  • Start of updates causing problems

    Hello

I have a vista operating system.

Since a few months now whenever windows installs an update on my computer, the next time I go to start it it refuses to do.

So I changed the settings to make sure it didn't install anything without anything to say then, but for some reason that the computer keeps deciding to change these settings on it installs and own agreement anyway. Which means that every week or two my computer will not start again. These problems occur only when it installs the microsoft windows updates that are not security ones or curiously Java.

Anyone has an idea why it continues to be and how to stop it because it's getting pretty boring.

    Thank you.

Java has its own update system, it does not use Windows Updates settings.  Open the Java Control Panel in the control panel to configure updates.  Probably something similar happens with other products you have to check their update setting.

  • install the new windows update software problem

I encountered this problem with the updates, I'll check the updates and it comes back with the following:

Install new windows update software; to check the updates you must first install an update for windows update. your automatic update settings will not change.

I click Update button, it starts to download the update, then it flashes an error message, but so fast, you cannot read and ends with this message:

Look for updates for your computer; always install the updates to your computers and the preformance.

Has anyone else had this issue or offer suggestions.

  • Windows 7 standalone update installation problem.

I recently installed Windows 7 N (Professional), I checked the updates and it is was always so I downloaded updates of autonomous msu as well as windows update 7.6 agent. Now the problem is when I installed the update agent he allows me to install 2 msu files and for the 2 next I need to install the agent update again, and worth forever. This means that for the installation of 20 files msu, I must install agent update 10 times. If this isn't the case, made the third msu file continues searching for updates in the computer.

It is expected by M$, we must now jump through hoops to clean install.

If looking for updates to hang on a current installation,

Switch your windows update setting to never check the updates temporarily

    Restart the machine

Then you download this from your download folder run from there.

    https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/library/security/MS16-039?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

    Download the x 86 for 32-bit or x 64 for 64-bit

Install it and restart when prompted too after he did a search of stand-alone for updates that should not

take too long, it took all of 5 seconds, '' If '' windows update settings are turned on forever check

updates before running from the downloads folder.

    Once it installs and restarts

You can reset your updates affecting everything you had before default =...

    Then check the updates manually.

I think that the solution came from Softpedia and Joel_CS posted on this thread,

You must scroll down for Joel SC post threads, it is the last answer on this page,

  • Unable to access windows update settings, message, some settings are managed by your system administrator. »

Original title: unable to automatically update important updates.

There is no error message when I open Control Panel > system and security > Windows Update > change settings.

On this page, that I can't even select or choose other important updates options.

In addition, on top of the same page, there is information highlighted: "some settings are managed by your system administrator."

However, I have a personal laptop at home and use the laptop as administrator.

I already tried troubleshooting, but it was useless for this problem.

    Hi Said,

It seems that you use Windows 8. You will not be able to access the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) If you use Windows 8. Group Policy Editor can have access on Windows 8 Pro/Enterprise edition of Windows 8.

Have you tried the other suggestions contained in my previous post? security software i.e. un-installing third if installed computer and to access the windows update settings by enabling the built-in Windows administrator account.

If you have tried the steps above, please answer us with results to help you further.

  • Flash Player update settings

    Hello

In our Department, always put us Flash Player to never check the updates.

As admins, we wanted to take control of the distribution of the Flash to avoid potential problems.

There have been 3 Flash updates in the last 2 weeks, so we decided it's better to let the updates to install.

We do not want go through 100 Macs and change the configuration manually one computer at a time.

Can you help me how and what preference I can edit to be distributed to all computers to change this setting?

    Thank you

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,

The update settings are stored in the mms.cfg file.  On Mac, it is located in/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/mms.cfg

There are two types of updates: background updates and Notification:

    • For background updates Flash Player checks an update once a day (this interval is not adjustable), in the background, and if an update is found, it automatically installs the player, silently in the background.  No user interaction is required.

      • The parameters of the file mms.cfg for background updates are:

    AutoUpdateDisable = 0

    SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 1

    • Flash Player checks for updates of the Notification, an update, silently in the background once every 7 days (this interval is adjustable).  If an update is detected, a Notification of update dialog box displays informing the user that an update is available.  The user can proceed to the installation or service of notice to reject.  If rejected, the process repeats again within 7 days. For updates of the Notification, the user will be asked to provide a password for the Admin to install Flash Player.  If your users do not have administrator permissions or access an administrator account, then updates background would be the best option.

      • Updates the notification:

    AutoUpdateDisable = 0

    SilentAutoUpdateEnable = 0

    • To change the Notification update check interval, add AutoUpdateInterval = #, where # is the number of days between intervals (valid values are 0-30, where 0 checks each content Flash in time is read, 1 is once per day, etc.).

Another solution is to accommodate updates to background in-house, on your server.  You download the file of resources containing updates, in the required directory structure, this post to your server internal and add an entry to the mms.cfg file to use your internal server.  If you host background updates internally, the workflow Notification update is disabled.  You can get more information on accommodations background updates internally to page 21 of the Guide Administration of Adobe Flash Player for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection.

  • How can I change Windows Update settings?

I want to change my Windows Update settings, but it is grayed out.  On the top it says "SOME SETTINGS ARE MANAGED BY YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR", but I am the administrator.  It comes to my own personal computer.  I ran my anti virus and spyware and my computer seems to be clean.  I tried disabling my firewall and it does not help.

    Any other suggestions?

And the Windows operating system is?

For Windows XP (nothing for Vista or Win7 at this stage).

1 check for the 'Automatic update' service manager
Click Start, select run, and type: Services.msc
    Press enter
    Locate the - "automatic update".
Make sure that the service is not disabled and started.

    2. If the service is disabled and cannot be started:

    Go to START, select RUN
    Type: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
    Press Ok

  • Windows updates won't find updates for Office or any other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

OK, so I just had to re - install Windows 7 on my laptop due to a disk failure (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) and hit a brick wall with trying to turn on Microsoft Updates instead of Windows updates.

I try to click on the link "Learn more" on the bottom of the page to update on the line "Get updates for other products Microsoft." and it opens just a web page with a graphic telling me to open my Start menu and click on Windows updates.

Catch 22 is that Windows Update has no options for anything other than Windows. He won't find the updates for the office or any of the other Microsoft programs I installed and there is no option to enable it in Windows Update settings.

Exactly what I am missing, and where has Microsoft moved the activation of Microsoft Updates page too, because when I click on the link need me to http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 that makes a whole lot of nothing.

    Thank you!
