Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Who has not completely worked for me, however, if I pulled upward from Regedit
    (Start-> Run-> 'Regedit')

Note that editing the registry is dangerous, so make sure that you first create a backup of the registry and know how to restore it in case things go very wrong.

  • Windows7 started to freeze on two computers after that microsoft sent an update to silverlight.these computers work a long time before the update.

Windows7 started to freeze on my and my computer wives at the same time that it was after Microsoft sent an update for Silverlight down on 23/07/2014. These computers have worked very well for years without any problem. I tried to uninstall the update, but Microsoft has changed the name and number of the update and I don't know who it is. I don't understand why they are doing anyway. Does anyone else have this problem. Help, please.    hushpups Thank YOU.

    Hello

Thank you for reaching out to us to Microsoft Community.

Ideally, Windows updates from Microsoft doesn't cause problems with freezing of the computer.  Microsoft recommends that you install all the recommended updates and it protects your computer against potential threats, and it also maintains.

The question you are faced to could be linked to corrupt Silverlight which can cause computer freeze if the associated Silverlight Windows Update are installed.

To resolve this problem, I will ask you uninstall to clean up the corrupted installation of Silverlight and then reinstall Silverlight.

To do this, please follow the steps described in the Microsoft Support Article below.

How to clean a facility damaged Silverlight and then reinstall Silverlight

Also, I recommend that you turn on automatic updates. Important updates provide significant benefits, such as improved security and reliability. You can also set Windows to automatically install recommended updates, which can address non-critical problems and help enhance your computing experience. Microsoft updates and optional updates are not downloaded or installed automatically.

Activate the update or disable automatic

I've upgraded to Windows 7 using a disc of Microsoft; Windows Update started downloading the updates.  Now it will not shut without doing it manually.  If there are 5 updates, it may hang on the update 4.  Then, after much cleaning in safe mode, etc, it will work perfectly, but hang in there 'shutting down '.  even if left overnight.

  • Roll back the update of Silverlight

On 29 September, Microsoft Update has eliminated an update of Silverlight. I suspect that it was the cause of the changes in functionality in a program that I use, so I want to uninstall this update to conduct tests. How can I do this? It doesn't seem to be installable via Win7 Pro 64-bit programs and features.

Windows Update said today that it is 'important' that I have to install an update for Silverlight.  As far as I know, I've never installed Silverlight.  How can I be sure?

Of course - if you have not installed - you would get the offer for the update (or if you did, the update installation will fail.)  ;-)

  • Update of Silverlight for Vista Home Premium

I installed the latest version of windows (silverlight) it shows that it is installed and whenever I go to shutdown or restart of the screen installation shows updated and hangs there. I left it on last night during overnight and this morning the screen was showing the same. I restored the system, but it is always the case. When I check the update history, it shows that it has been installed on 4 different days.

    Hello

Looks like at its could be a corrupted installation of the Silverlight.
Corrupt installation sometimes due to a partial transfer of the software or some time the firewall into the computer may crash the changes made to the windows registry.
It would be better to disable the security temporarily software while installing updates.

Try to remove this update completely from the computer
    1. click on start
2 type appwiz.cpl and press enter
    3. you should have programs and features
    4. on the left side of the window, you will need to click View installed updated
    5. in the update list, please find the update and uninstall completely

Once the update is completely deleted open internet explore and go to http://download.microsoft.com and search for the update, download and reinstall on the computer.
Once the update is installed, restart the computer and try to perform the update of windows and check.
