Very well. Now open the sgfile.vmdk with an editor (e.g. vi on the service console or just cat) and see if it reflects the settings of the sgfile - flat hard.

  • Unable to power off a computer virtual cloned in ESXi 5.0

    Dear friends,

IM new to ESXi 5.0, but have used vmware player before that.

Just today I installed ESXi 5.0 and uploaded (using the vSphere client) my existing Win2k8 VM from my Windows desktop. vSphere client is really a nice, easy to use interface.

After you add this virtual inventory machine, when I tried to turn on the virtual machine, I got following error:

    Power DevicePowerOn module has failed.
Unable to create the virtual SCSI device for scsi0:0, "/vmfs/volumes/4fcdd933-d49bf04d-d23d-6805ca06e545/WinServer2k8-R2-x64/Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.vmdk"
Could not open scsi0:0 disc: disc not supported or not valid type 7.  Ensure that the disk has been imported.

According to " " http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/VMware/A_8669-VMware-vSphere-5-error-unsupported-or-invalid-disk-type-7-ensure-that-the-disk-has-been-imported.html ', I changed the vmdk in zeroedthick vmdk using vmfstools. »

    vmkfstools-i "Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.vmdk" zeroedthick temp.vmdk d

This has created 2 files: temp.vmdk and flat hard-temp.

    I did 'mv < original_file.vmdk > oldfile.vmdk' and ' mv temp - flat hard < original_file.vmdk > '.

When I tried to start the virtual machine, I got another error:

Reason: The specified file is not a virtual disk.
Could not open the disc '/vmfs/volumes/4fcdd933-d49bf04d-d23d-6805ca06e545/WinServer2k8-R2-x64/Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

    What is Flash the drive?

How to create these discs or how I can convert them to the required format?

Yes you need to convert the vmplayer vm in the format of esxi 5.0 and move it to the desired location and turn on

So I change all the bridges of you to every host ESX, we have to point to the new access point, and now I can connect to the virtual machines for 3 guests, the 4th host always has the same problem although I change the door of entry, but still cannot connect to all virtual machines on it. If I Vmotion all VM in this host to another host, I can connect to the vm console, I have also to restart these services

  • Turn on the computer virtual fails - "could not power on VM: not found".

    Hi guys and girls,

I'm running a server relatively low with ESXi 4.0.0 running a SBS 2008 Standard VM as well as a couple of XP machines virtual for line inherited from enterprise applications.

Today, one of the disks in RAID-6 went offline and was replaced, after verifying the integrity of the RAID and the ESXi server restart seems to load normally, and could be connected to via vSphere.

I noticed that the SBS comments had not begun where was the XP guest.

I tried to manually start the virtual machine and received the following 95% error message:

«Could not power on VM: not found.» Unable to power on the virtual machine.

Failure is classified in Server events:

"Cannot be lit on localhost in ha-data center." "A general error has occurred:

Alas, I'm new on ESXi and most of the aid is managed by my hardware vendor which is currently unavailable.

I tried to remove the virtual machine from the inventory and re-enrollment without success.

All files appear intact on the data store.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    Tom

I try to create a new virtual machine and configure it to use the existing hard since your SBS server disks.  Maybe the .vmx has been corrupted?  The file vmware.log in the directory that the virtual machine is could give more information on what is not found.  Use the data store browser to download the file to your w/s.

    Hi Phil.Ganchev,

Using a laptop or a desktop computer?

The reason for this question is, if you have a plugged AC adapter you must set power accordingly as opposed to laptop settings battery operated.

I suggest you head over to the power settings and create your own power management.

    a. power by clicking on the Start button, open the Options click on the Control Panel, clicking system and security, and then clicking Power Options.

    (b) according to the plan you want to change, click on change plan settings.

    c. on the parameters of change in the plan page, choose "Put the computer to sleep" that you want to use when your computer is running on battery (if applicable) and when it is plugged.
(Change in 5 minutes for the batteries and sector)

I just bought a new desktop computer Compac Persario.  I plugged it in to a surge protector and night I stopped him.  Last night, I stopped it as usual, and when I got up this morning, it lights up.  The power switch on the computer does nothing.  Nothing lights up and there is no sound from the cooling fan in the back.  All other plugged into the surge protector works, including speakers and the monitor.  If I unplug the power cord and plug back in and press the power button it turns immediately. I get a bad cord?  I had several HP computers and never had this problem.

    and so on...

On end-user behavior, is that they get a black screen, followed by a gap. View Connection Manager console reports as "connected". We have to reset their virtual machine or restart from vSphere in order to get them reconnected. We found a VMware KB here which indicated that it was a result of the computer, put the display to sleep (in power politics), so we put in place a group policy to configure this 'never' (said also the problem was resolved after view 5.0, while we are running 5.2). Issue still occurred. Recently, Teradici support (we have a case open with them as well as with VMware) suggested that disable us the accelerator of Shoretel desktop sharing, so we tried it. Problem occurred again today.

So, no matter who in the community never encountered this and could you remedy this? Our users are extremely frustrated.

We believe that we have solved this problem. It was related to client connections on the zero P25 and who monitor they were trendy. So if a user has his left monitor the value primary (as per normal), but the port number a display on the zero client goes to the right screen, then the 'primary' switching must occur in the software somewhere along the way. This leads to the poster of overlapping and sometimes, not every time the VM would fail to fix and would be left in a State where we had to reset it from the vSphere client. As we exchanged the range of cables to make sure that zero client a monitor port is connected to the main screen of users, this issue appeared (two weeks and counting, fingers...). We have a few users who prefer the right monitor being their main, so we put the cables in front of them.

  • Unable to connect to the computer because the password is not be accepted.

    Hello

So yesterday, I decided to put a password on my pc (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit), but when I turned on my pc today, he immediately said that I have to enter a user name and a password first.

But I did have the chance to fill in anything but it was weird.

Anyway, I pressed OK and it sent me to the login screen.

All of a sudden there is 2 users, instead of one, but none of them was my account.

They both had no name or avatar so they were square just empty, and they're all two protected by Word.

My password does not work on both accounts, so I can not connect. I tried to get with Safe Mode, but even then he asked me a password!

I have a few projects out there that need to be finished and send it within 2 weeks so I really need these files.

I don't mind if I have to format my whole hard drive, but is it possible to go beyond the login screen?

Or just a way at least to get some files?

    All advice is appreciated!

    -Martin

    Hello

If you put a password on it, it is normal that next time you start it will ask for this password.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

To use system restore to log on Windows 7 or Windows Vista when you lose access to an account, follow these steps.

Note To do this, there must be a restore point from the system in which the connection was successful.

    1. Insert the Windows Vista or Windows 7 DVD, and restart the computer.
    2. When you receive the following message appears, press a key:
Press any key to start from the CD or DVD.
    3. Set the following preferences and then click Next:
      • To install language
      • Time and currency formats
      • Keyboard or input method
    4. Click repair your computerand select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    5. Click System Restore, and then click Next.
    6. Click on the food that you want to use, and then click Next.

Note Click a restore point that will return the computer to a State where the connection is successful. After you use the system restore feature, reinstall all programs or updates that can be removed. You won't lose any personal documents. However, you may have to reinstall programs. You may also need to reset some personal settings.

    7. Confirm the disks that you want to restore, and then click Next.
    8. Click Finish, and then click Yes when you are prompted.
    9. When the system restore process is complete, click restart to restart the computer.
    10. Once the computer restarts, click close to confirm that the system restore process has finished successfully.
    11. Use an appropriate method to open a session. For example, log in using an older password, or log in using another computer account.
    12. etc.

    To reinstall the operating system:

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: HP Officejet Pro 6830 - unable to connect to the computer

    Hello

I just replaced my Officejet6500 with an Offiejet 6830

I have lived throughout the configuration stage until the software looked for the printer and it cannot be found. the printer is confirmed as connected to the same network as the computer's wireless so I don't know why it is not to be discovered

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you very much

    Mike

    Hey @mfbar,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that printer e-all-in-one Officejet 6830 and your Mac OS x 10.10 machine are not communicating. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    Turn the printer off.

While the printer is turned off, remove the power cord at the back of the router for a minute.

When the lights come back on the router, turn on the printer.

Now on the printer, click on the wireless icon that looks like a radio tower.

    • If the IP address starts with 169.254, the printer is not getting a valid IP address. Contact your internet provider or one that provided you with the router for assistance in ensuring the router assigns IP addresses.
    • If the IP address starts with 172, the printer is connected to a network of comments. Contact your internet provider or one that provided you with the router for assistance with deactivation of the feedback network.
    • If the IP address begins with 192.168, the printer is properly connected to the network. Please see below.
    • If the IP address begins with any other number, the network is maintained. Contact your computer or the one who manages the assistance network.

Once the above is done, if the Mac is still not able to detect the printer then the next step is to contact your internet provider or the one who provided the router. When you do, ask them to:

    • Open all ports.
    • Select multicast.
    • Disable MAC filtering/MAC cloning.
    • Make sure that the router has a band of 2.4 GHz (gigahertz).

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to connect to your printer, click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • Keep the power to the USB port after stopping down?

I would use one of the USB ports to plug in my cell phone to load from one day to the next off the computer. What are the steps to follow to set computer to keep providing power via USB ports after shutting down the computer?  I'm a novice so need to know where to find the place that controls the settings and what to click on. Thank you!

If you put the computer in Standby Mode when you stop, the USB ports are not powered off.

  • Re:... VMware_VCloud_API_OVF_OperatingSystemSection_Type - change the OS of the computer virtual

I saw no clear examples in the documentation on how to:

    (1) to retrieve the list of available operating systems available to vCloud

    (2) to change the operating system of the virtual computer.

    My biggest concern is #1.  I think I might be able to understand #2 by retrieving the current values of the object type then do $sdkVM-> modifyOperatingSystemSettings ($type);

The idea is to use a basic vAppTemplate, but then set the BONES of the original VM after an instantiation of vApp.

Just a note: the output of GET-/vApp/ {identifier} schema / operatingSystemSection in the REST documentation is completely broken.

    Hi skalrynd,

Currently, today, there is not a way to query the list of guestOSes supported by using the vCloud API. This information is directly available in the vCloud DB, which can be queried, if you have access to the DB.
