• Satellite P200 - 157 BIOS update failed - need help

  I bought a P200-157 to my son in summer 2007.
  My son decide without asking me, upgrade the bios of motherboard with the VICTORY of 1.70 he downmloaded on the Toshiba download server.

  He started the update in windows mode.
  Unfortunalety, the upgrade stopped during the backup previous version. The laptop was frozzen.

  It never boot from the problem of the tha.
  I'm tying to create a crisis, but recovery disk it of seem to exist different versions of PHLASH16. EXE.

  Do any of you know if crisis mode-recorery is available for laptop P200?
  What version of PHLAS16. EXE is required and in what mode the disk has to be create (native DOS mode)?

  I bought a USB external floppy drive and try the last days, but unsuccefully.

  That s a pity :(
  The update of the BIOS is always a tricky process and there is always a small piece of risk.
  Usually, if the BIOS update has failed then you need a help of a technician of the ASP.

  The point is that you would need an update of the traditional BIOS to reflash the chip for the BIOS again.
  But the Toshiba driver page provides only the victory of the BIOS which can be updated only from Windows OS-based.

  Therefore, you will need to contact a local ASP which might help you.

  Hello when you run the microsoft update in the start menu, I am now getting a totally different message, then I have before I've never had this problem before when I'm trying to update I get the error message "403 - Forbidden: access denied."

  I have automatic updates turned off that I prefer to manually update.

  This has happened only since I installed the microsoft security essentials, but I also got nod32 on my computer as I have now deleted these two and nothing will do, the problem persits, I decided just to install security essentials miccrosoft and I can't update as well as the exact message I get is as follows

  
  "" microsoft security essentials was not able to verify the defination of virus and spyware updates
  error code: 0 x 80004002

  "" error description: the microsoft security essentials was unable to download definition updates, because your computer uses an older version of the windows update client or becvause windows could not start the service that transfers data.

  I use 32 bit microsoft xp professional, sp3 installed with all the updates until about 3 weeks ago

  If you haven't tried items on this thread then get started with them.  XP troubleshooting

  So I recommend you to run Chkdsk/r

  And test your memory with the Memory Diagnostic.

  "Can manage Windows XP Home Edition of Windows 8?"

  Two problems: there is no Windows 8 and even if there were, Windows XP Home Edition would not not 'manage '.  ;-)

  I drop McAfee for a few different freeware products.  Or better yet I'd get two products 'cost' (~ 25 and 60 dollars) and install them and use them in the future - but WHEN you are trying to clean up.

  You seem like you maybe sincerely - at a time when a format/install of Windows XP/patching/installation of applications/patch/restore backups of your data is the best course of action.

  However, if you are willing to work - maybe we can at least get things cleaned up to a certain point where you can get a good backup before doing this (otherwise avoid doing all together.)

  In the order shown, do not jump (no matter what you do, what you have done in the past, etc.) ...

  First of all - download, install, operate and put to update and then run a full system scan with the following two (one at a time, reboot in-between):

  • MalwareBytes (FREE)
  • SuperAntiSpyware (FREE)

  After you perform a full scan with one then the other and remove anything they have all two are completely, you can uninstall these products, if you wish.  This initiative will allow to check there is no malware floating around your system which could cause problems.  If you ask - no, Norton probably does not protect you from what these applications can find.

  Download and run the MSRT tool manually:

  (Ignore the details and download the tool to download and save to your desktop, run it.)

  Reset.

  Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

  Reset.

  Download/install the latest program Windows installation (for your operating system):

  (Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

  I need help, and looking for the forums just makes me worse headache. I need to use passthrough printing, but the Mac printer does not in the comments.

  Details: OS X 10.5.6 Fusion 2.0.2. Guest is Windows 2000 SP4. Security Update 2009 - 001 has not been applied.

  The printer is a HP PhotoSmart C4480 printer attached to the Mac via USB.

  In order to avoid the obvious questions:

  Passthrough fusion printer is active. Become disabled as some users report. The Serial Port is present and connected. In OS X printer sharing is enabled in the world and for this printer (but my impression is that it should not be).

  I confirmed that the printer works from OS X. And he is listed in the merger USB menu.

  The process of Thinprint TPAutoConn * are underway on the guest. COM1 and COM2 are both present.

  The user can not use the old printer sharing solution because there is no Windows 2000 for this printer drivers. The VM is totally dependent on the system of Thinprint, and I never put in place before. Have never seen a working configuration.   Well I wouldn't went all the trouble to clean the building a Machine virtual Windows 2000 Pro SP4 with VMware Tools installed and printers enabled for the Virtual Machine settings and took all the dialog boxes and to make a film of the if I did had not bother to actually check and see if she would print!
