According to me, only missing me something very simple. I have 5 computers connected between them and all, but we can speak with others. 3 computers running Win XP and Win 7-2. Bart is running Win XP and is connected by wire to a router, and can talk to the other 4 computers. Lisa is running Win 7 and is connected by wire to a router, and can talk to all computers but Bart. Maggie is running Win XP and is connected to a hub that is connected to the router. Maggie can talk to all the computers, but Bart. Homer is running Win XP and is connected to a hub that is connected to the router. Homer can speak to all computers but Bart. Margin is running Win 7 and is connected to a hub that is connected to the router. Margin can also talk about all the computers, but Bart. I do not understand why I can use Bart to access other computers, but the other computers cannot access to Bart. I know it's probably something simple I'm missing. All the computers are on the same workgroup as well. I used the Network Setup Wizard to configure the computers, so I think everything is the same. I have also two printers connected as well. One is connected to Bart via USB and the other printer is connected to the hub. Everyone can print to one that is connected to the hub. But of course only Bart can print on those connected to it.

Anyone have ideas of what I'm missing.

    Thanks in advance.

This is almost certainly due to one of two things.

First, a firewall on Bart can block incoming connections.  Bart can contact other computers because outgoing requests and incoming responses are allowed through, but Bart unsolicited inbound connections are rejected.  A couple of tests, you can run the following:
Find the address IP of Bart (assuming it's here on 192.168.1.100)
Bart ping try another machine (start-> Run-> "cmd") and then enter the command:
    ping 192.168.1.100
Try a 'ping NetBT' Bart from another machine (the same above commands prompt window enter the command :)
nbtstat-a 192.168.1.100 (note this must be an uppercase 'A' in '-A')
Both should give you an answer.  See if either get an answer.
If you are using Windows Firewall, go to-> Windows Firewall Control Panel, click the 'Exceptions' tab and check that there is a tick next to "file sharing and printers."  In the 'Général' tab, verify that there is NOT a check next to "do not allow exceptions.  If you have other firewall products on your computer, you are yourself here.

Second, the "Workstation" of Bart service may work OK, but its 'Server' service may not be installed / started.  (The workstation service to Bart communicate with other machines, Server service allows other machines contact Bart).  To check this, bring up the Service window (start-> Run-> "services.msc").  You should see a line marked "Server."  Its status should be "started" and its Startup Type should be "automatic".  Otherwise, as administrator, double-click top and doing it this way.

    Hi John,

Thanks for the post. I understand that you are unable to connect the WD external drive.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this.

To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

    1. you receive an error code or message?

    2. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

3 have you tried to connect the external hard drive on another USB port?

Please follow the methods and mark the question below:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Microsoft Fix It from the link below.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

    Method 2:

Uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers.

You can check after uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers if you are able to connect. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. click System and Maintenance, click System and then click on Device Manager.

Note: If the control panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    c. in the Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.

    d. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

Note: Connect USB devices to the computer once the drivers of conflict are uninstalled, and once the computer is restarted.

If you are still having the same problem then you can check the device USB drivers updated using windows update.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

My Windows Vista laptop only shows itself as visible in the 'file' network and is unable to connect to other computers manually by typing the name (\\computer-name). My Windows 7 and XP workstations can view each other and the Vista laptop except they can't connect to the laptop (network in inaccessible resource).  All 3 are in the same workgroup and I tried to connect without a firewall as well.  The strange thing is when I try to ping other computers from the laptop, the "host is unreachable" if I ping the computer name, but very good pings if I ping to the IP address. If after the ping of the IP address, I ping the hostname again it pings fine. After that Windows 7, the computer icon visible and accessible and the XP machine is manually (but no icon) for a short period of time. After 5-10 minutes or I stop/standby host names can be resolved again and I have to start with ping them.

  • Unable to connect the earpiece/headset Bluetooth

    Original title: Bluetooth device

    Hello

I use a computer windows 7 dell laptop and having succumbed to my last 10 attempts to connect my sony with her bluetooth headset. Also, I went through all the links of responses provided by the site. I also downloaded the software device for her drive. The laptop also shows my SonyBTH under "Devices and Printers". But I'm still not able to connect my SonyBTH even after clicking on the indicated device.

Please kindly help me with this problem.

    Anyone?

    Thank you

    Afonso Rajalim

    Hi Afonso,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you are unable to connect SonyBTH to the Windows 7 machine and I appreciate the efforts made in the patches that you tried. Let me ask you;

    • Have you been able to connect to the same SonyBTH in the past?
    • Remember to no particular change in the computer before the show?
    • What security software is installed on the computer?
    • What is the model number of your Dell computer?

There could be several reasons for this cause and diagnose the problem, we will try these steps and check.

Step 1: Make sure that Windows is configured to accept incoming Bluetooth connections.

You can check the compatible devices Bluetooth configuration panel. Here's how:

    1. Click the Start button, select Control Panel, click hardware and sound, and then click Bluetooth devices.
    2. Click the Options tab, select the allow the devices to connect to this computer check box, and then click OK.

Step 2: Remove and then reinstall the device:

    1. click the Start button, select Control Panel, click hardware and soundand then click Bluetooth devices.

2 Select the device that is not working, and then click Remove.

    3. click on Add, press the reset button on the unit (or make it discoverable following the manufacturer's instructions), check the box my device is set up and ready to be found and then click Next.

    4. If the device is not found, repeat the previous step. When the device is found, select it, and then click Next.

    5. follow the remaining instructions in the wizard.

    · Make sure that the device is on and that the batteries should be replaced.

    · Make sure that the Bluetooth adapter for your computer is attached and turned on, and that the device is in use and detectable. If you don't know how to turn on discoverability, read the instructions provided with the device or check the manufacturer's Web site.

Solving problems with Bluetooth devices compatible (applicable to Windows 7 as well)

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Portege R500: unable to connect the remote DVI monitor via Dynadock

    Hello

I just connected Dynadock (DVI) with my Portege R500. The cell would be supported - according to Toshiba - but my experience confirms that Dynadock is not able to access the DVI ports. This implies, that Dynadock is nothing more than the USB HUB.

My setup: Vista 32 company b (CZE edition), the latest patches, Toshiba R500.

Software: latest dynadock software 2.3 c.

Symptom: I can't connect to the remote DVI monitor via the dynadock, there are only two external panels with 800 x 600, but Vista does not allow me to choose.

More information: software Dynadock requires to run without Microsoft Defender, otherwise it blocks the service: DisplayLinkService; file:C:\Program Files\DisplayLink base Software\DisplayLinkService.exe
If you turn off the MSDef, the "error 2738" message appears when you connect the dynadock and when Vista tries to install a missing drivers for you.

    Hello Leo

As far as I know, Toshiba has not designed for laptops models own only Dynadock and it can be used on every laptop or fixed. Because of this, I think that this statement about model of care is not so important for this problem.

Toshiba provides devices and software. To connect using the USB port, and these ports must each computer or laptop. I hope that you have installed the software by following the on-screen instructions (device of should not be connected to the start-up of the plant).

Is your Portege docked the host or you have connected Dynadock directly in Portege s USB port?
