Update satellite A200 - 14F CPU T7400/T7600 and BIOS update

Hello

I want to upgrade my current Core Duo T2450 CPU to something faster or T7400, T7600.

I know that PM945 will manage it but what about the BIOS? I have 1.80 which is the last for my model.

Where can I find that some BIOS change log to see if the newer processors are supported?

Are you sure that you want to upgrade the processor?
An upgrade of the CPU will not bring much more performance but mobile CPU's are fairly expensive and maybe they are not supported in the BIOS or motherboard.

Moreover, Toshiba doesn't support a CPU Exchange. You can do this, but at your own risk.

Normally a BIOS change log you can find on the driver of Toshiba download page, but if you can find t we Web does not exist on the site.
But I'm pretty sure that Toshiba doesn't add new taken processors supported by a new BIOS because it s not supported.

    Hello

I have A200-14F. When I'm coding a video two processor cores temperature gets really close to 80 C. for the most part it's C 78 or 79 C.
I am seriously concerned about this. Is - this safe temperature? I don't think it's safe to work at 80 ºC for about 12 hours.
Currently I am slow speed of the processor through energy saving settings.

This temperature is safe for my laptop? Should I fear not overheating? Or should slow enough CPU to lower temperatures than i?

    Concerning

    Hello

Usually the laptop would shut down automatically to prevent the equipment from damage if the internal temperature would be too high.
In addition the 80 c is rich but not too high. AFAIK the CPU temperature can reach 100 c max, but I think that your laptop would be closed before CPU should reach this temperature.

What you could do is to clean the vents. Sometimes the cooling modules may not cool properly because the vents are blocked.

    Hello

The BIOS battery can be replaced by only authorized service. to do this the laptop everything must be dismantled. By the way: see s operating manuals. You will find info how to load the BIOS battery.
If I remember correctly the laptop must be connected to the adapter sector more than 48 hours. Check in the manuals.

  • Satellite A200-1AX: card reader SD and BT do not work after installing Win XP

    Hello

About a year and a half, I bought my laptop Toshiba Satellite A200-1AX and I'm very happy with it.
It had Vista on it. For this OS, my SD slot worked, but I don't know the bluetooth because I don't use it.

Some time passed and I removed Vista and now I have Windows XP with sp3.
All right, but the SD slot does not work. Bluetooth does not work as well and it is not listed in Device Manager.
I tried Toshiba Bluetooth stack, and when the installation reaches the driver part it does not move.

Here's a screenshot of my device manager:

Those with question marks is not supported by XP as I know, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hello

Satellite A200-1AX belongs to the PSAE6E series.
It s equipped with BT module so after installing battery BT BT should work correctly, you need to activate using the FN + F8 keys.

    Regarding the housing of card reader SD;
You must install the Flash Media Driver for Texas Instruments. This is the driver for the Bridge Media Slot. This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.

By the way; the BIOS must be updated after the installation of Win XP. There is a version of BIOS (5, 60-WIN right now) that is specially designed for Win XP

  • Satellite A200 (PSAFCA) does not work after BIOS update triying

    Hello

I was hoping if someone could help me pls.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 (PSAFCA).
Recently, I tried the bios update and while I flashed the bios I forgot to plug the laptop into the current and the battery was flat at half way through the flashing.

Thus the laptop now won't post when I turn on and all I get is a white screen.
I was wondering if someone could pls advise me on how I can get the old bios back or even a method of flashing it if I put the bios back in so I can at least get a message to display on the screen.

Any help that you provide would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss.

    Thanking you in advance

    muzzy001

    > while I flashed the bios I forgot to plug the laptop into the current and the battery flat at half way through the flashing.

Well buddy, the cell must always be connected to the mains during the execution of an update of the BIOS! This is very important!
Now it looks like the update of BIOS didn't t run and finish correctly and the ROM module seems to be flashed incorrectly.

Unfortunately, there is no other solution to communicate with ASP guys and ask for help! They should be able to help you.

But note; in the worst cases, the ROM module is unfortunate and the motherboard needs to be replaced.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A200-1BJ tends to overheat and cutting everything in game

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop. He has a tendency to overheat and shut down when I play games. CPU was just before 107C the emergency stop.

Fan works, but fan speed gets ever faster from 70 ° C to stop. (I know it can go faster, because when I flashed the Bios, he spends at maximum speed.)

So my question is: is there a way I can force fan to move at full speed?

    Hi Jason

    > I have problem with my laptop. He has a tendency to overheat and shut down when I play games. CPU was just before 107C the emergency stop.
I agree with you. It really looks like an overheating problem.
If the internal temperature reaches a critical level then the laptop stops automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

    Why a laptop overheat?
Well, there are various reasons such warm-ups.
First of all it is possible that don t cooling modules work correctly because of the dust and debris inside the laptop.

You must also make sure that there is enough free space around the laptop to ensure fresh air circulation.

At the other hand as a graphic driver non-Toshiba could cause an overheating problem.
This is why you should always use a graphics driver for the Toshiba driver page.

Please check the points mentioned and maybe you might know the reason for the overheating problem.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A200-13 M - black screen and will not turn off

    Hello

I just bought a * Satellite A200 13 M *. In the first market, Windows Vista seems to be properly installed and worked to internet (wifi) access. The Norton program has been updated, and I could download and install OpenOffice. However, as OpenOffice had reported a small amount of disk space available (55 GB) I tried to see the hard drive in the browser.

I clicked on Control Panel and waited to open. At this point, the arrow of the mouse has frozen. After awhile, I tried Ctrl, Alt, Del, and the system asked if I wanted to stop. I did, and a new screen has announced that Windows is being closed. This screen froze then in turn. I waited for a while and then tried to turn it off with the switch. The screen went black.

However, the blue light comes on, the fan is still running, but I nothing seems to wake up the machine. I called the service of maintenance of the shop, I bought from (Darty), but they are overloaded and said they'd call me in a couple days (!). Is there anything I can do in the meantime that would allow me to continue to work with the machine.

    Thank you

    Tim Mason

    Strange sounds! But it's a computer and sometimes, these machines don't {color: #ff0000} {color} strange things ;)

Anyway... try to remove the battery from the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
Wait about 20-30 min and connect everything again.

Then try turning on the laptop computer. If it is not a serious problem, the laptop must again!

Well, I'm about accurately - and a new external hard drive My Book by W * digital Stern (the Studio Edition with 1 TB of storage).
So I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 14 d. I read in the manual to my laptop it has port i.LINK (IEEE 1394-a).

Ext.hard My Book drive has FireWire 400/800. I read on the internet that FireWire and i.LINK are the same for the IEEE 1394 standard.
They're just different names. i.LINK is by S * ny and FireWire is by Ap * the Inc. Because I'm not sure I would ask here: if I connect an external device (in my case - ext.hard drive) which is supposed to be with the ability to connect via FireWire 400/800 to my laptop i.LINK port, there will be a kind of incompatibility?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Yes, i.Link, firewire or IEEE 1394 has the same meaning. ;)

    Hello

Autour Googling, I found many comments on the problems of sound using Yahoo Vista. Have you checked what others write about it? Yahoo is not my favorite Messenger but I would like to know if you are using the version for Vista?

Unfortunately, I can't say anything about Norton. I tested this version of 90 days on my P200, but after a few days I have removed from the system. It is not my favorite for the protection of the system program.

  • Satellite A200-1UM - prohibitions of departure and not possible formatting

    Hi all

At first, I want to apologize if my English is not so well and maybe a little hurt.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200-1UM Cristmas 2007 and until now I never had big problems with it, but now, I got a huge.
Yesterday, when I came back from school, I started first, as always my computer to check my emails, etc..
At first, all was normal the normal screen appeared: "Toshiba Leading innovations", after the screen with flashing underscore, but after that line... a progress bar appears with text on this subject: "Windows loading files.
I thought: hm k allow it to load its files...

Right after loading all seemed to be OK, the next screen came: (C) Microsoft Corp. with the green bar moving on it, normal as...
But then after that, it became black... nothing more...
I waited... and waited... and waited, but nothing happened...
Then I restarted, maybe it would work now, but it happened again the same screen loading and so on... and she went back to black...
Then I tried to start it in mode (I pressed F5 on the 2nd loading screen)
I tried all the different options of Save mode, but it still stopeped to drivers\disk.sys... I had like crazy... I tried different options to F5: finally begin the normal version and so forth, but all collapsed at any time... and nothing happened that more...

I had enough I put on my discovery of product and wanted to format it all... In the first screen, I press F12 and I went CD/DVD (product recovery disc), but this * progress bar appears again and the (C) Microsoft Corp Screen and it still got black * wuhuuuo-.-'*.

I hope you can help me...

Better accommodate the of the Germany...

    Hello

Your question is strange because the bar of progress Windows appears and it would mean that the operating system that is installed on the HARD disk can be booted from the HARD disk.
And this means that the HARD drive is still in use.

However, it could be a HARD disk failure.
As resident suggested, you can check the HARD drive using the HARD drive fitness test.
He will check the HARD drive, and will show you the status of the HARD drive.

If everything is OK with your HARD drive, then it must be another malfunction.
You said that you could not start using the Toshiba recovery disc.
Maybe you should try another disk bootable as MS original Windows XP CD.
