    Windows Update does not work

This is a very common problem lately.

Download and run the appropriate version for your system from the system update readiness tool.  System 32-bit X 86 must https://support.Microsoft.com/en-ca/KB/947821.  System 64-bit X 64.

  • Keyboard on my satellite error - 'L' key seems to be stuck, forces logut

Hello I'm fixing a satellite phone with a keyboard error, the 'L' key seems to be stuck permanently down, except that it's not! Also by clicking on the button start requires the user to be disconnected and returned the the login screen.

The keyboard is very well, I checked and cleaned and he ran through a keyboard test program, I started the system by using restore dvd navigation of xp sp2 installation.

Updated the bios to the latest version of xp put, same error.

I restored using a different copy of xp sp2, same error.

I've also been to windows update (without clicking Start!) and checked to make sure that the laptop has had the latest updates (there) is not a problem of update, I also checked for viruses and the machine is clean.

If someone has had this problem or did someone knows how to solve. I don't want to not bin the machine because it is only two years old, but she seems to be a hardware error any in my opinion.

I have used some text here in a previous post on the closed forum that was not resolved so indeed I'm restarting, but I have the same problems-plus in my case disconnection forced by clicking Start.

    Hello

For me, this looks like a keyboard failure.

A friend of mine had a similar problem with non-Toshiba notebook.
Finally, the technician changed the keyboard and the problem was gone.

I think you should just ask a Toshiba ASP, who is responsible for your country for a control and possibly replacement keyboard

    I think this should help

Hi everyone, I was asked to fix a satellite phone with a keyboard error, the 'L' key seems to be stuck permanently down, except that it's not! The keyboard is very well, I checked and cleaned and he ran through a keyboard test program, I started the system using a Linux live cd rather than the windows XP operating system, it already has in it.

In the live cd that we still get the same error, i.e. the "L" key continuously showing also depressed is not the driver, it takes the bios I think.

I've also been to windows update and checked to make sure that the laptop has had the latest updates (there) is not a problem of update, I also checked for viruses and the machine is clean.

It seems that you've tried everything that is possible to fix this. But without succeeding :(

  • I can't boot after installing the latest win xp updated system - missing or damaged/system32 hal.dll

I have win xp and that you have installed the latest updates 7 system - now I can't start.

    I get the message:

Windows didn't start because what follows is missing or corrupted /system32/hal.dll

I don't have a CD system - which can do? everything I read said to alter, copy, etc., but since I cannot start, I can't do it all.

    Help me please, thanks

XP trying to tell you that it cannot find the file.  It is extremely likely that the hal.dll file is really missing or damaged (XP just cannot find it).

You should not have the Windows XP installation CD for this problem.

It is very unlikely that the manufacturer will be able to you provide a XP installation CD, but contact them if you wish.

What would you do if YOU were the manufacturer?  Communicate with yourself?

The instructions in this link to replace the hal.dll file are bad, bad, bad.  If you follow them, you will need to replace the hal.dll file, but it will not be the correct hal.dll file.  There are 7 possible hal.dlls on the Windows XP CD, and check out the generic hal.dll file won't be one you need unless you run a virtual machine.  Clearly, the technical support engineers have never actually solved this problem.

Notice that the thread is not marked as 'response' by the original poster, but by a moderator of the Forum after a period of 5 to 10 days of inactivity where some MSE posted a link to a few articles in the KB (this is how things work here).

You should start by making a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r first just to be sure of the file system NTFS is not damaged.  Then see if you can start after that (maybe it won't).

THEN, you must use the Recovery Console to rebuild your boot.ini file.  I would like to rename the file c:\boot.ini first then you don't rebuild on top of the afflicted (this part is missing from the article).

I can't understand why Microsoft support engineers seem unable to display instructions to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton and Spybot.
AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Here's how to make a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

If you still have the same problem (likely), then the value rebuild your file c:\boot.ini as article says here:

  • T500 receives do not update via update system after Exchange of hard drive

    Hello forum,.

I replaced the broken Samsung 1 TB of HDD in my T500 with a 1 TB WD drive and restored the laptop of my latest backup (restore and recovery). After that everything seemed OK and promising until I realized that the Windows Update client and system update were not able to connect to their corresponding update servers or not able to actually look for updates.

It took me a while to find an answer and a solution for the problem of Windows Update:

The Samsung drive had the size of logical sector of 512 bytes, and the size of 512-byte physical sector. However, WD has now logical alternative but 4 k disk size physical sector of 512 bytes. Given that customer Windows Update (Windows 7 x 64 BTW) uses a database of local physics based on the logical sector size could play a role.

The solution I found was to replace the SATA driver installed by the last RAID Intel rapid storage driver. This corrected some WRT question for sector sizes THAT NTFS is reported to the operating system. And this fixed the problem of Windows Update. Since then, the machine can connect and get Windows updates from Microsoft Windows Update servers again.

Unfortunately, the fast RAID storage driver installation has not fixed the problem with the system update. Whenever I run the system update it invites me to machine type model, OS and language, and after that, I get the error message

"The server system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. »

When I use a second Thinkpad T61 or an old T40 at the same time and run the update system on these machines they are still able to connect and retrieve a list of available updates.

I know that I could solve the problem by returning to a 1 TB drive with the physical sector size of 512 bytes, or probably a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 hard disk WD.

So the obvious question is: is there anything else I could do?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling system update without success.

    Best regards

    Ralf

Hi, as I wrote in my first post I already tried your solution without success. System update was not even able to connect to the servers it is (or just showed this error for some reason any). However, I looked at the latest version of the update system released in October (v5.00.0019) and I have replaced v4.03.0012 with that one. And Yes - this time back to normal operation. Thus, TVSU v5 fixed somehow the problem even a never version v4 TVSU wasn't able to fix. The cause of this disorder is still unknown. Best regards, Ralf

  • Help! W500 dead. Is update system, restarted itself, makes 3 loud beeps and thats all!

I just changed my hard drive, stuck in a windows 7 cd, successfully installed. Chrome, dropbox and update system installed. Ran Lenovo update system and at one point the computer restarted itself, made three loud beeps (long followed by two short) and that's it.

The bluetooth led is on, as it is powered, battery and charger lamps. The screen is dead.

That's happened? What are these three beeps? What should I do?

It turns out that my new HDD is loose. Something must be done to ensure that it does not move.

I don't understand what it is. Given that it seems unique to the computer suggests you that it is malware.

Can you do a right click on the file and select Properties. Please provide the details of what you will find in particular a name or a description?
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\tgfncdrd. sys

Select Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, view, advanced settings and check the box in front of "show files and folders" and 'Hide protected operating system files' are unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second element. You should also make sure that the box before "Hide extensions of known file types" is not checked.

The CTRL (left) seems to be stuck in a way. Not like in the operating system that you are stuck where you cannot open stuff but physically. It works and everything, but when I press on the edge of the lower left there feeling like it won't go down any further. Now here's the thing
    I had the EXACT

Same problem with my ALT key on the top right corner, after hours and hours of press here and find good... The point 'G' {in this term well say it means good} button, who fixed it, but now I have it again with the CTRL key

and when you tilt your head to the level of keyboards and press gently on the left-hand side of the CTRL key, you will see the L. R left side down and the right side is not, but if I do it with another key to sound normal, balanced sound, pressing on anywhere will descend the whole key.

  • update system never worked

If anyone can help?  When I try workarounds all live upward.  went to downloads and each new driver creates problems.  How can I update my system?  Thank you.

I think you have misunderstood.  I was typing on a laptop so perhaps I was not as clear.  From the first day I bought my Lenovo 3000 N100 768 A52 Vista running the update system called Lenovo care program had never, ever have been beyond more than 25 percent of what she tried to do it before I got an error message indicates that there is an error, a problem that he could not continue and it wouldn't work.  When I wanted to see if them were new drivers update I went to Lenovo website and tried to download newer drivers like that and it's that damn system.  After trying to spend 6 months to get the laptop to come back I just put it on the shelf and forgotten.  A few months ago, I dug it and tried again to make it work again and played with thinkadvantage or what ever the rescue and recovery schedule it and that no longer works.  I tried to switch to XP pro and that has not worked.  But back on the shelf.  The other day when I turned it on and now Vista worked again.  But the fingerprint sensor does not work, the camera does not work and a full reload of the battery approximately twenty minutes.  Connect the adapter to the coherent power of means so I tried to run the update of the system, same problem.  Nothing works.  Is returned on the Lenovo site and tried to watch downloads and then began to read the forums and I seem to have a lot of the same questions that everyone has with updated drivers.  Except that my laptop broke down again.  It is also short and polite as I can tell.
