  • How to unlock a folder protected password in 64-bit Windows 7

    Hello

I set up a password protected folder and now I see a small lock in the folder icon and I don't know how to unlock... Help, please

Something is not here.  As Shawn & Bruce also said, there is no function "Encrypt contents to secure data" in Windows 7.

Are you sure that you do not see the content or you, as Shawn suggested, get confused by the lock on the file symbol?  Maybe you put the files you expect in subfolders and are actually see everything that you are supposed to in the current folder.

A lock symbol does not mean you are locked, it means [once again, as Shawn said] that the file belongs to someone.  If you are the only user so that would mean you in a folder that you created.

It's just a shot in the water but that enable the display of hidden files-files in case that's the problem is.  ALT - t, folder options, view - the setting is about a third of the way down.  You can reset this later.

Please can clarify you what you did & whether or not you can see the folder / subfolder content if one of us can help you?  You better also would confirm where this folder is and whether other users have been put up on this computer.

[When this problem is solved, look up 'User account control' in the help system window - this is what controls multiple users on a computer and also affects one user.]

  • How to backup to a folder password protected, located on another computer on the network?

    Hello

My OS is Windows 7 Professional. I have configured windows backup back up some of my files on a network share on a daily basis. There are people other than me who have administrator privileges on the computer on the network where my backup is stored. My problem is to password protect the share network folder as windows backup on it my computer can be done automatically. The computer where the backup is stored is a machine to windows server 2008.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Run the task as a backup operator, add yourself as a member of the backup operators group.  You can do this with the console "Users and groups", to open the console type lusrmgr.msc in the box run from the start menu.

    Hello

Acrobat Reader for iOS is not an eBook reader.  It does not support eBooks or PDF documents protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management).

You try Adobe Digital Editions to read the eBook?

Unfortunately, Adobe Digital Editions is available only for a Mac/Windows computer or iPad (not iPhone).

  • Need password protection

I want to put a password on my laptop while traveling. How to lock my computer while traveling? Can you please send a link or give me very clear and simple 'HOW TO' instructions?  I use my admin code? Will I need a new password? What are the settings I will implement? Wil I change screen saver time and sleep to "never"?  I usually close my cover when I leave the room to let rest the computer - it's just at home and it's just me and her husband in the House - HOWEVER, I am concerned with coming summer travel. Thank you.

  • Password protect an external hard drive connected to Time Capsule

I have a WD passport external hard drive connected to my time capsule, so my wife and I can easily share files. I have the external hard drive connected through the locked time capsules WiFi network so someone in the House can not access however if they walked the time capsule and not plugged in the external hard drive they could walk away with it. When I try to password protect external hard drive then time capsule may not recognise, and so I can't use it as an external hard drive that is shared. No one knows how, to password protect the external hard drive connected to the time capsule as if someone physically stole the external hard drive it would be locked, but have yet still recognizable by Time Capsule when I plugged?

    Hope that makes sense.

The only way to do is to encrypt the files on the computer.

And you both use the same password. Unfortunately, this probably means that you can not share files directly... The TC is not a SIN... never, it was designed for this purpose so there no controls to help admin file sharing.

If you create a DMG file on WD drive that encrypt you and you can copy files to and from... but only one at a time.

Another method would be to use a specific software... Watch chronosync.

    http://www.econtechnologies.com/Chronosync/guide-sync-with-disk-image.html

I don't him have not run in this configuration... so, you have to experiment if it manages what you want.

I think that there will always be limitations on concurrent access from multiple computers.

  • Palm Desktop password protection

Although I no longer use my handheld device Palm (Treo 755 p) I use the desktop app from Palm on my computers, mainly because I like the software allows for the protection of specific password of any given note, contact, or another entry.  When I recently added software for my new Surface 2 Pro 8.1 Windows running, it seems to work correctly.  However, when I tried configured for password protect the program, it shows that a password is not assigned and notes that I have to put a password in the device.   The device has a password, but I can't connect to the Surface either via USB or Bluetooth.   Apparently, the two are incompatible.  However, the kicker is that on my tablet running Windows 7, the password that I use to enter the desktop application is NOT the same as that defined for the device.   I don't remember how I put this on the Windows 7 computer, but I guess I had connect both devices.   Please help if you know of a way for me to use my password on the Surface without connecting to the Palm, or if you know how I can connect the Palm to the Surface Pro.    FYI, when I use bluetooth to try to connect to the Surface and the Palm, a password is generated for the Bluetooth connection and as soon as I get it, I indicate that it is connected to the Palm.  However, after about 5 seconds, it shows no connection.  The same result occurs whenever this is attempted.

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Not sure about the problem of password.  There are several users in the program?  Could you be redirected to another by mistake?

Most likely the Surface runs a 64-bit version of Win8, correct?

You should see the message sticky at the top of this section on the 64-bit drivers USB for Palm Desktop.  This can allow you to Hotsync via a USB cable.

This is the first post I've seen on the synchronization to a tablet of Surface!  Please keep us informed as to the outcome.

  • a router monitor can display of my purchases in a site like eBay password protected?

a router monitor can display of my purchases in a site like eBay password protected? If not, what exactly can a router monitor (on another computer), discovered on my wireless laptop? Thanks in advance for any help with this issue!

    Hello

    1. which version of the Windows operating system is installed on the computer?

    2. What is the exact application you're talking about?

Router monitor is a tool that allows you to control the router that you are connected to and see the other IP connected as well as other important details.  He usually don't know the details on a Web page he's been watching just the traffic lights. However, some routers have the ability to connect what websites is visited and how much time is spent and how much bandwidth has been used.

Therefore, you can also contact the manufacturer of the software for more details on the subject.
