  It's just a totally different problem: TWAIN The drivers are 32-bit then IrfanView and other 64-bit software. I have re-installed Irfanview as 32 bit and it now shows TWAIN drivers.

  You can verify the installation by going to the following location

  C:\Windows - if you scroll down you will see the twain_32 folder. If this folder is missing, then you cannot scan with the HP software and also sounds of it your banks. Just check its there. In general will be created or updated during the installation.

  I suggest that you check the windows update history, because none existed 15 security updates (assuming the automatic update is enabled and that you have received the previous updates)

  I suspect that the windows update settings are configured to be installed "recommended updates" which, among other things, would drivers - a bad move

  Fixed mine. There is no drivers Windows 8 available on the Canon's Internet site or Windows Update. Follow these steps to install a scanner CanoScan 8400F under Windows 8 x 64 in desktop mode:

  (1) download and install the drivers Windows 7 x 64 on the Canon site.

  (2) launch Manager devices, right click and uninstall any unknown device (?), then scan again for new hardware and drivers Windows 7 x 64 installs automatically.

  (3) download and install the Canoscan Toolbox software from the Canon site.

  (4) run the Canoscan Toolbox software, select settings and click on the reset button to fix the non-working electronic copy, scan, PDF, mail scanner buttons.

  (5) reset.

  The button is restored after the restart. Everything works as expected today. Good luck!
