• 64-bit Alternative to Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth MIDI generator?

  I am trying to find an alternative to the MIDI synthesizer driver built-in to Windows 7 64 - bit - namely the MS GS Wavetable Synth.

  I have a card Creative X - Fi (64-bit drivers of course), but for my misfortune, I discovered that the MIDI synthesizer nice Creative supports 32 bit systems only.

  I do a lot of work with MIDI files and am extremely disappointed with the Microsoft synthesizer - sounds that the instruments have not been updated since Win 3.11, which is probably true. I'll try to find an alternative better sound quality that is compatible with a 64-bit operating system, but hours of research have resulted in nothing useful.

  Does anyone have recommendations?

  I don't know if you still need help (your post is very old) but I'm having the same problem with my SB X - FI HD card. I looked up and I looked down and, unfortunately, I don't think that there is no solution to this. What I do is I use this card for my music, games, movies, etc, but for lunch, I have an old Pentium III computer with a soundcard ISA SoundBlaster AWE64gold. It is a much older card and is not too good with games and media, but he made a synthesizer better than the SB X - FI HD. You can buy this card on ebay like $7.00 is really cheap. I know it does not really help at all, but it is a very good synth, and I highly recommend you try!

  Hi, how can I disable the microsoft gs wavetable synthesizer? I want to use my keyboard with fl studio 10 and final 2011. Whenever I turn on each programs that the diolog appears saying "Error external undefined" Im pretty sure that this is the synth that isn't Anick that no midi data through. But the midi device its recognized by my laptop. Im running on windows 7 home edition 64 bit and a HP laptop. Help, please. I have no idea what to do;

  In FL Studio and final, you'll need to use what is called a soft-synth and play your midi keyboard entry in the output of the soft-synth.

  I don't have either of these programs, I use Sonar, but I imagine that the process is very similar.
  Go to the Options Audio / Midi of these two softwares, make that your keyboard is enabled and recognized as default midi input in W7 (via the mixer)
  Opens on two software and go to the Midi Options. Select your keyboard as input device and also deselect GS Wavetable if in the list.
  Open a project and insert a soft-synth (GTR on operation lunch in case of doubt). This should open a midi and audio. Again select your keyboard as the entry in the midi track and your soft synth out of.
  In the audio track, select the midi track (or omnidirectional) as input and your audio output device. In the case of any doubt then RTM.
  S theabove how base in any DAW to use a keyboard, via a soft-synth, passing the GS Wavetable aweful...
  Once you have done so for a software, you will have to do for each other. I strongly advise you to save the entire upward as a model, if possible, so you will not have to start the implementation of rigmarole.

  I have several on my portable midi playback software, some work well ie ABC Explorer and Quicktime Player. Others it is Sibelius, ABCNavigator2 seems to work, but no sound. Is this a problem with the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth, there are few options to select and change and I think I did all that without result. If no work-around is y at - it another set of card drivers available on the web for free midi sound. Tony Montepino

  Hope you read this, I downloaded a product called Anvil Studio a freebie that handles midi files and files of music in general. Subsequently, all midi players worked perfectly well with the Gulf war, I suppose that a file has been corrupted and replaced by the anvil Studio.

  I used Anvil Studio on big and maybe the bricks of a computer laptop and never had any problems with GW. An offbeat program that fills gaps others leave behind.

• HOW DO DISABLE YOU MS GS WAVETABLE SYNTH IN WINDOWS XP PRO

  It seems that nobody in the web universe knows the answer to this question, but if someone DOES not know how to disable MS GS Wavetable Synth in Windows XP (NOT 7 or Vista), please do not hesitate to share.  Problem is that you cannot use ASIO4ALL while MS GS Wavetable Synth is activated or the rest of the default value.  You cannot change or disable clicking on through the sound icon on the screen, or through Control Panel of configuration/sounds, or by turning off the speakers in the BIOS.  I read a suggestion that a new sound card may be the answer, but I seriously doubt that could solve the problem, because the way the problem is inherent and exclusive to no hardware and Microsoft's software.   Someone at - it the answer?

  Uh, you're confused here. The GS Wavetable is a terrible software with an alarming problem of latency to read Midi, audio files not. It belongs to all windows, no only XP so you can't get rid of it. You simply do not use it as a default device, but only if you have other software installed Midi playback.

  Asio4All is a 'wrapper' that emulates the concept of Asio for audio files and is NOT used for playback of Midi files.

  As you do not specify which audio device or software (to play your Midi files) that you use, it's difficult to go further.

  However, if you buy a Sound Blaster, for example, it comes with its own Midi drivers that once installed can be selected as default instead of GS Wavetable Midi device (and you will get the best latency as well!)

  If you buy one map for use with a DAW professional sound, then it will also have its own midi drivers and also the DAW will have its own soft synths to play Midi files.

  I'm learning to play piano using a keyboard controller Midi Edirol PCR - 300 connected to my PC via a USB cable and produce sounds using the MS GS Wavetable synth. However, the delay between pushing a button on the keyboard and the sound being heard inside is so long that it is absolutely impossible to use as it is.

  1. Is it possible to decrease the latency?
  2. If not, is there a way to replace with something that is useful, and in this case wavetable synthesizer WHAT?

  As it is, using the keyboard cannot be called 'play' but rather 'musical programming.

  The Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth is a software synthesizer, it adds about 1/10 of a second delay between the time it receives a MIDI note and the time, that the note can be heard through the audio output. This can create problems of synchronization with audio tracks and other MIDI tracks sent to hardware MIDI synths. If your sound card has a hardware MIDI synth, it should be preferred to the Microsoft MIDI synth.

  The desired MIDI outputs can be selected in the dialog box file/settings/preferences/MIDI/MIDI devices. The default is Midi mapper, which corresponds to the MIDI output device selected in the Start Menu/control panel configuration/sounds and audio/Audio device as the default device for 'MIDI-music playback.

  You are supposed to try it in "Safe Mode with network"; not 'Safe Mode'.

  You need a cable connection; no wireless using this method.

  This is caused by the Service MSDTC (Distributed transaction coordinator) is configured to run under the local system account. It must run under the account NTAuthority\NetworkService instead.

  To resolve this issue, try the following steps.

  Note: Before you perform these steps, please take a backup of the registry. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/back-up-the-registry (Steps mentioned in the link can be used for Windows 8 institutions)

  -Press Windows key and press R to open the run prompt and type Regedit.exe , and then on enter to open the registry editor.
  -Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSDTC.
  -Right-click on TurnOffRpcSecurity and select Edit. Add the value 1.
  -In the prompt to run, type Services.msc and look for Distributed Transaction Coordinator. Right-click on it and select stop
  -Right-click on the Service and then select Properties. Click the log.
  -Restore the log on the NT Authority\NetworkService account
  -Just type NT Authority\NetworkService
  -the password is empty.

  I recently bought a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and, so far, have had no problems. I use Steam chat to speak to my friends while playing PC games. My cat of steam in my Turtle Beach headphones without problem, however, his game will play only through my speakers. I guess the problem is that my helmet is not defined as audio device by default.   I use a HP Pavilion dv6103nr Entertainment Notebook (Window XP).  Audio device was working before, but a few months ago the audio started does not (no sound cannot be played).

  I then right click on each of these drivers and tried to update the two drivers (I've tried insert the recovery disk (it is the only drive that I got when I bought this laptop) and also I tried to install the software automatically, but these two options did not work.)

  Please tell what should I do now?  Already, I went to the HP site and looked for these two materials for a update but had no luck...
