Unable to activate plugin vCenter data recovery

I installed the plugin for vCenter Data Recovery and I went into the Pugins manage and it is listed as disabled. If I right click it nd select activate, nothing happens.  No error, but it does not either. Someone at - there experience this problem?

chiazynloo,

Build numbers seem to be off - unlike the version numbers correct for Beta 2 or RC build recovery of data and vCenter Server 4.0 RC respectively.  Where did you got these bits?

  • vCenter data recovery - is it upgrade for VCB

    Hello

I wonder if vCenter data recovery is an upgrade for existing ESX enterprise clients using VCB, or it is a new product which must be purchased?

    any ideas?

VMware data recovery is intended as a product recovery and backup of disk to disk for virtual machines.

The product is included in some editions of vSphere and downloadable and add-on for some of the other (for example standard).

    hope that helps,

    Hi guys,.

I don't have the time to investigate this, but I was wondering if you can get started me.

I installed vCenter4 and have only 1 host ESX 4 up to now (ESX4i).

I attributed an enterprise of this machine license.

I can't see the plugin for recovering data anywhere in my vCenter.

    What Miss me?

I'm going through the documentation as we speak. Thank you

Have you downloaded vDR from the download page where you went to get vCenter/ESX 4.0? Once installed, you will need to go to the Plug-ins and download/activate the plugin. This is at least the case for VCB, VUM, etc..

  • Restore backups of data to different vcenter server recovery

    Hello

We have separated closed vCenter in our society in different places, I'm just starting to use Vmware Data Recovery instead of VCB for backups. Is it possible to restore the backup of Vmware Data Recovery of Virtual Machines to a different vCenter Server?

If you can, you could point me to documentation that shows how?

    Thank you

    Glenn

You can create another device VDR with the same data from disk (or NAS share).

Then connect to this device (you can also use the VDR plugin when you are connected to a host, not only when you are connected to vCenter) and wait until it import the backup catalog.

  • VMware Data Recovery 2 in a vCenter Server

    Hi all

I need a base backup of VMS backup solution. I know that each camera VDR is bounded to vCenter server, you might not use vcenter several with one camera VDR. But in a sense the opposite? I use several VDR devices with a vCenter server? I know about the limits of the VDR and probably I can achieve limit of 2 TB and only solution in this case use another camera VDR, but I don't know if it is possible to use more than a VDR with a vCenter.

You can use up to 10 of VDR with a VirtualCenter.

Look at the "VMware Data Recovery Administration Guide" on page 16:

    Special data recovery Compatibility Considerations:

Ten aircraft recovery backup of data for each instance of vCenter server.

  • ESXi 4.1 + VMware Data Recovery 1.2 (without vCenter)

    Hello

I installed VMware Data Recovery 1.2 on my ESXi 4.1 and when I connect to VMware Data Recovery I get the message "connected to the ESX Server, automatic backups will not be made.

This means that scheduled backups only work if I receive vCenter? I without vCenter run backups manually?

That is right. vDR is configured to discover your VM inventory via vCenter. The vDR is designed to provide a central interface for your VM backup/restore via vCenter.  The cool thing about this is that vDR keep track of your virtual machines if you transfer them via vMotion, HA, DRS, etc. But, Yes, you NEED vCenter.

  • Used to install VMware Data Recovery Plugin

I am trying to install the Plugin data recovery VMware on one XP SP3 machine that is running the version of vSphere Client 4.0.0 build 162856.  I run the VMwareDataRecoveryPlugin.msi file and I get the message "VMware VSphere Client is required for the installation".  Course, the client is installed, but for some reason any he thinks.  Anyone else run into this?  I installed the plugin on several other PCs so I know it works.  There is something different in this case, and I can't understand that.

Thanks in advance for the help.

What version of the plugin are you using?

Have you tried to reinstall the vSphere client?

  • vCenter, ESX (3.5 & 4), data recovery

The data recovery component can be added to an ESX 3.5 or 4.0 server?

If Yes, what is the pn and the cost?

    ?:|

You can add the data recovery for ESX 4.0 ratings (SKU: VS4-STD-C + SnS is required)

But you also need to vCenter Server, cause of data recovery is integrated into this tool.

    n.1 iSCSI storage

    n.1 vcenter server.

Can I use entire vmware vcenter server data recovery? I have an another iscsi storage to make backups.

    Best regards.

Yes, vCenter vSphere 4.0 is required for vDR and will be necessary. Take a look at the comparison table of different editions: http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/buy/editions_comparison.html

Most resembles the way forward or you can use advanced or higher if you need more features.

You can also buy the vDR separately as a la carte in question, take a look at how to buy for vDR: http://www.vmware.com/products/data-recovery/buy.html

  • Installation location of data recovery

This seems to be a stupid question, but data recovery software VMWare (not the device component) is supposed to be installed on the VCenter server or a host computer that you use to connect to VCenter with the VSphere client?  I guess that's the VCenter server, but I keep seeing people talk about using data without VCenter recovery so it looks that it can be installed on a client that connects to the VCenter server via the VSphere client.

    Thank you... Rich.

    Hello

Yes, it's a client plugin that can be installed on any machine where you make the VI client sessions to your server host or vCenter.

While I can't give you a solution, I can share that I had a similar problem with an SRM installation.  Like yours, mine was a working facility which, for some strange reason, began to exhibit the same symptoms.  Start the service, in a second or two, stopped service.

I opened a ticket with VMware on the issue and in more than three months of back and fourth Exchange with various Tech support I have ever received a satisfactory answer on what caused it.  The 'solution' they gave me was to remove the database SQL RS and re - install SRM.  This 'solution' has worked, but if this question comes up, I'll probably have to back unpleasant, emphasizing the fact that they solve the problem.

I wish I could be more help, but that's it.  I feel your pain.

  • Data recovery backup job fails with error-3902

Version of the device - 1.2.0.1131

Data store - cifs datastore - 489 gb

Number of backup VMS - 26

Average size vm - 25 GB

Question I get is "unable to create snaptshot for vmnamehere, error-3902 (file error)."

I tried ping all the esx host, which works very well, as well as vcenter host, very much so.  I put the esx hosts and vcenter host in/etc/hosts file too.

I restarted the vdr unit that works very well.

I can take snapshots of the virtual machines manually as well.

Backups have worked on those virtual machines in the past and just stopped all of a sudden.

    Integrity controls work.

    What else can I try?
