Unsuccessful boot on Equium A60

My laptop Equium A60 decided yesterday that it won't start. It evokes the safe mode, mode of networking, security with command prompt, last known config success, start windows in safe mode normally options. what either I choose, it goes to the OS (windows XP home ed) logo and then it brings up a blue screen with this:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry file failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
/ SystemRoot/System32/Config/SECURITY

Then it will reboot and just go in the same process.

I was not able to find any help on this point, only errors ending with 'software', while mine ends with 'security '.

STOP: c0000218 {Registry file failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
/ Folder SystemRoot/System32/Config/SOFTWARE

for example: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_repair_a_stop.htm

I don't want to try it because of the slight difference in the error.

I have read and it says you need to your XP drive. Well, I'm afraid that my laptop never came with one. As far as I know, I have the 5 disk that came with it. and not one of them is a XP disc.

In any case sorry for drifting... but its all a big problem.

Hello

As far as I know the laptop was delivered with a Toshiba restore CD.
You should get this CD. Check again if you have a Toshiba restore CD.

The best way to fix this strange is to recover the laptop.
But if you do not have this CD it is possible to order the Toshiba service partner in your country.
It is not very expensive.

    Hey guys & gals
for the first time using this site and need some advice!

    I have a toshiba laptop

Ive had problems with my start up! I get an error message saying: I have a missing driver!

    read the MSG error-"system32\drivers\ntfs.sys".

    Also get message...

If anyone can give some advice please, it drives me crazy! Laughing out loud

    Alan.

    Heyho,

looks like you're in big trouble. I think the only chance to backup your files is to get some linux live CD (knoppix, ubuntu and mandrake) and an external hard drive to copy the files to your hard drive internal to external hard drive attached.

The best way would be to ask a technician or a guy who is VERY familiar with computers to backup your data.

After that you need to reinstall your operating system but without the recovery CD, you are out of luck. Then you don't have a lot of options.
One of these options is to look for startup disk or how to call it: "restore CD". If it is not available you should contact an authorized local dealer servicepartner toshiba and get a new recovery disk. The last option is to buy a Windows XP or to ask someone (family, friends, the one who) for a Windows XP to install.

  • Equium A60 BIOS update: what is the Boot Mode?

Due to problems with my graphics ATI I have to do a BIOS update. To do my computer (Equium A60 PSA67E) apparently needs to be in mode 'start-up', NOT 'repeat mode '. In a previously sent forum somebody said the computer just "should be turned off" but I'm still not sure of how go to this mode. Is it just a case to go to the start menu, click on shut down the computer and turn off the computer again? But how do you know when it is in mode 'start '?
Question: How do in boot mode? (I tried the update in 'safe' mode and it does not work)

    Hello

Boot mode is meaning stop the laptop (BONE).
It is important that the laptop is not in stand mode or hibernation mode.
You just simply close the unit. That s all ;)

  • My Equium A60 not startup after Windows update

    Hello.
I have an Equium A60 (PSA67E) about 1 years. There has been many problems with this one recently. First, there was the problem of overheating. The machine would heat up and stops by itself without any warning. I tried many options by keeping the cooling ports clear but dint help not at all.

I've recently updated my bios version 1.90 such suggested by Toshiba. I always see overheating so far after the bios update.

The most annoying is the display driver which is in this case a lack of mobility radeon ATI 7000. This would cause the display to become oversized and the resolution is very low. It would go without saying when I restart the machine.

Last month, I reformatted the machine using the Toshiba Recovery CD. Everything went well until I am passed on the automatic update of windows. The first update coming, and I install and reboot the machine to let it function. He's fine. Comes the second update is installed and I have proceed to restart to allow functional upgrades, it does not start. The machine keeps starting over and over again without loading the OS. The screen is the typical Toshiba boot screen with the yellow light (charger) on the screen and after some time a blue screen is delivered for a short time (I am unable to read this error message it is said) and the machine starts start again. What can be the problem?

I need to install windows XP SP2, and for this I need to go through the Windows Update. What can be the remedy and on the update of the available display driver. I tried, but it makes the situation worse.
I used the recovery CD at least 20 times that there is no alternative. I tried to start in safe mode but din't work.

    Hi, Germain,.

According to your description of the problem it doesn't seem to be anything wrong with what you have done so far, but I just want to clarify a few points.

    1. After installing the recovery CD system you install/activate your anti-virus software?

    2. are you using Windows Update in automatic mode or you manually select the update process?

I recommend you to turn off automatic error (Advanced tab in system properties) reboot so the system will not attempt to restart when you get your blue error screen. This will allow you to see what error.

    Kind regards

  • Equium A60 - failure of resume and press a key to continue

    Hello
I have an Equium A60 which is coming up with 'failed to resume and Press any key to continue' when I turn it on. This FAILED after the battery is and it stop. By pressing a button any does nothing.

I can't enter the BIOS if I'm fast until the message arrives, and it is set to the Startup Mode, will not resume. I tried to reset the default settings, removal of hard drives and boot from other devices, but it does not seem to happen, so I canoe perform a BIOS update either.
Ive had the machine goes in search of a battery that I can remove or I can press a reset button, but I couldn't find anything.

I can do, or is it totally dead for good?

Please help me! Its a laptop second hand, but I have had it a week! ;)

    Simon

    Hello

Could you please check if the HARD drive has been recognized in the BIOS!
If she recognized the war you should try to install a new OS.
Boot from the CD by pressing the C key immediately after starting the laptop.

    You can also try this:
Simply remove the cache connector unplugged the HARD drive HARD drive and plug it in again, turn on the laptop.
If the same message appears, simply press the SPACEBAR and check if the operating system boots from the HARD drive.

  • Equium A60-191: 'request could not be performed because of an i/o device error. "

I have an Equium A60-191 my dvd drive has stopped working, the led on this subject is on all the time like his who seek constantly.
It does not read the CD or dvd and gives an error "REQUEST COULD NOT BE PERFORMED DUE TO A DEVICE IO ERROR.

I tried to remove and reinstall the drive from the Device Manager, it doesn't help. I also tried to boot from the drive computer, but does not start, so I think that the drive does not work.

I also noticed that the motor does not work in the reader, because that drives don't spin. Device Manager indicates that the drive works properly. Anyone know what is this error?

    1. click on start
    2. right click on my computer
    3. Select manage from the menu that appears
    4. in the computer management window, select Device Manager
    5. in the right pane, click to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
6 identify your CD/DVD drive in the menu expanded and right click on the appropriate drive
    7. Select Properties
    8. in the Properties window, click the Advanced Settings tab
    9. in the Transfer Mode box that represents your CD/DVD drive (typically device 1), open the menu drop down and select PIO only
    10. click OK and exit all windows.

If this does not solve your problem, then you need to go back using the procedure above and change device 1 to #9 step will support to 'DMA if available '. Then, change the device 0 to "PIO" only in the Transfer Mode box.

    Device 0: Primary IDE Channel
    Unit 1: Secondary IDE Channel

Of course, he could also be dead DVD player. In this case, a new drive should solve the problem.

  • How to start the recovery on Equium A60?

Hi, I have to do a factory reset on my Equium A60, I put the cd in but cannot get it started the recovery, some can help me please? Thanks in advance

    Hi EPAs

Turn recovery media in the CD/DVD drive and disappears. Press the power button and hold the C button. This means the unit choose CD/DVD drive as the first boot device.

Otherwise, you can change the boot priority in the BIOS settings and set the CD/DVD device as the first.

    Good bye

  • Equium A60: Impossible recovery - HARD drive failure?

I have an Equium A60 (PSA67E-001004NO), which is about 3 years.
Due to a lot of hanging and the full suite of failure at startup, I decided to use the recovery followed with her CD.
Recovery procedure is followed as prescribed but the progress bar in the recovery process doesn't move at all and after a while, it shows a black screen with warning of failure and goes to a screen with X: / > which doesn't react to exit or leave an order.

You need to restart. Have you tried the procedure several times and sometimes it shows cannot find EDISK
Now, he doesn't even respond to the restore CD and pressing of C very beginning... it s just a black screen with nothing to do.

Is it possible that the hard drive is faulty or something with the recovery procedure?
I n t tried with Windows OEM but there any help and how to do with it.

Toshiba has been a trustworthy companion in the last 3 years and it would be nice if it can be restored with the real amount of monetary resources.

    Any help

First of all, try to use an original installation disk to Windows. Insert the disc and boot from the CD, and then follow the instructions provided by the installation routine.

Maybe your recovery CD is not working more properly, so this method should say whether or not he is the recovery media.

  • Equium A60 with defective built in memory

    Hello

I tried to recover my Equium A60 with the recovery DVD and it does not boot to windows. I tried to install a number of different versions of windows and the error messages lead me to the conclusion that the module memory is faulty. The system came with 256 MB of memory and it is hard because it is part of the motherboard. My question is if I buy a memory module and install it in the expansion slot will be it be prevented from working by the faulty memory?

    Post edited by: binkey1st

    Hey Kevin,

There is unfortunately no way to isolate the faulty RAM on your motherboard. Even if you install a second module of RAM the system always tries to use the built in so defective module.

You will need to take you laptop to an ASP for the defective replace module.

    Kind regards

  • Equium A60 does not work properly with the Logitech Quickcam Fusion

If someone managed to use a webcam Logitech Quickcam Fusion with an Equium A60?

I installed the latest available drivers and software and most of the time it screws right up to the operation of the computer. He ends by crashes so bad that I can't recover even using Manager Windows task! If I leave the USB cable connected to the PC, 9 times out of ten, it won't boot into Windows, until I have remove lead :(

I installed the same software and drivers on my desktop PC and the device works very well every time and the boots OK with the camera connected to a USB port.

Two computers use Win XP with SP2 and all updates.

    Hello Bill

Do you have problems with the USB ports if you are using other devices? I really don? t know what can be the problem. Check the Logitech SUPPORT PAGE

Maybe you'll find some tips there.

Anyone has any ideas on where to find a solution to this. Is it software or hardware releated etc.

    Thanks much for any help.

    Hello!

In my view, this could be a problem with the drive HARD or Windows.

First of all, I would like to check the HARD disk:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

If the HARD drive has no error I would reinstall Windows with the recovery because you disk as no access in safe mode.

    Good bye
