Update Mac OS, now VMWare Fusion does not start

I upgraded to Mac OS 10.4.11 on Intel MacBook Pro and now VMWare Fusion does not start.  I've since installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled to Fusion 2.0.2.  That did not help

I have attached the logs from VMWare. Any suggestions?

John

Hi John,.

I checked your logs - thank you for them!  That you use in an accident in one of the Apple libraries (OpenSSL, to be precise), which uses VMware Fusion.

I see a number of Mac OS X 10.4.11 users complain about the accident even in iTunes:

http://discussions.Apple.com/thread.jspa?MessageID=8254606

http://forums.Macworld.com/thread/105826

They claim that the installation of the latest Apple security updates (they specifically mention 2008-007) solves the problem.

Can you try to install the latest security updates, and let us know if this fixes the bug Apple?

Thank you!

Ben

    Hello world

The night last VMWare fusion stop Windows XP on it is.  I use Mac OS X.  Now, the screen is black. I can not shut down or restart the virtual machine. It only allows me to suspend.  I have already stopped my mac once and restarted. When I restarted VMWare the screen remains black.  I found the following on the support page suggesting. I can understand how everythign except 'launch of Fusion parameters.  I'm afraid to try this to spoil things. I have attached a few newspapers. I was looking on the forum and it seems that a few people have asked this problem, but I didn't know what to do by reading the discussions.  Any thoughts? Fixed certain log files.

To be on the right side read a bit about where to find things of A Beginner's Guide to VMware Fusion

Once you find your current VM (this is what I meant by VM topic), then you can either copy & paste as you suggest, or drag another hard drive (if you have several available) and it will copy.  From my experience, it takes about 1 GB / minute to copy between 2 Firewire 400 external drives, then the copy may take some time depending on the size of the virtual machine is.

It's probably a good sign that Shut Down Guest is active, then force power off can back you on track.

By chance, you had just upgraded merger, or have you tried to upgrade VMware Tools when this started to happen?  At the end of the log, it seemed that tools attempted an update, and I wonder if you are stuck in some kind of loop when trying to manage this.

Backup and try the power first, I hope that you will get underway again.

Turn Windows Defender on or off the information on the link above of Microsoft.

    And also read this:

If you have Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, McAfee, Norton, etc. installed, they have a conflict with Windows Defender, or turn it off.

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and it automatically disables the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

  • I just updated Firefox and now it crashes, does not not tabs or add-ons, and the user interface is all messed up.

I was power off update of Firefox for a while because I knew some of my modules aren't compatible yet, and the main reason I use firefox is because of the multitude of modules. Finally today I decided to go and let it install. As soon as he returns to the top, it's completely different from the way I had my firefox. The buttons are all moved around, each tab has two Xs to close with the back button does not work, there is no way to scroll more tags do not take on the screen and for some reason the firefox button is not collapse in the main beam.

My session has not been restored, either, which really annoyed me, because I had a very high volume of open tabs. Right now I just want to come back, because I hate what happened, but I know that's not possible.

I'm sorry to hear that you have so many questions. What version of Firefox you used before?

The problem of double title bar has been identified as a problem with the extension of the tax Mix Plus but it does not affect everyone, there is an interaction with something else (not exactly what clear although Norton Toolbar has been mentioned in a thread).

There is a new version available that you can try. If Firefox is stable enough to do...

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > Add ons > ' gear' icon > check updates

If your beta version does not update, you can try to install from the Add-ons site.

More generally, can I suggest disabling the extensions as much as you can live without for 24 hours and gradually reactivate? This should help isolate the interactions between them. As you know, you can do so here:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

Finally, about your old session, if you have not closed Firefox, you could find a sessionstore.bak file in your profile folder that contains your old session. For easy access to this file, try

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

Grab a copy of this file and save it somewhere outside the folder because it is overwritten when you close Firefox. Had to run, but if find you one with a suitable date, a person can help you to restore.

    https://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 7960893

but now most of the vcenter services does not start cause of according to the inventory service.  I see service log of inventory which is the problem, it tries to connect to SQL Server by default, 1433 port, but my SQL server instance is listening on a different fixed port, I don't want to change.  Where can I configure the inventory service we another port of SQL Server?  According to a KB related to the above, it is possible to do

    https://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & externalId = 2033516

but unfortunately I have vcenter 6 and the instructions above do not seem to apply, I can't even find ssocli, the mentioned folder structure does not exist on my installation

    Thank you.

I solved this.  Despite what has been reported in the newspaper the issue was not the port.  The new database is a named instance, the connection string for vcdb.properties, he entered as the server name = hostname\instancename in fact, it is necessary to use two slashes return hostname\\instancename :-/

  • 4.1.1 Fusion on Mac OS 10.7.3 does not start XP, W7 or Ubuntu after recent updates

I don't know when this happened precisely because I have not used 4 Fusion in awhile, but I just tried to run the merger and not my memory starts virtual disks. I have 3: Windows XP Pro, Windows 7 Pro and Ubuntu. When I run one of them, I get the error: "could not open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory." Please make sure that 'vmmon' kernel is loaded. "Can anyone help? I'm under 4.1.1 Fusion on Mac OS 10.7.3.

Hi tonyinthecityand welcome to the VMware communities!

We're actively investigating a problem causing a Fusion 4 + Lion host machines to frustrate dynamically load our extensions of kernel (including the vmmon kext) at the right time.  As much as it pains me to say it, restart your host machine might get your VM will once again at least until you leave next merger.

You can quickly give that a try and see if it's going you again?  If so, rest assured that we do not consider restart to be a long-term solution... we are looking on the problem.  If it does not help and your virtual machines will not immediately work after the reboot, after return and we'll continue troubleshooting.

    I hope this helps!

  • Updated to mountain lion VMWare Fusion3 does not

OK, before anyone says that stupid, it was to be upgraded without checking compatibility please Don ' t bother. On the other hand, never knew a piece of software that does not allow you to upgrade even if such.

Then spend useless wisdom, I'm stuck and would appreciate some advice.

I upgraded to mountain lion, thinking that I can spend my VM directly afterwards. To my surprise, the VM Fusion icon has a no entry he sign with no option to upgrade. I need three of my virtual machines back to life, running VMware Fusion 3.1.

I made a backup using my time machine, I don't like if I have to revert to my version of snow leopard OS just to the virtual machine working again or purchase an upgrade to Fusion 5. I don't know if one can bring back those VM.

Please help, all my work is in those virtual machines.

    Thank you.

    > I have 3 VM created in Fusion 3.1, Ive upgraded my MAC to mountain lion (10.8.1), the upgrade of vmware will allow me to access my vm?

The answer is Yes, but make sure you stop the virtual machine properly. (Do not force stop) As woody said, you can back up the virtual machine and give it a try on the trail of 30 days.

    > I updated to Fusion 5 because that's the only option I see available or what I need to improve some how to 4.1.3?

Upgrade to Fusion 5 is preferred. With 49.99 to Profression 5 Fusion Fusion 3 standard is a good deal. If you switch to Fusion 4, you pay once to upgrade in the future. Why not use the latest version of the software directly with the same amount of money?

  • Updated MacBook Pro, now Creative cloud does not load

Recently I updated my Mac to the latest OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan. After updating, I randomly got 'failure of the plug-in' every now and then, sometimes while watching a video, it will just stop working.

I thought it would be that I had not put to update something in my adobe, so I went to my creative cloud to see if there were updates available.

The only problem is that whenever I open the creative cloud, she is just completely white. At first I thought maybe it was just slow or loading so I left it for a few minutes, but no matter how long I leave nothing changes.

A way to fix this problem, or the plug-in to crash?

    Thank you!

    Laura

First, close your office cc application.

then, rename the opm.db file by:

    Navigate to the OOBE folder.

Windows: [system drive]: \Users\ [user name] \AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

Mac OS: /users/folder/Library/Application Support / Adobe / OOBE

and rename the file opm.db in opm_old.db, for example

Finally, launch your cc desktop application.

If this does not work: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/blank-white-screen-ccp.html

  • VMWare Fusion does not charge: '... /.» Trash/Windows XP Home Edition.vmwarevm' does not exist.

    Hello

Friday, I emptied my Mac desktop trash to get rid of the old emails, etc..  I have never knowingly put anything VMware in the trash.  But now, when I try to load install VMWare Fusion to get to my old Windows XP, I get this error message.  I tried many restorations of Time Machine, without success. Is it possible to get the functionality back to Fusion without losing my old data in it?

Is it possible to get the functionality back to Fusion without losing my old data in it?

In case the explanations of Woody is not clear: a .vmwarevm bundle contains all * data related to a virtual machine. If it was in the trash and you drained, you have already lost your data. There is nothing to recover. Sorry to have to be the Messenger of bad news.

Internet on vmware fusion worked perfectly until yesterday, then suddenly it stopped working even if it still works on my mac. I have the new mac book pro (without the snow leopard)

and btw im really stupid in theise things so if you could just tell me step by step what I need to do... Thank you

Before you start giving more attitude, realize that most people here do on their free time.  Not everyone is online every day.  If possible the person who has an answer for you, may not be online for several days.

In addition, you are asking in the wrong forum.  You will get more answers in the Fusion forum.  This is the sustained community forum Hardwware/software for the hardware not supported, which is not the merger.  At the top of the forum page, there is an information box "before the announcement of this community please read On the CSHWSW.

Then take a look at HOWTO: ask (and answer) Questions for some suggestions on info provide in the future so that it will be easier for others to help you.  As it is, you havne't say much more that "he doesn't."  You don't say what troubleshooting have you tried in addition to the screenshot.  "I have the new Macbook Pro, but without the snow leopard.  Well, the new MBP would have Snow Leopard.  But as indicated in the document related, different versions may have different problems if the version or build number is often useful.  (e.g.: OSX 10.5.1 is different than OSX 10.5.7 but both are OSX Leopard.)

Now, as to your question.  Let your virtual machine to NAT.  It will use your Mac a internet connection.  I'm assuming that your Mac has internet connectivity. (for example: you can launch Safari.)  Did you reboot the virtual machine and your Mac?  (Do not sleep or suspend, but a full power off the coast and then restart.)  I rarely reboot my Mac so I know it's easy to forget.
