Unable to connect to a Time Capsule - router Apple´s

I bought a Time Capsule (Apple´s built-in wifi router and hard drive). My Vista laptop can connect to the network, but it can't get internet access or disk access network hard. I have a mix of different devices connected to the router without a problem, only the Vista PC gives me a hard time. The laptop is 18 months, HP with Vista and SP1.

If I leave the network open (without encryption) PC Vista connects very well - both internet and hard drive. I tried to configure the network with different encryption, WPA2, WPA, WEP, etc.. The only thing that works is without encryption, which is obviously not a solution. If I wire the network connection, the Vista computer works also very well, but that no solution for me.

In various Apple forum, this problem is known and discussed, but that no one could come up with a solution, so I hope that a post here can help me, so I can raise my last computer on my network.

Hello

Many Apple and Vista/Win7 routers have this problem. Two things you can try is updating the firmware of the
the router and update your network (NETWORK and WiFi card) drivers on the computer.

Good luck. Rob - bicycle - Mark Twain said it is good.

  • Can I use time capsule from Apple and an external hard drive that is connected to my Mac at the same time to save?

I have an external hard drive (1 TB ADATA HV620) and a time capsule of Apple 2009. So far I have used the external drive-DATA to back up regularly on my Mac, but it uses one of my USB slots. I would like to start using the time capsule from Apple to everything back up, as it does so wireless, but I still want to be able to back up by using the ADATA hard drive occasionally. Is it possible to use two devices to back up or can I use only one device? Thank you.

You can use the two devices, but Time Machine... If that's what you use to back up... can back up only to a disc at a time. So if you set up Time Machine to back up on both discs, it will support drive until one first, then the other after the first drive of the backup is complete.

  • How to set my time capsule from apple for my external hard drive backup?

I installed a Time Capsule from Apple on my network.  It seems to work very well.  I need to use it to back up my external drive (if possible)

    Can someone give me directions?

    Thank you

    Jean S

If you use Time Machine, open the system preferences pane, click Options, and remove the external drive from the exclusion list. It is not possible for all formats of volume.

If you use a different backup product, see its documentation.

  • Connection of Internet Time Capsule airport

Before buying, I asked the store if this would replace my sky router, they said yes. However, all connections are WAN/LAN, and there is no reference to a direct connection to my BT socket (via a broadband filter). Should I still my Sky router).

Unfortunately, the store bad informed you. The Apple base station, including your new Time Capsule do NOT have a built-in modem. You will still need a modem to access the Internet with it... then Yes, you can be forced to keep your sky existing for this hub or get a dedicated modem (no router).

  • Cannot view or connect to the Wifi network of 5 GHz with Time Capsule from Apple 5th generation

I have a new Apple Time Capsule 2 TB with 802.11ac network support. I have setup my base station in order to disseminate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network SSID. I have 2 apple (iPad Mini and Macbook Pro) time devices can see and connect to Terminal 5 GHz network however I have also a Lenovo Vibe P1 phone (dual band wifi supported) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S compressed (dual band wifi supported) and these devices cannot see or connect to the network of 5 GHz of Base Station. I also have a Cisco router that has a dual-band support and all my devices can see and connect to the network of 5 GHz of this router.  So I wonder why I have this problem with time capsule?

I have reset my base twice station and it is a new device purchased last month.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Did you use the SMB compatible names for everything...?

That is to say the alphanumeric short, without spaces and Pure...

for example base station name... TCgen5

    name TCwifi wireless

Have you also used the password corresponding to these requirements... but can be between 8 and 20 characters.

If so, then you must give a different name to 5 GHz and delete the password and test... If it's not yet connect the test manually on channels 36, 44, and 149 for example if you are in the USA...

  • connection 2 TB time capsule to MacBook Pro to migrate files

I just did a clean install of El Capitan on this MacBook Pro 2009. I backed up on my two 2 TB Time Capsule wireless and an external hard drive of 1 TB via Time Machine.

I downloaded all the files that I can use from the external drive but need access to the time Capsule for the remaining files. The reason is that 2 months ago exceeded the 1 TB external drive backup so the following files are now only on the Time Capsule.

My problem connects the time Capsule to the laptop. I placed a to Laptop ethernet cable and and on one of the <->ports on the rear of the time Capsule, but the hard drive is not mounted. It does not appear in my finder.

Is there a way I can access these recent files on drive my Time Capsule around this problem?

    Thank you

The TC appears in Airport utility?

If so you can mount it on your computer.

I would say that you do first of all is a short reset... It's called soft reset... Press the button to reset for 1 sec. The front LED should start orange flashing and you should be able to then mount in the finder.

No chance do a full factory reset. .. No file is all lost it.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

Airport utility, do a minimum install... just if you have a suitable name for the TC and its wireless etc.

Once you complete this tour around your network wireless off in the laptop and use just ethernet.

  • Time Capsule router problems

Recently, my wireless network has had problems.  He became more and more slow.  My devices connect without problems and the signal is full but it takes significantly more time to do something about it.  My iMac doesn't seem to have problems but are my other devices (phone, Tablet, PS3, PS4).  Netflix is essentially very bad because it keeps buffering every 30 seconds and I have to run PS4 upgrades must run all night because they take 8 + hours to download.  I had questions about 5-6 months, which I was able to correct by closing all the way down, 20 minute wait and then turn the modem, the router, and then the computer.  I tried again twice, but he don't seem to have any effect.

My modem is a Motorola Surfboard SB6141.

My router is a time capsule, model A1409.

iMac is a model 27 inch late 2009 10.10.5 running.

The capsule is connected directly to the modem via Ethernet.  All other devices are connected to the wireless network.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Something directly connect to the modem by ethernet. And do a test to see if download and shipping limits are together and working properly.

You must turn off the modem at each change of customer... 5 minutes is probably enough, but this can take up to 15 minutes.

If you have good speed then when you put the back... TC test via ethernet to TB... once again, you should get almost the same download and upload speeds as the test to the direct modem.

Now, test your wireless... you say that the iMac has no problem... so please give us the numbers... It is difficult to work from vague descriptions...

Then, I need to know the connection speeds and all possible information. Run diagnostics on the computer wireless.

You should also do a factory reset full of the TC and reconfigure it as follows.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

And then redo the configuration of the computer with the Mavericks - Yosemite - ElCapo. (MYELCAP)

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the problem is using wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as it also seems to help stop the nonsense. But it can be tried in the second round. IE, plan on a first and second series of changes to fix this... If all goes well... I note other steps can you tour2.

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

    3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC. But it's important for deriving from intellectual property in all directions when MYELCAP do not remember his name for 5 min after a reboot done for poor network management.

    4. check that your share on the computer name does not change... Make sure that it is also in line with the above... short without space and pure alphanumeric... but this change will mess up your TM backup... so be prepared to make a new, full backup. Sorry... keep this one for the second round, if you want to avoid a new backup.

5 attach the TC disc into the computer manually.

In Finder, go, connect to the server in the main menu,

Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever ip of TC is that you made static. It's a default router 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with it unless you know what you're doing).

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

    6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

It is a lot more jiggery pokery, you can try, but the above is a good start... If you still find not reliable... don't be surprised.

You may need to do more work on the computer itself. for example, to reset the NVRAM/PRAM/SMC... helped some people. A clean installation of the operating system is also useful if you update installed.

  • How can I connect my Airport time capsule to the nbn optus

I just got the NBN Optus connected and time capsule doesn't seem to work, can anyone advice on how to connect. I connected to a modem (Sagem Fast 38640op) with cable but the mac does not expect a return to the top

You should do a full factory reset on the TC...

Repeat the installation... and it should work correctly in bridge and create a wireless network.

The Sagemcom really poor wireless but you can leave it on... use it for your network wireless of comments.

This is my normal configuration guide... but there are a few specific pieces to network problems with the operating system later as Yosemite or El Capo.

  • New mac connects to the time capsule but does not see the old backups

My new MacBook Pro connects perfectly to my Time Capsule, but it is not all backups that are there.  I can't scroll through them as I can with my old MacBook Pro.  The MacBook still connect to Time Capsule well and see and scroll through all the backups it.

    No idea why?

I wish that my new mac to be able to go back through the backups as does my current MacBook.

    Thanks for any help.

Since El Capo OS a lot stricter security.

You will generally not be able to simply use a backup Time old Machine as you did in the past.

Backups made by different computers must be used via migration assistant... not just opened in TM.

However, you can always copy a file or folder, you must manually via the Finder... ride the sparsebundle and access... If you have issues copy folder in the form of TM and then paste it in Finder... There are different ways to trick the it.

  • I am unable to connect to the Linksys WRT54G Router with wired connection to Office XP.

My two laptops (XP and a Win7) will be connected to the router wireless and wired (ethernet). When it is plugged directly into the DSL modem, the Office connects and works very well. This problem started when I had to replace the DSL modem.

I inherited this problem for my elderly mother... and it all started because they gave me the router password wrong, who now works (router has been reset) on two laptops, but when connected, the Office doesn't even show a light of connection on the router except during startup. I no longer get a window of logon passwork for the router, and I am unable to connect/ping the router in the office. (192.168.1.1)

I would like to clarify a few things.

    1. two laptops work fine with cable connections and wireless through the WRT54G.

2 desktop PC, which has only a wired connection, does not connect successfully.

    3. the symptoms of the failure of the desktop connection to are that the link on the router at the start light flashes during initialization of the PC but then will Dim.

    4. when the desktop PC trying to connect to the internet, it fails.

5 when the desktop PC try to connect to the administration WRT54g page it fails.

    6. when the desktop computer try PIING the router at 192.168.1.1 IP address it fails.

    These points are correct?

Assuming this is correct, open a command prompt and type

    IPCONFIG/ALL

The output of the command should provide some information about the current state of the network connection.

It would be useful that you posted this here release.

The absence of a link light can be your main symptom and may be due to several reasons. He probably has an associate status "media disconnected" in IPCONFIG for the network connection.

This could be caused by a bad network cable or a network connection disabled in the properties of the network on the PC. Small jets knowing the ot IPCONFIG output is would help more.

Post this info if you can.

    Good luck
