAL BOOT WINDOWS 8.1 AND WINDOWS 7 USING UEFI

My laptop model is HP PAVILION 15-n205tx

My laptop is installed with Windows 8.1 and I would be like Dual start with Windows 7 using a cd but when I try, there is an error saying that windows cannot be installed in the partitions selected as it is of GPT format.

Please help me dual boot my pc.

    Hello

I recently installed Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 (boot uefi) on a 17 want without any real problems, to verify the following.

    1. your use of a Windows 7 64-bit installation disc.

    2. in the start of installation, make sure that you select the CDROM (UEFI) as a boot device.  Note:  If you see the CDROM option, always turn off the laptop with Windows 7 inserted disc, start it and immediately typing away at f9 to launch the Start Menu and see if the CDROM (UEFI) option is now listed.

Once installed, you can check if your booting from firmware by opening a command prompt, type bcdedit/enum and press on enter – you should see .efi as a suffix for the startup path.

    Kind regards

  • Windows 7 and Window Server 2008 license

I got Dell workstations with WIndows 7 and Windows 2003 OS. I want to know if these licenses are related to hardware, which in the case where all my workstation fails and replace it with the new job, can I use a license for the OS on the new workstation. If this isn't the case, then what can be done to make this current independent license machine.

    Thanks in advance.

Its the same as the OEM license, it has no transfer of rights once his load on this machine. Windows 7 Embedded is used in solutions of the industry such as kiosks, retail point-of-sale devices to and other types of retail basic scenarios.

  • 8 64-bit downgrade from windows 7 32-bit Windows, how do I disable UEFI and GPT

I brought a new laptop preinstalled Windows 8. After 2 days, I decide it downgrade to my previous windows 7. I have over 2 TB of HDD, so I do not think that UEFI and GPT is good for me. I use Diskpart to convert GPT on the MBR. However, I received a warning message when I installed Windows 7, it says "Setup could not create a new partition system.

Also, I went into the BIOS, it seemed to me that I could not disable UEFI. Maybe I could find a few early versions for a test.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    LW

You will need to go to your bios settings disable secure boot and also change it to mode inherited from wood. also select USB and CD boot options
Then when your computer starts on the button of start menu (usually f12) and select your operating system support is on
Follow these instructions on activation of your downgrade after installation

  • Dell Precision M4700 (Windows 7 pro) starts not once configured with UEFI and Secure Boot

To all those who can help you:

I got a Dell Precision M4700 and I update bios A05. I was intending to move to Windows 8. Everything was fine and the bios update was successful. I started the new bios under Windows 7 Professional (base OS) factory-installed and was very good.

However, I can't get into the bios (not even see the POST from Dell or Logo) after I activate the UEFI and Secure Boot. This before I update to Windows 8 Pro. Now I'm stuck with a blank screen (same LCD not lit) and nothing to start. It's like a dead PC.

Help, please. Is that what I can do or should I contact Dell Support for repair?

    Thank you

I fixed it!  Just removed the CMOS battery, the BIOS got reset back to factory default.  So I did:

    (1) remove the battery

    (2) press the power button to the case of ground

    (3) remove the lower panel

    (4) disconnect the CMOS battery (it's tedious)

    (5) I hit the power button for some time (30 s) to clear the capacitors or something else, it was my theory, but I doubt it's necessary

    (6) use it to all back to the start

When I turned it on it turns on and turns off several times before finally stay standing and I was then able to enter the BIOS and all the settings have been restored to factory default.  I am new to Windows 7 on my machine so I'll repeat the process, this time without disabling the legacy option roms!

  • Can I use creative cloud on 2 computers (Mac and Windows) with a single license?

    Hello

I have an individual license of creative cloud. Can I use creative cloud on 2 computers (Mac and Windows) with a single license?

Yes, your single-user license allows unlimited installations (but limited to, at most, two concurrent connections and you can use only one at a time).

Just install the application of cc desktop on any computer that you want to use with your subscription to the cc, Download Adobe Creative Cloud apps | CC free trial Adobe

  • CS5.5 license on 2 computers? Mac and Windows?

    Hello

I own a CS5.5 (student and teacher) for Mac license. Recently I bought more to my Macbook a Windows PC. I would use Adobe programs at a time. Is it possible to use my existing license for both, or do I have to buy a new for Windows?

Only the creative Cloud version can be installed and enabled on Mac and Windows.

The perpetually licensed version is specific platform: Windows only or Mac only.

Your Mac version can be installed and actovated on two Macs (but not Windows)

You will need to purchase a separate version of Windows, which will allow you two activations for Windows only. However, CS6 is the current version and the only one available with the purchase of Adobe.

  • HP Elite x 2 1011 G1 L5G47EA: HP Elite x 2 1011 G1 UEFI and virtualization

    Hi *.

I have situation as follows. More then a week ago I had my HP Elite x 2 1011 G1 tablet with a keyboard of HP and Windows Pro 8.1 power on board.  I like more a Windows 10 Pro so I purchased a single license and installed.

Looks like I had to fast and I forgot to create a copy of recovery of Windows Pro 8.1. Later I discovered that although I have a W8.1 USB recovery partition EFI of W10 upgrades so that the W8.1 copy is not accepted in the future. However for me it is not a main issue.

One of the main reasons why I bought this set is Intel® Core™ processor M-5Y51, which supports Intel® (VT - x and VT - d) virtualization technology. I need it for my study, work and research. However, there is a problem. I need to activate it in the UEFI/BIOS. When I press ESC and F10 later, I need to sign in with the Windows credentials. It worked like a charm with no problems. Finally, I go to the Advanced tab in the top menu. I see options, but they are gray and I can't select required options.

Why? How it is possible to solve? Thank you.

  • Satellite U940 - 12 c: Windows 8 license code?

    Hello.

I own a Toshiba Satellite U940 - 12 c. Due to a sequence of horrific circumstances, I'm done with a laptop without Windows 8 and without access to the recovery partition. If there is no idea of how to make to access these data recovery, please tell me.

But the question is: How can I get my copy of Notepad of Windows 8 license code? Is it possible?

    Thank you and goodbye.

If you can access the recovery partition on ordinary road, there is no other way to do and saved on your laptop recovery image is useless. It is a pity that you n t have created a recovery media that could be used for a clean install of Win8.

Maybe you don't believe this, but the license key is also useless and cannot be used for a clean install of Windows. This code is part of the original pre-installed version you got with your laptop.

Best option for you is to order the original recovery disk and use it for Win8 installed. You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
