Unknown program/process

On my laptop HP with Windows 7, there is a program (qhr.exe) running continuously and according to resource monitor, it is still using 95-100 percent of the CPU resources.  I can "end of process" and it doesn't seem to do anything except the CPU fan calms down.  It starts again with the next restart.  Anyone know what this is or does and what program I need to do with it?

Just had the same problem. I found that the program was in my race in the startup list. The executable was onder my home directory of the user, as well as an other exe with a strange name (zy *). I deleted the two files, starting with ccleaner, deleted them and I hope that it is now resolved.

What is its role: he was using my facebook account to send nasty messages and questionable links to the people, he should be warned!

If I can't stop a device USB due to some unknown program running (like a virus), how can I find the program, so that I can stop it with the Task Manager?

    Hello

The message (this device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again) is usually the result of an application, file, open the document, audio or video, or any other application is being used (ranging from the USB key) when you try to remove it by clicking Remove the device safely in the notification area.

The error can also be caused if your anti-virus is actively followed / analyze the USB drive. Normally, where the withdrawal of a USB flash drive, Windows must stop all operations of reading / writing on the disk so that it can be removed safely. If this is not the case, the flash player may be damaged or lost or corrupted data. However, if Windows determines that a file is in use, it can then provide a message that indicates the volume cannot be stopped now.

So, before to eject or unplug a mass storage device, make sure that none of these activities are performed on the mass storage device before ejecting.

    A cut-off device

Most USB devices can be removed and unplugged. When the fact of unplugging storage devices, such as USB flash drives, make sure that the computer has finished saving all the information on the device before removing it. If the device has an activity light, wait a few seconds after the light has finished flashing before unplugging.

If you see the icon remove the device safely in the tray on the side right of the bar tasks, you can use it as an indication that devices have finished all operations in progress and are ready to be removed. Click the icon and you will see a list of devices. Click the device you want to remove. Windows will display a notification to tell you that it is safe to remove the device.

I also suggest you make a system full scan just to be sure.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Hello

    1. you made any hardware or software comes to the computer before the show?

    2. when exactly did you receive the warning message?

A common use of the Desktop.ini file is to assign a custom icon or a thumbnail image in a folder. You can also use Desktop.ini to create a ToolTip that displays information about the file and controls certain aspects of the behavior of the file, for example by specifying the names localized for the folder or the items in the folder.

Method 1: Start your computer in a clean boot and check if you still receive the same warning message. Consult the following link for the boot.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

Method 2: I also suggest you to run a full scan of the system on the computer by using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if the computer is infected with the virus.

You can download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner from the following link.

  • Cancel the file association for extension .lnk to origin of the "unknown program" settings

I got interrupted and changed the file on the extension .lnk association to my browser.  Now, all shortcuts open with the browser.
I need to restore this file associated with the unknown program.

I tried running system restore, but it fails for reasons unknown, but probably because of a call to a .lnk (?) file

No details on editing the registry to correct this errow would be appreciated.  Thank you.

The answer to my own question, but for those of you are having problems with file associations in Windows 7, which does not propose a deletion or to remove the feature, see this link:

  • Unknown program on the taskbar

I have an unknown program in my taskbar programs titled "Frog Update Checker files".  Some sites say it's good, another said it should be deleted because it is malware.  What should I do?

I would like to delete it. It is a program "kind of" play, but it attracts malware. After that you remove, download the free version of this tool. First check the updates and then run a full scan.

  • Unknown program running when I stop

When I want to close my pc it always tells me there is another (unknown to me) program left running, and I want to force a shutdown? What is the cause and should I worry?

    Moved from feedback forum

    Original title: program unknown

    Hello

What version of Windows are you using?

I would recommend that you look at programs that can run in the Notification (next to the clock in the taskbar) area for a program or a utility that can be active. These are usually programs that start at startup and run until the computer is turned off.

Quit all programs in this area and test to see if this solves the problem.

If this does not help, right-click the taskbar, and then select the Task Manager from the menu.

Click on the Application tab to see if all programs are active. If you find, right-click on the program and select end process in the menu.

    Tell us what you find.

  • To monitor a program/process running using launchd

    Hello

I wrote a simple bash script to check if a program (supplied as single argument) is running and send an email to an address defined in the script, if it isn't. The script works if run on the command line, but I can't for the life of me operate under launchd as user agent (~/Library/LaunchAgents) when I try to set it to run every minute. The latest incarnation of the relevant .plist file (monitors Dropbox):

I also tried to have everything under < ProgramArguments > without a bit of luck as well. I always use this syntax:

  • Unknown program at startup file

I was recently infected with UKASH through a malicious email (yes I foolishly opened it!), despite the KIS2014 updated. I am currently using Vista 32-bit, which is up-to-date with all security patches. It took me 2 days to get the operation of computer. When checking, I found the bbegzjl.lnk of following file supposed to be by Microsoft in msconfig startup. I also received a message when you connect looking for file ljzgebb.exe. I checked on the Microsoft and the www site, and there is no announcement about these "records". I turned off bbegzjl at startup and it does not affect the computer running. The bbegzjl apeasr through the rundll32.exe file path. Malwarebytes, KIS2014, CCcleaner do not have this identified as malicious. No one knows what are these files?

    Hello

Google has little information on these files, so that they remain probably entered start of Malware that has been removed from your security programs.

Like Malwarebytes, etc don't have them picked up, remove the boot is what you can do.

  • Icon of the unknown program on the desktop, flickering screen problem

    Original title: Elitebook 8570p

When I log in, I get an icon on deskton with a hand and a line on a loading angle. What is and what is it called so I can uninstall it. I did a fresh install and was downloading allot of things that I don't use.

Also what the h3ll is viewspan. That guard is inviting. What, do I need?

Also, my screen started flickering, what I have not downloaded. Was well before I did the new facility. I have not downloaded all the stuff there, because I don't know what I need. Got the basics.

More I have connection manager, hp not connected, do I need this?

Is a link to HP update? I got it in vista.

Has been downloaded stuff at random here.

    drivers

You said "Got this from Microsoft on the Elitebook 8570p download link drivers...". »

It is not no matter what MS link for the drivers of HP, unless you mean that you used the windows update and installed recommended updates, that would have included drivers.

And if you had installed with the HP recovery discs then all drivers and software HP would have been installed in the process.

After you have installed you then make the mistake to use windows update to install the two Important updates & recommended, which would have included drivers

The list of the MS are different drivers HP

But as said before you do not need to install all the drivers if you have used the original for your specific PC HP recovery media
