Understand the evolution of TLS in Firefox 37

Can someone tell me a document that explains clearly what changes have been made in Firefox 37 regarding the TLS? The only thing I can find in the release notes is "disabled unsecured TLS version relief for the security of the site. I find the reference to a Bugzilla, but there are pages of discussion and no clear statement of what has changed. Many web sites have reported that TLS 1.0 has been disabled by default and we found one of our web sites don't supports TLS 1.0 has been affected, but another one that supports only TLS 1.0 works fine. Thus, it would be useful to find a position authoritative that illuminates so we can solve the problems with Firefox and our applications. Otherwise, the only direction is to use IE. 8 -)

  • How can I determine the configuration of TLS/SSL in Firefox ver 38?

I received the following message (partially shown) when I tried to connect to a particular Web site.

    The secure connection failed
An error occurred during a connection to xxxxxx.xxx. Cannot communicate securely with counterpart: no common encryption algorithm. (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap).
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

I tried the MS IE browser and had a similar view. I checked the security settings on IE, added TLS 1.1 and 1.2 of TLS selections and solved my problem on the Internet Explorer browser.

So I wanted to check the settings for TLS/SSL on Firefox but couldn't find where they were selected. I thought that they used to be under Tools/Options. Where can I go to check them?

You can post a link to a page accessible to the public (i.e. no authentication or signature required)?

The site may attempt to return to a lower version of TLS in a way that is no longer allowed in current versions or maybe use a deprecated suite of encryption.

You can open the topic: config page through the address bar and use the search bar to locate this pref:

    • Security.TLS.insecure_fallback_hosts

You can double-click the line to edit the prefs and add the complete field to the value of this preference.
If there are already websites (domains) in this list, then add a comma and the new domain (without space).
There should be only areas separated by a comma in the column value (example.com,www.example.com).

If this help you can contact this Web site and ask them to look into this and update their security.

  • Since the evolution of firefox today, the Refresh button is not at the top of the page. How can I get that back?

I thought that the Refresh button was a Windows icon, then why has it disappeared from my page since the evolution of Firefox?

Firefox 4 and later versions use a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is placed at the right end of the address bar.

During the process of loading page it shows as a stop button and once the charging button is replaced by a reload button.

If you type in the address bar this button would then become a button go.

Click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab in a new tab.

  • I do not understand the answers when I ask "how to change a password for a website" in the Options of Firefox tab.

The answers that your Web site provided no did me not nothing good. I use a master password to Firefox. Now Firefox don't ask me if I want that it to remember a certain password that I entered for a Web site. In the 'Options' tab, I said Firefox I won't be followed; that I don't want to remember history; and not to accept third-party cookies. What I do in 'Options' to make Firefox remember a new password (I changed a password recently). I'd appreciate a real answer, rather than a link to 'answers already posted.

I use Firefox 33.1. Windows XP - Service Pack 3.

    Thank you.

Do you mean you've changed your story here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

for "conservation rules: don't remember history '?

This causes always start in a Firefox's private browsing session. According to aid article "names of users and passwords are not saved:

If you use the Firefox private browsing feature, no password is automatically filled for your window private browsing or permanent private browsing mode, and no new password will be saved.

So I hope this helps to connect the dots.

If you prefer to continue using automatic private browsing, you may need to use an add-on to manage your passwords instead of the built-in Firefox password manager.

Or if you want to adjust to another Firefox settings so that they are in the closest to private browsing, we can suggest how to do that instead.

  • I am new to this. I do not understand what is meant by making Firefox my "default browser". I use gmail, and I have to open a session, each time I want to use the mail?

I don't even know if there is an interaction between Firefox and gmail. I know it's a pain every time that I want to use the mail, I have to open a session. I didn't connect with Internet Explorer. My goal here is to take advantage of Firefox are reached do not SPAM etc. Where and how can I set up Firefox as my default browser, and what are the other benefits? Keep it simple, guys, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

The "default browser" is that Windows uses to open links from other applications or the desktop shortcuts. If a browser is designated as the default does not affect the operation of pages web in the browser.

Sites recognized generally that you are still connected by setting a cookie. When you install Firefox, it is configured to receive and fix these cookies. However, there are many ways for the cookies to be deleted, including:

    • Settings on the Privacy tab of the Options dialog box such as whether you want to accept cookies and how long they stay - privacy, and-not-track browsing history settings
    • Option erasure of history to the judgment (even if the function is called history of compensation, there are a few 10 or more categories of data, you can choose individually delete or keep)
    • Using the incognito feature - cookies last only as long as the camera
    • The modules focus on the protection of personal information that change the way are managed cookies - your system data does not display of these
    • External security, privacy or system cleanup software

In your case, your "more details of the system" shows that you have set Firefox automatically start in private browsing mode. In this configuration, Firefox does not keep cookies between sessions, as long as the sites Web is concerned, the next time you visit you are a foreigner. It could invoke is if you or someone else with access to your computer went in the Privacy Options and value Firefox "never remember history".

You should probably disable automatic private browsing, unless you can find an add-on to store cookies that you want to store between private sessions.

  • Turning to black screen after the value time/RAM used FireFox

    Hello

My question is for the graphics. It lasts for several months now and he came to a point where it starts eating away at me.

I installed recently (within 6 months) 16 GB of RAM and a new extra GPU. I upgraded to an ATI Radeon HD 5750 to a Gigabyte Radeon R9 x 270. I never had this problem with my 5750 card, so that initially led me to believe it was a card problem, until I discovered that my problem seems to be ONLY with FireFox.

Now to the question: arriving to 2.8 GB + of memory used (according to Task Manager), FireFox flashes for a brief moment and to scroll the screen or between tabs, becomes completely black, forcing me to re - load the browser. Now the first question of the use of FireFox, so initially, amount of RAM is crazy, and I tried to lower the settings by disabling extensions, all sorts of things and the fulfillment of the only thing that is extend the time before flash made his boring appearance.

The screen flashes problem seems to be quite something else. I tried to upgrade to the latest version of FireFox, run a new installation of FireFox, update my graphic drivers their latest versions, just about everything I can think of, and nothing seems to fix. What seems to be the problem here? I would be very happy all feedback and better understand how I can solve this problem outside hard using a different web browser.

    Hardware specifications:
    Motherboard ASUS P6X58D
    Intel Core i7 930 @2. 8 GHz processor
22 GB of total RAM (3 branches of 2 and 2 strips of 8)
    Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 x GPU
Brand/model unknown 850W of power (honestly, I'm just too lazy to remove the top of my tower which is packed in a locked drawer to figure out the make and model at display time)

Running FireFox in safe mode seems to have solved or at least slow the excessive RAM issue however FireFox has now terrible performance much earlier. Adding constantly freezes and scripts constantly crashing, it would seem that addons and extensions that I ran helped to solve these issues.

What I do now is to reload firefox standard and turn my extensions one by one to see which seems to be the cause of most of the points in the use of the ram.

AdBlock Plus seems to so far be keep stable FireFox without problem. Going to turn in my next toolbar. Will edit this post more information after having observed the behavior of FireFox.

Edit: The reason to believe it's my toolbar like with AdBlock plus, FireFox was still around or less 1 GB to use physical RAM. After the reactivation of my toolbar, I jumped up to 2 GB. Contact the developer of the toolbar soon.

  • Untrusted connection is missing section "I understand the risks".

Run Firefox 33.1.1 on Windows 7, try to access https://code.google.com. I get the page "this connection is untrusted", (specifically sec_error_unknown_issuer), but there is no section "I understand the risks" to allow me to add an exception. Other posts have suggested trying to 'forget this page', who has not solved the problem, or "Ce Frame: Open image in New Tab", which does not appear on right-click in this case. I also tried to go in 'View Page Info' but there was nothing out there for me to add the certificate either.

Open the chrome URI by pasting or typing this URI in the address bar to open the window "Add the Security Exception" and to check the certificate:

    • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.XUL

In the field location type and paste the URL of the Web site

    • retrieve the certificate via the button 'Get certificate '.
    • inspect the certificate via the "view..." button. »
  • I have no toolbar at the top of my new firefox. How to do it? In addition, I have no sound.

    Firefox has been recently reinstalled

What follows is related to your lack of sound in Firefox.

First of all, you are using an outdated version of Firefox and your question may have been corrected in the latest version of Firefox. Older versions of Firefox may have problems of functionality or security, therefore, we do not recommend running outdated versions.

Secondly, please try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

  • "I understand the risks" missing option - page is read from cache

trying to access the Web site, I am facing a security warning because the certificate is self-signed.
This is an internal site, which is currently the subject of tests - so it's ok to add an exception.
the question is, the option to select "I understand the risks" is totally absent, the only available action is "get me out of here"

Since it is an internal site under our control, I did a few tests more:
It seems that firefox redirects the initial http request to https
This does not happen on other browsers (chrome and IE), also tested in a clean install of firefox running without the extensions.

even after completely cleaning the cache and temporary files, question remains.
This site (over http) does not load on firefox, always redirected to https

even after deleting the server mod_ssl apache and by eliminating completely any mention of the ssl on that server, connection with firefox always redirects http to https (now results in the error "Unable to connect to Server" - but still not to load the basic site http version)

I forgot the screenshot of SQLite Manager.

  • I do understand the benefit of "Options" tab utilities and want to remove it. How, please?

I do understand the benefit of "Options" tab utilities and want to remove it. How, please? I tried this feature because the tab 'Fox' was no longer available with the 5.0 update.

I loved tab 'Fox '. A click and go on a site added you to 'top sites' before. The update 5.0, this feature is no longer available. It was a disappointment. There is a similar feature "add on" that is, as tab 'Fox' compatible with 5.0. If yes I would like to know about it. Or better yet... make it usable with Firefox 5.0 ' Fox' tab if upgrades cancel features previously downloaded that work really... What's the point?

Please click the button solved it next to the answer that solved your problem of Firefox support, it appears when you are connected, so this thread is marked as resolved to help other users who may have this same problem.

I tried to install the 64-bit version of Firefox and it seemed just overlay the 32-bit version. Is my 64-bit version now or still the 32? I don't know how to say or how to put in the 64 bit one if it did not work.

You have posted here with the 64-bit version of Firefox 43.

After the closure of 3 text boxes released firefox indicating is 93%, at risk and needs to be reinstalled with the correction code. The Web site noted was strange and seems not related to Mozilla. I chose not to run his link. There is a vulnerability in need of closure?

No, it's not Mozilla or the Firefox web bowser. Scammers use the popularity of Firefox and try to mislead the less experienced users of Firefox and or Windows to download an .exe to infect Windows.

Updates of Firefox on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux are are in the browser Firefox itself or download on https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all

Mozilla does not .exe patches or do they host updates on randomly selected sites outside of *. Mozilla.org

  • Bring back the old options windows in Firefox

Upgrading Lee 42.0 was removed for the difficulty I have applied (setting the "browser.preferences.inContent" preference) to continue to allow the Options appear in a window pop up, rather than in the flat browser window. It's really annoying and difficult to use, the context menu was much easier to use and have floating "above" the browser window.

The "browser.preferences.inContent" preference setting is no longer seems to work. Please tell me if there is a way to solve this problem, because I am in and out of the options a fair bit and it really is a pain to use now.

    Thank you.

Hi marcoporcellini, firefox doesn't bring back the old interface options - browser.preferences.inContent preference was just in place temporarily for a period of transition. now that there are new features and settings, go to preferences and was former windowed interface is more maintained, its users would have missed out on them, so the support fell completely in firefox 42.

If you still miss the old style - the Restorer Classic theme https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ addon contains some improvements to make the more familiar the style options...
