Uninstalling HP protect Tools Security Manager
I don't think that anyone from MS really knows how to uninstall HP protect tools. All post are just all over the place. The question is simple how to uninstall HP security protect the tools from a Windows 7 computer. HP support is no help I'm beginning to think that I'll never be able to upgrade to Win 10. Last HP computer I never buy, for many of the unwanted software installed at the factory which is almost impossible to uninstall. If someone really knows how to get this junk on my computer please help. Can you be blessed forever
Hi Hoady,
Please check with the ch if there is no registry associated with the location in the registry:
- Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard.
- Type Regedit into the run window
- Go to this site : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HP and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HP
Reference: How to manually remove programs from the Add/Remove Programs list
If this isn't the case, please try to clean install Windows 10 as suggested by Greg Carmack.
Let us know if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.

Password entered with the fingerprints - HP protect tool/Password Manager
Hi all!
I use HP protect tools and Password Manager and password authentication Windows and fingerprint authentication. I have problems with fingerprint authentication.
When I try to enter the password automatically with the activation of the footprint of the password is not entered. The password is entered if I click on the Password Manager icon select fill in the data of logon and authentication with my Windows password. It never came with my fingerprint authentication (even if I get a green check mark on the icon so nect I drag my fingerprints).
I am administrator on my PC and have registered three fingers, I am trying to use for authentication. I'm really confused why Windows authentication, it works well, but the fingerprints does not have the password. I find no more errors that suggest the registration of fingerprints does not work.
I already used the password on another HP Manager but I never had this problem. The password has been entered always automatically when I spent my finger.
I use an EliteBook 8460p with Windows 7.
Looking forward to your help!
Kind regards

How can I remove HP protect Tools Security Center so that I can install Windows 7?
I was told to uninstall protect Tools Center via Add/Remove programs... However, it won't let you uninstall this program... iIran control of windows 7 before I bought it and my computer has been updated... I also have a message saying to uninstall the ATI graphics card catalyst... I could do... usually I have to reinstall after that I upgraded. I also tried to contact HP to get answers. Please answer. Thank you!
Try to use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall:
It will scan the registry and file system for all the remaining parts of the installation. You can find RevoUninstaller.com (freeware) Revo Uninstaller.
You should be able to get drivers updated for your videocard ATI http://www.hp.com or http://www.amd.com
Releasing it's easy: with Windows | ActiveWin | Laptops | Microsoft MVP

Removal/Uninstall HP ProtectTools Security Manager
Greetings!
I try to install the Windows 10 Technical Preview this afternoon on my laptop Windows 7 HP and I am being asked by Microsoft Windows, while trying to install the Technical Preview, to eliminate completely all HPPTSM applications.
Now, my problem is that I can't find how to uninstall them. If you could provide these instructions which would be most apprecitaed.
Kind regards
-ShwayGreetings to all who may see this. I found a way to remove HP protection tools and Manager. Here's how I did it...
(1) - went to the page drivers HP for my model and downloaded all of the software tools listed protection. By running these applications, we gave me the prompt to 'fix' / 'Delete' of course, I chose delete.
(2) a question arose where one of the installers did not give this promot and the software on my laptop was obsolete and the applications listed on the site of drivers were more recent than my software. In these cases, I've updated the software via HP SoftPaq (I'm not install versions side by side, SoftPaq will update the current version on your computer for you) and here is updated once the applications have been listed in Add/Remove programs.
----NOTE FOR HP: UPDATING YOUR DRIVERS DOWNLOAD PAGE! I NEED UPDATE OF HPPTSM v8. THIS WOULD HAPPEN SO I COULD UPDATE MY WE CompuTrace REQUEST HE moved v7 (and so IT WOULD SHOW UP IN THE ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS)
---
Hope this helps the next person!
Kind regards

I came across your post on the HP protect Tools Manager and wanted to help!
For starters, can you provide me with the product number of the laptop? Here is a link that you can use that will help you find your model and product number:
How can I find my model number or product number?
From my understanding, that the software is used similar to security software. So, for this purpose, if the software is running, the laptop is not able to upgrade to Windows 10. You can try to reinstall the software later. If you are not satisfied with the upgrade of Windows 10, you can use back to a previous generation option, in your control panel:
HP Notebook PC - upgrade to Windows 10
This operation takes back you to your original operating system. Remember that this option is available only for 28 days after the installation of Windows 10.

Thanks for your help/suggestions.
I tried the same thing and it worked, I disabled all services start in the msconfig and restarted, but I got the same error, then the next I went through all running services and disabled all that I thought was unnecessary and has tried to install and installed without error. Then I enabled return all services in msconfig and restarted my computer and the hp protect the safety of the tool Manager works as expected.

How to remove HP protect tools to anti-theft
I'm moving from Win7 to win 10 on my 8560w.
The preparation of Windows 10 utility says that I must remove HP Protectools.
But remove HP Protectools fails because first I remove "HP theft recovery software".
I know what actially LowJackPro (\Program Files x86\Hewlett Packard HP recovery).
But I can't understand how to remove it: there is no uninstall program in the folder of "Recovery" and
the "recovery" program does not appear in the list of control panel of programs that can be deleted.Thank you for any pointer!
I reinstalled the patch Anti Theft (computer record) and was abot to remove protection tools properly. Do not know why the 1st time I took it out, there were still some "stuff" left behind.

Problem updating Windows on Hp EliteBook 8560w - HP ProtectTools Security Manager 8.1
When I ' try to update Windows 8 Preview of Windows 8.1 on a laptop HP EliteBook 8560w, I ' am getting this error message: "before upgrade you to Windows 8.1 Preview, uninstall these apps: HP ProtectTools Security manager, HP WebCam.
Hp ProtectTools 8.0.2.1341 Security Manager is installed with the password manager and Credential Manager.
Someone had this problem and fixed it yet?
Thank ' s!
Hello!
Thanks for posting in the HP support forum!8.1 Microsoft Windows (although very good and big update ) is still in BETA (testing) phase and is not officially supported.
Windows has features upgrade analysis and that it has detected that HP ProtectTools are not (yet) compatible with the new operating system (new update) - still in test.
Note that this OS is still in beta and may contain bugs. In addition, he brings a few changes that any other 3rd party suppliers must take into account and it will take a while until the program is compatible.
I recommend - if you want to test the new operating system, install fresh on another computer to test (processing Edition), not a production machine. Otherwise, for your laptops of business - use only the final versions of the software (such as Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8).
Let me know if I can help you further!

HP Client Security Manager 8.3.1.1714
Requested HP to update for HP customer Security Manager 8.3, the program has been installed. Since then, there no password more in the password manager. And the Password Manager icon only shows more in internet explore.
I mainly work with IDS of fingerprints.
Is it possible to recover the passwords? Or how to make the icon appears again, so I can rebuild the database for various Web sites, I need to log in?
Problem is solved. Uninstalled HP security Manager 8.3.1.1714 and all software. Reinstalled version 8.1 an everything worked OK. Even passwords, fingerprints,... are always present and active. So I continue with version 8.1.
Version 8.3 is compatible with 8.1?
