  As John said, the VARCHAR2 '9 ' (or any string '9') is longer than the string of 50', for the same reason that the string 'Z' is longer than the string "THE".

  What do we mean when we say this string x is greater than string y?  We mean that

  1. The 1 x chraracter comes after the 1st character of y (in sort order), or, if these characters are equal
  2. x has a 2nd character, but is not, or, if both are more than 1 character
  3. The substring SUBSTR (x, 2) > SUBSTR (y, 2)

  What (if any) strings mean is not serious, so

  • '9' is greater than '50',
  • 'zero' is greater than 'a '.
  • 'small' is greater than 'big '.
  • 'MIN' is greater than 'MAX '.
  • 'yesterday' is greater than 'tomorrow', and
  • "1 January 1900' is superior to" December 31, 2015 ".

  According to rule 1 Correction: rule 3 is the reason why 'MIN' is greater than 'MAX '; the others are all due to rule 1

  I turned on my computer this morning and all of a sudden all _ broke loose. Everytime I try and open an exe file I get a security alert box Windows telling me that:

  "Unable to open these files. Your Internet security settings prevented one or more current files opening. »

  I read through every thread I can find on the subject, and none of the "answers" worked for me.

  I tried the common next 'solutions' with no luck:

  (1) right click on the exe, click Properties
  Click the Unlock button
  Click OK

  (2) adding exe to the control panel > Windows Defender > Tools > Options > excluded file types

  (3) start / Control Panel / Internet Options.
  (Displays control panel Internet Options)
  Click the security"" tab.
  Click "Local Intranet".
  Drag the slider to "Low".
  Click the 'Sites '.
  Click on the button "Advanced".
  Enter the IP address of the NAS / SMB / CIFS / some server and click "add".
  Click "close".

  (4) delete the registry key - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{EF87B4CB-F2CE-4785-8658-4CA6C63E38C6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

  (5) create a profile admin completely. -This one was interesting, when I logged on the account there was no aero theme - he went immediately to the essential.

  I had not mentioned in my HKCU registry entry. I solved the problem by resetting all my settings IE. If something in Internet Explorer is the cause.  In fact, which fixed the problem for every user profile on the machine.

  This error seems to be a very old mistake of Java associated with Vista.  I don't know why you should get it now with Windows 7.

  Start by going here to ensure that you have the latest version of Java and have removed all previous versions--> http://java.com/en/download/installed8.jsp

  If this does not help, remove all versions of Java--> http://java.com/en/download/faq/remove_olderversions.xml

  Restart the computer and then download and install the latest version.

  I need to understand what this command does, it was on a router that I just picked up and I am familiar with this part of the order.

What is mail users can go out and reach their destination.  However, any scanned mail does not work and I'm trying to understand why.  The scanner has an internal ip address, which is 192.168.5.25, the 192.168.5.201 is a mail server that was running and this command seems to be allow e-mail from the mail server (. 201) to send mail to another location through VPN tunnel to our other offices. What I'm trying to understand is the order indicating that the mail de.201 can go to the 192.168.7 network via the 203.161.81.22 port road 25.  If this is true who will stop mail from other devices out via 203.161.81.22 on port 25

  IP nat inside source static tcp 192.168.5.201 mail_192.168.7 25 203.161.81.22 25-extensible route map

  --> and here you are mapping the IP 192.168.5.201 with port 25 (SMTP) that go outside with the IP 203.161.81.22 with port 25 (SMTP) and get a match with the road map

  I have a windows 7 installed on my PC, I have installed a virtual machine and install oracle 11g on this machine. I have a database named orcl on this and I am trying to connect to the database with my windows machine. I assigned ip appropriate to both computer and created under the setting mentioned in my tnsnames.ora file. But when I go to connect it shows error ORA-12203: TNS: unable to connect to the destination. Please guide me where I am doing wrong so I'll do it properly.

  Thank you all for your help. I solved this problem by mentioning the HOST in listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files. In fact, I have to assign the static IP address of my Linux machine and unfortunately not to mention the IP address in my two files. It is show HOST = localhost this is why it is forbidden to connect with the other machine. Now I connected successfully and it works fine now.

• New Macbook pro with new Lightroom 5 CC will not import pictures.  Can't read.  Lightroom on the phone people are unable to understand.

  I could not import new images into Lightroom 5 on a brand new Macbook Pro.  Lightroom 4 works fine, but the new Creative Cloud Lightroom 5 says that the images are unreadable.  The folks at Adobe have yet to be able to understand by phone and I find myself waiting for too long.  The images will be important in IPhoto so no problem. All are of the FIRST.

  You must check in the Finder using get info (command-I). Make sure that the destination you set in Lightroom has permission to write to you. Also check that the destination is really in the right place and not trying to write to a folder root on your main hard drive or something like double.

• Understanding of RMAN command file

  Hi, please can someone put me right as I am confused with RMAN concept. (using 11.2, AIX, no catalogue)

  Backup database more newspapers to archive and my DB is saved. I also have autobackup controlfile on. Ive done many restorations of test in this way when the data files are missing or needs to get back to a point in time.

  As a test, I renamed all my files from control and then did a restore. I then restore the control file which I am starting from the automatic backup location. However if there is no autobackup then what? Where can I get my control record of?

  Of the "backup database" command not actually backup control files? I always thought that a backup has been incomplete if the control files were not backup up.

  Please can someone clarify this?

  That's what I do all my backups: don't configure CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON, and I always explicitly backup backups of database/archivelogs after controlfile (BACKUP CURRENT CONTROLFILE): in this way, I always know what controlfile to restore.

  DATABASE BACKUP command includes the backup controlfile anyway, but I prefer my name so that I can immediately identify the backup controlfile.
