Unrecoverable DV7 after BSOD

Hello

I have a HP DV7 that has been running Windows 7 quite happily until recently. I lived a BSOD in IE have no other recent problems. There has been no recent hardware or software changes.

When I reboot, I get the selection screen of recovery windows error offering me a normal windows startup or HP recovery console. No matter what option I choose, it starts in the HP Recovery Manager.

All my arebacked of files to the cloud, but my emaiooand contacts are not, and I really want to get back them. The problem is when I try to run a file back before reimage, I get an error "HP Recovery Manager failed. Error code = FFFFFF03. Check the drive of the Windows partition does not work either.

Can I get a command line window which shows me in the X drive (I guess that the recovery partition) and a D: drive which contains a virtual 38 GB hard drive file with the name of my PC. I Kow it comes a drive virtual hsrd but I don't know what it is. My C: drive is inaccessible from the command-line ("volume does not contain a recognized file system"

I encrypted my entire physical volume with Truecrypt and I'm invited to my master password immediately after POST.

All the help and ideas gratefully received!

John

As I thought, the start option (by pressing ESC just after the POST) is before the bootloader of Truecrypt. So while I have boot from the disc without no problem, none of the volumes were legible and so there was no OS to the difficulty!

Subsequently corrected this by running the Truecrypt rescue disk and decryption of the entire hard disk (it takes FOREVER - I had to run mine during the night).

Once it is, the system provided by HP kicks and fixed everything that has been prevents the system from starting.

I think I'll copy the files I need and do complete a new picture to a clean build of Win 7. And this time, I could not encrypt the entire hard drive with Truecrypt as which obviously compromised the system recovery.

Thanks again for the help.

John

Well 15 minutes ago, I worked very well with my laptop computer and all of a sudden, I get the bsod... ?

    How is that even possible...

There are two possible reasons why BSODS happen.

    (1) serious software problem
    (2) hardware problem / fault

In the case of point 1) system recovery / laptop should solve this problem. But it doesn't have t

You want to know what part might not work.
Well, I think that these details can be provided only by an engineer who has already checked the aircraft and ran some diagnostic software.

In my opinion its HARD drive problem isn't. If something's HARD drive, unit turns on properly but would not boot the system.
Possible hardware parts that could be affected are: module of RAM or the motherboard.

RAM problems can be solved easily in replacement of the module, but for motherboard problems, the fix for laptop can be very expensive in case the warranty isn't valid.

A few weeks ago, I got the BSOD and could only reformat without saving. After a data recovery service ravaged my hard drive, I bought a new drive. My recovery disk is not found (my guess is the woman she pitched in one of his fits of cleaning). Of course, I have to re - install the operating system and bought Win10 home.

    Hello:

Make sure that you dΘmarrez from a USB 2 port.

You will not be able to install Windows from a port USB3.

If you have the W10 installation media in a USB 2 port, windows can you are looking for the sata controller driver, so see if it works...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second listed file - 1 file listed (64-bit).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/25165/Intel-rapid-storage-technology-Intel-RST-RAID-driver

Extract (copy) the files on a USB FlashDrive without all records.

With the flash player and the installation media W10 plugged into the machine, boot from the W10 installation media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and I hope, W10 will install.

  • Windows 7 unrecoverable system after installation of ArcGIS - KB973688 and KB954430 errors

    Hello!

I am running Windows 7 ultimate x 32 and windows update will not install two updates after installing ArcGIS 9.2:
-Update for MSXML Core services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688)
-Update for MSXML Core services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430)

I tried several times with retry and installation manual several times with and without boot and startup (disabled UAC; admin install...). No question.

    I get to kb973688 errors:
-Error code 643 (try it with windows update)
-HRESULT: 0x800736FD (installation manual try, it stops at 2/3 progress bar, saying "Publishing product information").

    WindowsUpdate.log said several times:
    -WARNING: Failed to evaluate installed rule, updateID is {...}
    -WARNING: Failed to evaluate installed rule, updateID is {...}

Between the parentheses, there are different channels such as D8BD0CF7-C4A8-48A8-9B1F-E791CE07F934.

I tried to uninstall the updates with Add/Remove windows components, but no components are presented.

CrapCleaner (ccleaner) tool shows, however, that there is a system restore point at a time where KB973688 was supposed to be installed.

Finally, I tried the system restore to a couple of restore points, but restoration said that he cannot restore (!).

So my last try: clean install from Windows 7, Windows XP Mode, installed ArcGIS 9.2 v. in Win XP Mode and I was back again smooth and clean.

My question is: how is it possible that any application can corrupt and Win 7 so much! We hope enough that I got the chance to start, but if not, how can I recover my system and I want to say my system restore points and my options to add or remove system components?

    Have a happy new year!

  • BSOD on install of Windows 7 after hard drive crash

I have a HP Dv7 with Intel i7 and 8 GB memory. About 3 years.

Recently, I lost my hard drive to a physical failure. I bought a 120 GB SSD as the principal and a 1 TB drive 7200 RPM as the secondary to be replaced. I ordered the HP restore kit to reinstall Windows 7, but each installation stops at "loading drivers" step and gives me a BSOD. I tried to remove the SSD drive and using only the hard drive, but the same results. Also tried to do a clean install of Windows 7 with an ISO image to a bootable USB key. The same problem. I also tried swapping the primary/secondary locations for readers.

Nothing I have tried seems to work. I'm desperate for a solution! Why would I get a BSOD on a reinstallation of the software factory?

I am trying install Windows 7 without SP1 to see if that works, but have no chance. What else can I try? What I have to install Windows 8 to work with the new hard drive or SSD? »

I tried to restore 4 times (3 hours + per attempt). I tried the clean install of Windows 7 SP1 at least 10 times, each of them do not reach the exact spot. Windows won't INSTALL, so that steps can be taken?

As I posted earlier, I had problems with installing Windows 7 on my laptop HP Pavilion Dv7 after replacing a hard drive defective. I ordered the kit of training materials ($60) and the operating system of restoration kit (essentially Windows 7 and drivers) on a 4 disc set. I paid the extra money for all accelerated for me.

After you have installed a 120 GB SSD and the new 1 TB drive 7200 RPM, I tried to install the operating system using the DVD restore I ordered. Each installation took about 4 hours and each of the 3 times (i.e. 12 hours!) installation has failed at the end of the installation process. Then I downloaded a clean version of Windows 7 ISO and burned a bootable USB an attempt installs another 15, which also failed at the end of the installation process.

In desperation, I contacted HP support and was informed that I had to pay for technical support. I must say that I was really disappointed by HP and HP «each incident» support I spent $59 and 3 hours talk with some idiots in the new Delhli, who accompanied me through a few tests of BIOS of base no matter what 3-year-old could have understood, I sent them a picture of the BSOD and error code, and they arrived at their 'solution' to send me my laptop to HP for them to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system for the pittance of $200 and 7 to 9 days!

I refused their generous offer to relieve myself of the burden of $ 200 in my wallet and took the laptop to Fry when I bought it. After 15 minutes of discussion about my question, the tech told me that I needed to install the Intel drivers during the installation of Windows 7. He popped a USB key containing the Intel drivers, I've needed, continued with the installation of Windows 7, and I was back at home with a working machine within the hour. It cost me $35. A BARGAIN, given that HP, the company that BUILT my laptop was completely distraught about this problem and the only solution was to deprive me of my laptop for 9 days and during this time, charge me $200.

So to all who read this, please pay NOT for the HP "per incident" support. They are slightly educated idiots who know no more about the HP product than your typical 3 yr old child. For example, they suggested that the HP laptop in my possession was "very sensitive" and I wouldn't be able to put 'any hard disk that was not exactly to the same specification as that was in it from the factory'.  Idiots.

I you need to re - install Windows 7 on your laptop, visit the Intel website and download "floppy" (i.e. not the executable versions which self install) versions of their drivers for your laptop, load on a USB stick and when begins the installation of Windows 7 where it asks if you want to load the drivers, select the drivers on your USB key and installation will be smooth.

Again, how is it possible that HP and their support forums are not aware of the problem or the solution? Seriously. This is probably the last HP I buy. Just exhausting and annoying to deal with this.

  • 3270nr HP Envy, random BSOD

I bought it a few months ago the beginning of the year, it worked great, was able to leave it on for a few days with no problems at all, but this week he started getting random BSOD, I did a test of stress with the CPU, was 100% usage for 20 minutes or so, do not go beyond 80 degrees (Celsius) and has not either the BSOD at first I thought it was steam associated, but this morning I left it on just to charge my phone with nothing open and he got a BSOD I think, because it shows the same image sometimes watch after BSOD, saying: there is no OS installed, I did not format after purchase, or made changes on the hardware all I use is a USB mouse. The attachment is the image which shows sometimes after the BSOD, but other times he just asking if I want to start Windows normally, with the network, or safe mode. It works very well after that I have press and hold the power button to force it to stop and restart. At the hope of solving this problem here before trying to exchange it for another or something.

See Page 39. It can take any 2.5 inch wide 9mm thick laptop SATA hard drive. They are the industry standard, interchangeable.

Here's one that I would recommend:

There are 3 different causes, but according to me, there is an underlying problem.  Please run the Driver Verifier to find which driver he is

These accidents were related to the corruption of memory (probably caused by a driver).

Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You don't need to run memtest again unless the auditor is not the cause, or you want to.

If you are overclocking anything reset by default before running these tests.
