Ultrabook Envy6-1100sl: install a 2nd OS on the msata SSD - Envy6-1100sl

Hi, I upgraded my envy6 with 16 GB Crucial RAM and 500 GB samsung SSD evo. After upgrade, I did a clean install of windows 10 and stopped to use the itegrated msata ssd. My question is:
Can I install a second operating system on the msata ssd? Can this bios read the second OS on the msata? Is there a procedure to follow?
Thank you

Thanks for suggesting it, but I've created a simple way... I just installed the second OS on the msata. At startup the sistem starts automatically on my main drive (500 GB win10), but if I press F9 when starting, I can see my linux on second drive (32 GB msata) and just choose to start when I need.
Don't need to grub or similar just manual choice, and that's what I wanted!

  • Can I install a 2nd video card on my HP Pavilion a6683w desktop PC to allow me to use 2 monitors?

I want to extend my desktop using 2 monitors.  My HP Pavilion a6683w Destop PC has only a port monitor.  I'm wanting to run 2 monitors on it and I was wondering if it is possible to install a 2nd video card (the existing one is a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430).

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion a6683w. According to specifications, your computer uses an nVidia GeForce 6150SE integrated graphics card and also supports PCI Express x 16 graphics cards. Integrated graphics card is not available if a graphics card is installed. In addition, specifications, your computer has a 250 watt power supply. Most of the retail graphics cards will require a minimum of a 300 Watt power supply.

    From the information above, I think you have two options;

    (1) according to your needs, more an adapter USB-to-video, such as EVGA UV + UV39. This adapter is available on Newegg.com, Amazon.com, and as well as many EVGA.com to other places. It is possible that another brand/model will work as well. This solution is good for day trading, spreadsheets, word documents, web browsing, etc.

    (2) If you do heavy gaming or graphic treatment, I suggest an upgrade of power supply and graphics card. For more information on this topic, see Guide of Dave_G for a discrete video card selection .

  • I need drivers to install Win7 64 bit on mSATA SSD

    Hello!

    I need drivers to install WIN7 x 64 on THNSNH256GMCT mSATA SSD

Serial number on my product is 23NS10BFTABY

    Thank you!

This serial number does not help much. It will be better if you can display the name of the exact model laptop and the model number.

Anyway, visit Toshiba support and download page for your country and if your laptop model is supported for Win7 64 bit, you should be able to find all of the necessary drivers, tools and utilities.

  • Y580: OS install on new mSATA SSD disk HARD + mSATA SSD config

    Hi guys,.

I was wondering if anyone has done this? I have the 1 TB HDD + 32 GB mSATA config, but I want to install a new mSATA SSD possibly of 128 or 256 for my operating system and applications. I heard there was a problem with the removal of partitions due to Lenovo Rapid Storage. Has anyone successfully circumvented this?

I guess that separate readers via these instructions http://78.9.150.202/pub/RapidDrive.pdf
then saving them, putting in the mSATA SSD again and do a clean install should work.

  • Hard drive not detected after adding 2nd mSATA SSD for HP Envy 14 1002tx

    Hello

I'm having a problem when adding an extra mSATA SSD for my HP Envy 1002tx model.

The laptop comes with a 500 GB HARD drive and I see that there is a 2.5 "mSATA SSD slot under the HARD drive, so I bought the same type of SSD and installed it but when I turn on the laptop, it does not introduce yourself. I don't know why?

I want to have an SSD for boot up the laptop and HARD drive to store animals.

If anyone knows if there is any software I have to install in order for the laptop to recognize the SSD?

    OR

Is - this material is defective?

    Thank you in advance!

I'm really sorry, I could not find this before, but the slot under the hard drive is not compatible with the mSATA disks. It's for WWAN modules! Your laptop is not like 4 I thought, but Envy 14 equipped with the first generation of Intel processors. Envy 14-Sandy Bridge 2000 series could be BIOS modded to make the miniPCI-e interface works with the mSATA disks but Envy 14-1000 series is not possible to change.

Edit: 2.5 "drive 256GB solid state drive is listed as compatible.

  • Silence X 230: Swap HDD to SSD or install mSATA SSD HARD disk?

    Hello

I have a x 230 with a 320 GB of HDD (7500 RPM) and want to replace it with an SSD for a fully automated machine.

Right now, most of the time the only sound I hear the machine is the rotation of the disk HARD and TP Fancontrol watch that especially fans are not at all turns. I can afford a 128 GB SSD, but I am confused if I should replace the HDD with a SSD or complete with an mSATA SSD and install Windows, instead. The latter of course would give me 320 GB of HARD drive space, which would be nice, but my priority is the silence, so I need to know if the HARD drive can be powered completely except when I need files from it? If the HARD disk wakes up now and then because of some hidden Windows processes that I can't control, I'd rather than with an ordinary SSD instead of the mSATA SSD. I can live with less space.

Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thank you

If you install your operating system and applications on the mSATA ssd and just use the HARD drive for file storage then I think the HARD drive will only turn up when you access these specific files.

Control Panel (Power Options) and Lenovo Power Manager settings for the hard disk turns off after a period of inactivity. However, the settings apply to all readers. Individual hard drives have no separate settings. I think that the system will not shut down the drive hard as long as there is activity going on in an mSATA SSD.

  • mSATA SSD installed in Inspiron 15r SE 7520

    Hello

I just finished the task of replacing marathon 32 GB SSD with a 240 GB mSATA we.

I cloned my existing hard drive with Macrium reflect, and his beautiful fixed so far.

I have a few questions tho.

    (1) the original 1 TB HARD drive and the new mSATA SSD have additional partitions hidden. There is a 500 MB EFI system partition, a 40 MB OEM partition, a recovery 490 MB, drive C partition (on the SSD and renamed E disk the disk of 1 TB) and a final recovery 12.16 GB partition.

Can I remove the additional partitions since the original 1 TB drive? Do I need them on the new SSD more?

    (2) Intel rpaid start continuous technology to Flash a warning that he is not running. I've turned off to allow the DSS work. Then I uninstalled it. I get the warning tho. Any way I can get rid of him?

    Thank you!

    Ok thank you.

If the million dollar question: how to do a fresh install of windows 8, or even windows 7 if it is easier, on the mSATA SSD?

I tried from the DELL restore USB I did. No luck. Put the original image on 931 GB HARD drive.

If all goes well a new facility can sort, which brings back me to the issue of the $ 1 million!

    EDIT:

Think I've sorted it. I used macrium reflect to remove all hidden from the original HARD disk partitions. I changed the BIOS to boot from the mSATA SSD first, using UEFI and start-up.

I uninstalled quick start windows 8 search engine. Everything looks good today.

  • Satellite P200-1EE I can install a 2nd hard drive in the Bay of spare?

    First of all, Hi everyone!

I have the laptop model above, and he has a spare drive Bay. There are connectors for pins at one end, but it doesn't seem like the drive will fit. It's like there's a missing - like component case Connector for the 1st disk slot. I bought a 500 GB drive and tried to see if he would be in shape. The 1st disk has a metal basket attached, and who does not.

Is it possible to install a 2nd drive for this model? If so, what would need to do?

    Thank you!

    Andy

    Hello

If you have a connector in the second HARD drive Bay, you can add a second HDD. But you will need a wire basket as on the first HARD disk. Therefore, you can contact an authorized service provider because you can get all the parts on their part.

On the Toshiba site Web is a list of all ASP s, check it!

  • How to install a 2nd 10.2.0.5 SGD without the "upgrade database" step?

    Colleagues DBA...

We have Environment OEM using SGD version 10.2.0.5 - it has recently been upgraded to the 10.2.0.1 Basic version.

We are trying to install a 2nd SGD. To do this, we install 10.2.0.1 base release and apply then the 10.2.0.5 patch - however, during the patch installation, Setup tries to 'upgrade' once again - the database, this causes the installation to hang, and finally we crash out of the facility.

Anyone know how to bypass this? Is there a flag to skip this step? I thought it would be something like "softwareonly", but I can't find anything that works...

    Hello guys,.

Today, I installed a new Nocti of OCZ 60 GB SSD in my x 220 msata location. at the same time, I got a hitachi 320 GB 7200 RPM lenovo stock disc.

the ssd is perfectly recognized by the bios. I use version 1.22.

now, I want to install win7 on my ssd, which has already been installed on my hard drive.

I put my copy of win7 on a USB key, it starts, select windows install.

However, arriving at the screen "Select the driver to install.", I get an error thrown to me:

I have not driver on my hd/ssd and States of Web site of ocz which a) none is needed, and b) that none is provided.

I tried to install without having the hd attached, the same error.

Any of you guys have ideas on how to possibly solve the problem?

    See you soon!

for one, I have not use this ssd in a laptop.
    It's a terrible sandforce laptop.
You must use one of the intel ready models boot much better power profile.
more sandforce tell it different not good for the laptop.

    What is a clone?
you did, or a copy of win 7 with the windows 7 usb tool.

You must use a very important 4 GB model or bios does not have a usb of larger size.
    more little won't hold win7.
You must convert an iso, then make the USB bootable and had not accused the file system on the key.
I use a special wrench just to install win 7 only.

in the bios, you can select the USB as a boot first or 2nd order.
2nd, so you must press the start command menu to select a boot device.
you not on port 0 is your right to Board, you will need to select the first boot to usb in this menu.
Make sure also that in bios flat disk of port 0 is not stopped the ist and the msata is moved to the top online.

some easy ways could be pulling the 2.5 and then he select auto.
You must specify the pc what you're doing.
you don a thing out of use and who does not go to port 0 but a new port for the reader.

If you select usb in the bios the first order when you reboot your system with the installation it will reinstall in a loop that why tyou select not this first, but use the menu screen. F9 or something depoends on the pc manufacturer.
If you fall into a traction of the loop, the main cause of the image is already there so next restart windows by default to the disk image and complete the installation.

I know a lot of info here but win 7 can be easy to install or hard depending on if you have it down pat.
I did over 100 installs so I know everything inside and out and even I forgot to do something from time to time.

Check again it is a good image on the button who made the right size in the right way and he fully bootable (huge deal - bootable)).
Select the msata as the new boot ist or 2nd as rom is foirst for most.
    the old disk is 2nd.
PROMT you F to select the USB drive as the new boot device.
is nothing another pluged and do not use the combined port but I did lol he worked or sata port 3.

ALSO - it's a big deal make sure that usb get you is a start control device which means power immediately.
normally we lone usb on most laptops.
Some will not be powered until this that completely initialized, this means no power when first restart.
Commen problem on mobile phones when we have the beta version of windows on the USB.
Some phones only maintain a usb on the first step.

look at the light of thumb it will show if cela a port not starting.

  • Envy 17 t n100: help adding 2nd drive 256 GB SATA SSD (TLC) m2

    Hi all

I'm a noob advanced and need some advice and assistance, I just bought an n-100 Envy 17 t. Lack of resources, I don't have the 2nd drive 256Go M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) or pull the memory up to 16 GB max. Memory should be 1 stick of 8 Go DDR3L-1600 to max the16GB?

    Here are my specs.

    murrayotl

Put simply, assuming you want to migrate to Windows from the HARD drive of 1 TB to a 256 GB SSD, there is no simple way to do it.

The best way to do it, as I've done several times, is to use a third party called Macrium Reflect application.  It's free and will lets you clone (1) a drive - make an exact copy of a disc on another and (2) image/restore disks - a copy of a disc and then copy on a second disc.

If you can climb both drives at the same time, then (1) is the way to go.  Otherwise, to do (2), you must clone the drive to an external drive, plug the new external drive and then 'restore' from the hard drive to the new drive.

When the first doping, select the option "Backup--> Image disks selected" to clone the current drive to the new drive.

When you do the second, select "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key

The PROBLEM you have is that a partition of 1 TB is wrong simply to fit on a disk of 250 GB - if you have work to do.  You should run Disk Manager to narrow down the OS partition to be used in total less than 250 GB of disk space.

You can run the Windows disk management by following the steps below:

    (1) Control Panel to type in the search box

    2) click on Control Panel

    3) click on Administrative Tools

    4) click on disk management

Once there, you will see the list of partitions.  Select the one which contains the OS (or great) and see how you can reduce it.  On the 1 TB drive, you will have to drop below 200 GB - to be sure.

The PC will then probably need to reboot to make the changes.

Once you have restarted in Win10, install Macrium Reflect - and follow the instructions I left above.

Once the migration is completed, stop your PC, replace the SSD HARD drive and reboot.

If all goes well, you should start in Win10 without any problem.

    Good luck

  • Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is a MBR patition table.

I recently bought a desktop computer with Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 preinstalled (OEM). I tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 on this computer, but I received the following error message:

    HP_RECOVERY (D :)) 13.37 GB NTFS - healthy (Primary Partition))

I'm trying to install a new copy of Windows.

Disconnect your 2nd monitor temporarily, then go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

If there are Windows 7 drivers, then to download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card drivers mother/chipset, SATA, LAN, Audio, USB, graphics, Webcam, Etc., and so on.

  • Try to install additional Manager - "cannot start the Volumes App Manager.

I am trying to install a 2nd Manager, the installation went well and the service starts, but landing page displays "boot failure":

I installed the native client SQL 2012 and updated the DSN (x 86 and x 64) to use this instead as a test driver, but it made no difference.  I followed the documentation and unchecked the box replace, so my main Manager is always fully operational.

    Any ideas?

It was the permissions, but not to the msdb database.  I had set the default for the user [dbo] schema, but what worked was [db_owner] (he always had the db_owner role, btw).  Small change, began services, all systems go.

  • Unable to start the 2nd part of the installation

"Essentially, installation for WebCenter (WCS) Sites is not the point to halfway. This "point to halfway", this is where the installer invites us with the window "Installation Actions. In this window, we are responsible for deploying the WCS and the CASE of the applications on our application server (we chose WebLogic), restart WebLogic and then click a button of 'TEST' to see if the deployments are successful and the database can be reached.

We were able to deploy applications successfully, and then once we clicked on 'TEST', all tests have passed. Then we click 'OK' to go forward with the 2nd part of the installation (where it is supposed to create database tables, etc.). However, this is where the installation appears to hang, 73% full. It does not all tables in database, does not seem to do anything and it connects not further to indicate what may be possible problems.

Indeed, the only record we found is under < Toilet installation directory > / ominstallinfo/install_log.log. It shows no errors, and final recording is the success of the tests in "Midway". If there is a way to generate more registration, please let us know.

The WebLogic logs generated when we restarted WebLogic ("as indicated in the point to halfway") show that there is no error in connection to the JDBC Data Source, which the WCS and CASE applications have been deployed successfully, and that all servers are entered successfully comes back online.

If someone wants to see the logs, please let me know.

We have done all the previous tasks required with installation, and if someone wants to see our environment WebLogic startup scripts configurations or configurations of database (we use Oracle 11 g), we can also supply those. We run WebLogic with an Admin Server and a server named managed_server_1. We deployed the WCS and the CASE of the applications on this server instance. We are also running Apache plug-ins for WebLogic.

    Another thing I noticed:
It seems that for the 2nd part of the installation, there is a 'Install' button that is not clickable. Maybe a main question is, how do this clickable button?

Please let us know if you need more information. Your help will be greatly appreciated, as we seem to be stuck after the point to halfway to the installation.
