Update of same security, KB2538242, installs whenever I shut down.

Since June 15, whenever I try to close the same security update is installed on my ProBook 4520 s running Windows 7 Pro. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hello

If the update is displayed as installed in the view installed updates, click check for updates again.  Click on the number of updates available to view individually, right-click the update of 2005 and select "Hide update".  This should prevent offered in the future.

Kind regards

  • August 2009, update security KB971657 installation problem

Hello, I have updated Windows XP Home to Vista Home Basic. I installed Windows updates in the past automatically when using Vista and have not had any problems until this last update from Microsoft.  I had to install one at a time all updates that were listed in August 11 09 post. All installed successfully, with the following exception.

Whenever I try to update and install KB971657:

First of all, it shows the updates have been installed successfully restart the computer to complete the update.
Second, it says configuration updates will shut down the computer.
Third, the computer restarts, turns back and says configuring updates step 3 of 3 do not turn off your computer.
Fourth, restarting the computer loads different files and stops at a file that says 47/47 (Registry\Machines\Components)
Fifth, the computer starts and says that updates are not configured correctly reverting changes do not turn off your computer.
Sixth, that the computer returns to the desktop with an icon in the bar tasks that announces that an update must be installed, which is be the same update.

    Need help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all

Microsoft has done a fantastic job on my computer troubleshooting. They sent an email me step by step instructions on what to do and then I will reply with my results. When a step didn't work, they e-mail me another. The only step that worked was an upgrade on the spot who fixed my corrupted files, so, I was able to receive updates. SP1 is installed without any problem SP2 however came up with the error MSDSM and I gave up immediately before that installation took place. I'm back to this site and found the fix has been released and now everything is fine, installed without a glich. Now my computer works finally as usual. Hope that everyone is able to get your problem fixed as well.

P.S. The upgrade in Place does not affect the settings on my computer, but I would like to backup just in case.

  • Use already downloaded updates for the new Win7 installation? __

Dial-up access to the Internet (no high speed access)
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Microsoft Office 2010 Professional

    Hello:

It took many extra hours to keep Windows 7 64-bit and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional update through Microsoft Windows Update by using the switched to internet connection.  All updates are up-to-date and kept up-to-date with the dial-up connection.

Eventually, I'll install cool Windows 7 64-bit with Microsoft Office 2010 Professional on the same computer with the same configuration.

Problem: Using Microsoft Windows Update to install security and bug fixes after a new installation of Windows 7 64 bit, using a dial-up connection will take days.

Possible solution: copy all the files in the folder: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download to another hard disk, and then copy it to the same place after a new installation of Windows 7 64-bit.

Then run Windows Update, it will find these files and reinstall will take minutes, instead of hours or days.

    Question:
    (1) Will this work?
    (2) are there other directories on the computer that should be copied to another hard disk, then back to a new installation of 64-bit Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional?  (Microsoft Office will install in the usual way, it's security and fixed bugs via Windows Update, I am referring to).

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

FYI: All other applications will be installed and updated, if necessary, the usual way.  My question is regarding security and bug fixes for 64-bit Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional by using Microsoft Windows Update.

  • Vista: All Windows updates suspended / "Module of Windows Installer has stopped working and Will Close."

On my installation of Vista, all windows updates no longer work.  If I try and run them from Windows Update in Control Panel one starts to run but then it just hangs.  At the same time, I get a message "Windows install Module has stopped working and closes".  If you look in the services, it is crushed, but restarts.  The update remains always hung.  It doesn't matter what update I try and run, I always get the same result.

When the computer is shut down, it also tries to automatically install updates.  These also hang on the first, which means that I have to force power off the computer.

Don't know if this is related, but I don't think that SP2 already installed - it kept if crush (don't remember what was the error message).  When I restart in safe mode it tells me that I'm still on SP1.  I followed all the suggestions on how to get SP2 installed for the error I received, but nothing has worked.

Do not really understand what I have really installed a lot of "_" on the PC, it is a "clean" installation (about 1 year now).

Any ideas?  Really, I don't want to have to do a re-install, but I suspect that is where I'm heading unfortunately.

    Hi AndrewInNZ,

Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows!

I would like to ask you some questions for a better understanding of the issue:

    (a) did you try to temporarily disable the security software and check if updates are smooth?

    (b) you are using a firewall in addition in instead of the windows firewall? If so disable (temporarily) of the third party firewall and look for updates.
It is usually caused by a 3rd party firewall that it blocks the internal ports.

Check out WERCON for more information-

    1) Click START | wercon.exe type in the search box start and click on enter.

    (2) select "View problem history", under 'Windows identified problems' with the right button on a problem, and then select "view problem details. Click "Copy to Clipboard" export to text document

    Also reset the Firewall setting:

    1) Click START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | Click on FirewallSettings.exe above | Select the Advanced Settings tab. Click 'Restore Defaults ' | Click on apply (if Hi-lighted) | Click OK

Check the status of the service as well:

    Log in as administrator-

Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools

    Double-click on Services

(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)

Right click on the 'Windows Modules Installer' service, and then select Properties.

Select the general tab - make sure that the startup type is manual

  • Flash update of same loop if it is updated (with FF 35.0 never no problem!)

A few weeks ago I started the installation of my new laptop. A FF 35.0. Installed Adobe Flash on Windows, so no plugin Flash FF and we were all happy rabbits.

Until version FF 35.01 came a few days ago. Just to be clear, I always have the latest version of Flash that updated them the current guard.

Now FF keeps giving me the message: "FireFox has prevented the obsolete plugin Adobe Flash running...". ». Laughing out loud

In my despair, I had even unnecessarily the Flash plugin. But NO JOY! The obsolete message keeps returning.

What is the problem?. Clearly, this has to do with the latest version of FF 35.01 as with the 35.0, I have not had ANY problems.

    Could someone please advise

    Thank you.

First - Firefox 35.0.1 was released the day before the last block Flash for Flash 16.0.0.287 was sent by Mozilla.

2nd - please click on the details of the system over to the right of your first posting in this thread. It shows that you have Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0 as a PluginInstalled. What it does not say is f before you version.243 ou.287 ou.296 installed.

So I guess the Flash 16.0.0.296 update was released the same day that Firefox 35.0.1 was released, too. OU.296 was released the next day and Mozilla was 'notice' and ' jump on ' update of the red list the same day. Time of the release of Firefox 35.0.1 may represent a moot point, because each user may not have got this update the same day that Mozilla has released it.

Finally, there are at least 3 different Flash versions available.
    ActiveX for IE
Plugin for Firefox and other Gecko-based browsers that use NPAPI
Pepper for Google Chrome and probably for some versions of the opera, which were published between Presto and Blink - namely the version of WebKit

Says what version of Flash you have installed this Adobe -http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ - page?

The review of Mozilla Plugin nay page was overloaded when you last used it. He seems to have been very slow at times, certain days of the week for recent weeks - from what I've seen and read in this forum.

Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at.  First of all, your Background Intelligent Transfer Services set to Automaticand started and Windows Update ? You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.

Since they are all Office updates, you can do a repair for office function.  To do this, click the Start button, type programs and features and click the enter key. Right click on Microsoft Office 2007 and choose change.  Choose fix and continue.  Microsoft Office will attempt to fix any problems there (this will) take a few minutes to run.

Sometimes in order to get patches to install correctly, you must perform these tasks manually.  Download and run each patch:

    KB980729

    KB981715

    KB976321

One last thing, you mention that you removed Norton.  Did you use just add/remove programs?  If so, you must run the Norton Romoval Tool (from Norton). Add/Remove Programs does not receive everything uninstalled.  Here is the link: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Hope this helps to get your installed patches.

Take a look at the suggestions in the right part of the screen: "more like this".

You will have multiple links to the same question with suggested solutions.

In my case, I was able to update without this message when the update has been published. Later, I upgraded to Windows 10, installed PSE14 and uninstalled PSE13. I have reinstall PSE13 some time after and now I can't update to 13.1... Not a big deal for me, but the issue is not resolved.
