Hi John,
Thanks for the post. I understand that you are unable to connect the WD external drive.
I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this.
To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
1. you receive an error code or message?
2. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?
3 have you tried to connect the external hard drive on another USB port?
Please follow the methods and mark the question below:
Method 1:
I suggest you to run the Microsoft Fix It from the link below.
Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows:
http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us
Method 2:
Uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers.
You can check after uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers if you are able to connect. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:
a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
b. click System and Maintenance, click System and then click on Device Manager.
Note: If the control panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
c. in the Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.
d. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.
Then, restart your computer and Windows will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.
Note: Connect USB devices to the computer once the drivers of conflict are uninstalled, and once the computer is restarted.
If you are still having the same problem then you can check the device USB drivers updated using windows update.
Method 3:
WD external drive is not recognized or detected in Windows XP after installation and use

Connect two monitors to my laptop HP
I have a laptop dv7 HP Envy.
Windows 8.1
Inter Core i 7-3630QM [email protected] GHz
16 GB of Ram
64 bit
1 TB HD
Intel HD Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 635 m
2 monitors:
HP w2207h W? : 1 - HDMI. 1 VGA & 1-USBin.
2 - Out USB
Monitor 27 '' LCD HNC
HDMI 1
HDMI 2
VGA
I would like to connect two monitors to this laptop. The laptop has: 1-HDMI; 1 VGA.
This seems to be a slam dunk, it's not. They put the VGA and HDMI so close together that I can't connect both at the same time. It's as if they force the VGA or HDMI. I am a general contractor and need two monitors if possible. I look at work photos on an all in utiizing a drawing program to produce plans of work on another. There are 1/4 "between the VGA and HDMI imput plugs I would have been Golden, but they did not. Can anyone suggest a way to get these two monitors plugged and upward and running.
Thank you

Tecra 9100: Unable to connect external monitor to the APR III Plus via DVI
Hello
I have a laptop Tecra 9100 that I try to use with an Advanced Port Replicator III (APR3 +) to connect to an LCD flat screen widescreen Dell via the DVI connector, but so far without success. All other connections on the APR3 + operate without problem, the monitor stir however not until Windows finishes loading, how it shows a totally white screen with black bars very close down vertically.
I upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS and tested all the cables, but in vain. I also carefully searched from Toshiba Web site, but the only document which deals with taken ports supported on the APR3 + I can find does not list my laptop model at all. Please can you tell me if this mode of operation is supported and if it is how to enable it?
Alternatively, if it is not supported, could I use a VGA - DVI cable to connect the APR3 + LCD flat screen?Concerning
Ross.Hello
I see that you have updated the BIOS. I think that it was not a bad idea, but you also need to check if you have installed the latest version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3.
I don't know if that helps, but please check. How to check the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3
-Select Control Panel in the start menu.
S ' please click on ' Add / Remove Programs "from the control panel.
-TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 for Windows XP V3.xx.xx.XP"appears in the list of software to ' Add or Remove Programs".
-If the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 installed on your computer is V3.19.00.XP or more, please upgrade to the new version V3.21.00.XP.How to upgrade the TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 to version V3.21.00.XP
-Uninstall the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile extension 3
-Restart the computer.
-Download the new version, unzip it by running, and run "Setup.exe" from the compressed file. -
Portege R500: unable to connect the remote DVI monitor via Dynadock
Hello
I just connected Dynadock (DVI) with my Portege R500. The cell would be supported - according to Toshiba - but my experience confirms that Dynadock is not able to access the DVI ports. This implies, that Dynadock is nothing more than the USB HUB.
My setup: Vista 32 company b (CZE edition), the latest patches, Toshiba R500.
Software: latest dynadock software 2.3 c.
Symptom: I can't connect to the remote DVI monitor via the dynadock, there are only two external panels with 800 x 600, but Vista does not allow me to choose.
More information: software Dynadock requires to run without Microsoft Defender, otherwise it blocks the service: DisplayLinkService; file:C:\Program Files\DisplayLink base Software\DisplayLinkService.exe
If you turn off the MSDef, the "error 2738" message appears when you connect the dynadock and when Vista tries to install a missing drivers for you.
Yes, I know the VBS question and the problem is not caused by VisualBasic - VBS "Hello World" runs.If you think always, Toshiba Dynadock is compatible with Toshiba R500, then press Fn + F5 and look at your logs and you should find something like:
In English: igfxext.exe throws an exception 0xc000000d, offset 0x0000f9f8.I look forward to the comments, advice etc. If you are able to transmit this bug report to a responsible engineer, do please.
Hello Leo
As far as I know, Toshiba has not designed for laptops models own only Dynadock and it can be used on every laptop or fixed. Because of this, I think that this statement about model of care is not so important for this problem.
Toshiba provides devices and software. To connect using the USB port, and these ports must each computer or laptop. I hope that you have installed the software by following the on-screen instructions (device of should not be connected to the start-up of the plant).
Is your Portege docked the host or you have connected Dynadock directly in Portege s USB port?

Connect the monitor to the laptop with displayport/DVI
Help, I have a laptop Dell 1749 Studio. The machine is less than a year. There an i5-520 with 8 GB and Intel HD graphics. I connect to a monitor ACER X233H. I used the VGA connector on the laptop but wanted a more secure connection. I bought a Displayport DVI cable, but the monitor says "No Signal" I googled around but not found help with Win7 system.
The photos are interesting. According to the photos, the cable connector is a DL-DVI-D, and the monitor is a DVI - D. I wonder if that causes problems?
I have an old Samsung 203 b monitor. The monitor has the same connector DVI - D, like the ACER. I downloaded the driver on the Samsung site, on the laptop. When everything is connected, the laptop does not detect the Samsung. The message reads 'another display not detected. This is an another can of worms that I won't do side followed with.
Time to try another cable, I think, with a regular DVI - D connector.

Unable to connect a wireless printer with laptop computer since the reset wireless router
I have a wireless HP C4580 printer that connects to my Acer Aspire laptop using windows 7. The two have worked together very well for months. My wireless router stopped working a few days ago, so I had to unplug the device to make it work again is it. But since then, I can't get my lap top to communicate with the printer now.
I went all the problem of shooting and insured the printer is on line and set it as default printer. I even did a system restore, as suggested in the troubleshooting
With the help of the program are the two messages that I get now troubleshooting
1 that the C4500 series can be contacted via the network (this is the message that I had before the restoration also)
2 the C4500 series is not shared with the homegroupAll the tips are greatly appreciated in progressive simple language as possible as I am a bit useless with computers
I assume that the printer is all first directly connected on the router, then the laptop? Access the router and make sure that the printer is listed as a "wireless client" connection If this isn't the case, you should probably restore the wireless "link" between the printer and the router then the printer should work.

How to activate only the monitor and disable laptop external display?
I have a widescreen monitor Setup at work and to activate the external monitor, however always want to use the keyboard of the laptop for all my typing. Is there a way to disable the screen of my laptop (since no matter what single arrangement will cause some RSI) and have only the display of the external monitor?
I was able to do this under windows, with an option to display 'Extended '.
I'm not sure there is an OS X equivalent to 'Extended screen only', but if I understand what you want to try it properly:
With the external monitor connected, in the Apple menu > System Preferences > displays click the Arrangement tab move the bar on the external display. Then position the laptop screen so that the upper right corner is aligned with the lower-left corner of the outside (it's evil to make you hover over accidentally to the wrong screen):
Close the preferences window by clicking on the red button at the top left.
Now on your laptop, turn off your laptop screen brightness completely.

X 1 carbon 20 has 7 - unable to detect the monitor on the dock Onelink DisplayPort
Hi, I recently brought a pro Onelink dock for my carbon X 1 so I can connect to my Acer XB270HU monitor when I'm at my desk. But when I try to connect using the Displayport on the platform I'm unable to connect and windows seem to be unabe to see Webs. I tried 3 different cables and the thing came. I am able to connect to the other monitors using DVI from the dock of Onelink simply not Displayport.
Well, I noticed there was a new drivers and firmware for the dock relesed recently so I thought I'd give this proplem another shot.
I can now confirm that with the v2.30.00 of v11015 and the firmware of the driver everything works perfectly.

Need help to connect the monitor to Dell Inspiron Dell
I recently bought a laptop computer Inspiron 17R in order to reduce the use of my laptop Precision M6600. A Dell U2312HM monitor has been used precisely as a second monitor and I want to use with the Inspiron system newly acquired as a second monitor. The different video ports on both of these computers and I failed to get the monitor to work with the Inspiron. While the accuracy using an older VGA connection, the new Inspiron using a HDMI connection. To further complicate the issue, the monitor has several ports to connect to a source of video output, which includes the DisplayPort, DVI, VGA and ports for USB connections upstream and downstream, but not including HDMI. I used a DisplayPort to HDMI Cable adapter trying to to connect the Inspiron to the monitor, but could not produce an image on the screen of the monitor. This continuous monitor to answer correctly when it is attached to the precision via the VGA cable & port so I'm confused as to why I had no luck by attaching the monitor to the new system with the adapter DisplayPort to HDMI. How can the Inspiron 17R be connected to the monitor Dell U2312HM?
Computer output HDMI cannot convert a monitor of DP (DisplayPort) using a straight through cable.
What you have purchased is designed to do the opposite.
Computer RFP out for monitor HDMI inRegardless of the port, you will get only ever 1920 x 1080 on the U2313HM. Return this cable. Buy a DVI HDMI to =.
Computer output HDMI--> HDMI DVI--> DVI U2313HM Cable in
