  • Password entered with the fingerprints - HP protect tool/Password Manager

    Hi all!

I use HP protect tools and Password Manager and password authentication Windows and fingerprint authentication. I have problems with fingerprint authentication.

When I try to enter the password automatically with the activation of the footprint of the password is not entered. The password is entered if I click on the Password Manager icon select fill in the data of logon and authentication with my Windows password. It never came with my fingerprint authentication (even if I get a green check mark on the icon so nect I drag my fingerprints).

I am administrator on my PC and have registered three fingers, I am trying to use for authentication. I'm really confused why Windows authentication, it works well, but the fingerprints does not have the password. I find no more errors that suggest the registration of fingerprints does not work.

I already used the password on another HP Manager but I never had this problem. The password has been entered always automatically when I spent my finger.

I use an EliteBook 8460p with Windows 7.

The reader at this point is basically a paper weight. With that you disabled, if you can not start in it at all, you won't be able to unlock. As you might be able to format it. Anyway, all that is on the disk is lost.

    Hello @ARCHICLAY,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to draw your attention to the HP Forums Guide first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I came across your post on the HP protect Tools Manager and wanted to help!

For starters, can you provide me with the product number of the laptop?  Here is a link that you can use that will help you find your model and product number:

How can I find my model number or product number?

From my understanding, that the software is used similar to security software.  So, for this purpose, if the software is running, the laptop is not able to upgrade to Windows 10.  You can try to reinstall the software later.  If you are not satisfied with the upgrade of Windows 10, you can use back to a previous generation option, in your control panel:

HP Notebook PC - upgrade to Windows 10

This operation takes back you to your original operating system.  Remember that this option is available only for 28 days after the installation of Windows 10.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution' , this will help others easily find the information they seek.  In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!

  • HP 4530 s, Win7 64 bit, Hp protect tools does not not on any browser except Internet Explorer

Protect the HP tools (login finger Print) is not compatible with anyone except internet explore (I.E.)? Why is it not an update for Firefox, Chrome, or one of them? Please release an update or something, it seems that hp he forgets the user after the release of the software.

to my knowledge, product software has limitation to integrate the addin for IE only, and some functions may work in firefox. subsequent products have the ability to use HP protect tools capable of many browsers - maybe not all.

  • How can I remove HP protect Tools Security Center so that I can install Windows 7?

I was told to uninstall protect Tools Center via Add/Remove programs... However, it won't let you uninstall this program... iIran control of windows 7 before I bought it and my computer has been updated... I also have a message saying to uninstall the ATI graphics card catalyst... I could do... usually I have to reinstall after that I upgraded.  I also tried to contact HP to get answers.  Please answer.  Thank you!

Try to use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall:

It will scan the registry and file system for all the remaining parts of the installation.  You can find RevoUninstaller.com (freeware) Revo Uninstaller.

You should be able to get drivers updated for your videocard ATI http://www.hp.com or http://www.amd.com

Releasing it's easy: with Windows | ActiveWin | Laptops | Microsoft MVP

The question is simple how to uninstall HP security protect the tools from a Windows 7 computer. HP support is no help I'm beginning to think that I'll never be able to upgrade to Win 10. Last HP computer I never buy, for many of the unwanted software installed at the factory which is almost impossible to uninstall. Hi Hoady,

Please check with the ch if there is no registry associated with the location in the registry:

    1. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard.
    2. Type Regedit into the run window
    3. Go to this site : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HP and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HP

  • 4730 proBook s switchable graphics problem

Hello all and sorry for my English not very good, but I hope you understand

I have a laptop HP ProBook 4730 s with graphics switchable. I can't the CCC to run, so im stuck on intel HD graphics. I had the same problems with CCC, but I always managed to solve (reinstall the drivers/windows etc.), but not now.

I did the things so far:

-Fully formatted: C partition on my HARD drive and installed new windows 7 on

-Remove all drivers with driver Sweeper, AMD uninstaller, repaired and cleaned with CCleaner registry

    -Updated the newer BIOS

    -Beta drivers installed for ATI

-Tried to disable the INTEL graphics card in Device Manager, disable switchable graphics in the BIOS

Sometimes, the CCC doesn't even start (it's in the Manager of tasks under process), sometimes to give me error CCC, CLI or MOM. If I disable switchable graphics in the bios, I find myself in VGA (odd resolution) mode, if I disable ATI or INTEL in Device Manager, I also find myself with weird resolution...

    My computer specs are:

    Intel i5 (2.4 gHz) processor

    700 GB HARD drive

    4 GB of RAM

Intel HD graphics and AMD Radeon HD 6490 M 1 GB

    Windows 7 enterprise (64-bit)

  • 4730 proBook s: what version of the BIOS allows the activation of virtualization technologies?

I use Oracle VirtualBox with 7 VM Linux on my ProBook 4730 of s (OS is Windows 7 64 bit). Somewhere around the BIOS update F.20 my machines virtual Linux no longer works, because of virtualization technology has not been enabled in the BIOS. I tried to enable it in the BIOS settings, but he refused to be activated. So I followed the instructions to return to the correct known copy last BIOS on the recovery partition, and yet I could not enable Virtualization Technology in the older BIOS revision.

Then I went the drivers and software from the HP Web site section for my ProBook and downloaded the revision of BIOS Feb 2011 (apparently the earliest possible review of BIOS for my laptop model) and then flashed my BIOS with this revision. And virtualization technology setting STILL refused to activate it.

I've seen in this thread in HP forums:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/HP-ProBook-4730s-BIOS-cannot-enable-virt...

anyone else with the model of my laptop had the same problem and the same symptoms: VMs worked up to a point in time and at that time there the Virt. Technology implementation option in the BIOS could not be reactivated.

    So my two questions are:

Any available for this model of laptop BIOS revision allows the activation of the option of setting of virtualization technology?

    and,

In the event of a revision, which one is it and can provide you a link where I can find a downloadable copy of it?

    LTW

OK, after you call the tech support of HP, I found the answer to my version of this problem. When I tried to activate the virtualization technology in the BIOS, I was logging in BIOS using my account in the BIOS. At least for me (and probably for others too, since it is advice from HP support gave me) it was bad. You must log in with the account Guest User of the BIOS BIOS, and when you do, a lot of parameters of the BIOS, including virtualization technology, can be turned on/off. So my problem is solved.
