update to Media Center computer HP Pavilion a1323w

I had problems with my original computer HP Pavilion a1323w that my only change was to add a memory to handle the upgrade to Windows 7 last year.  More recently, I bought a HP 110-023w desktop with Windows 8 (now updated to 8.1), which has much better bios, etc., but has no built-in cd/dvd drivers, etc., which has the a1323w.  Is it possible to convert the a1323w into a version that is more comparable to the 110-023w at the operational level, speed, etc., but still provides the disk drivers, etc.?  How?  How much would it cost?

Welcome to the forum.

The short answer is, you will not be able to upgrade the computer to operate as the new computer.  It is simply old technology.  Maximum supported by the motherboard memory is 2 GB.  He's the weak link even with a discrete video card.  If you upgrade the video card, power supply (PSU) will also need to be upgraded.  With all these improvements, there will be still much slower.

Friday, April 8, 2011, I tried to do a 'Compaq 'full restore factory' "on my XP Media Center computer.

I tried to get SP3 for a SINGLE COMPUTER, as you explained in this article, (Article 322389 ID) by turning "updates automatic." One hundred updates "downloaded". Up to BUT NOT including SP3!

I think it's because he "worked" from the former "windows update site," not update.microsoft.com, telling me that I needed SP3 on my computer to go!

That's why I didn't see no choice but to download the stand-alone "SP3 for the professionals. In addition to the extra time much this added, it seemed to "wipe out" much of what was already on the computer.

1 is there still a way now to get the most appropriate for an SP3 computer?

2 How much time the owner of a working XP computer will be able to do a 'factory restore' on his computer and then return all the updates?

    Sincerely,

    > It seemed to "wipe out" much of what was already on the computer.

Since the installation of the SP3 do not destroy anything, please explain what you mean by that.
    > 1. Is it still possible now to get the most appropriate for an SP3 computer?
It has been my experience that this autonomous particular drop (WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3 - x 86 - ENU.exe) is the best to use. However, there is a good way to install, making sure Internet Explorer is still at the level of IE6 and no program of security antivirus or other is running at the time of installation. If you need step-by-step instructions, let me know.
    > 2. How long the owner of a working XP computer will be able to do a 'factory restore' on his computer and then return all the updates?
    Until April 2014.
When you have restored your Compaq to its original state, do you also all 'trialware' like Norton or McAfee programs?
Also know that some Compaqs and HPs (those who have AMD CPUs) must be changed before installing SP3. For more information:
  • What are the causes the limit 2 Gig Ram in m1170n Media Center computer?

What are the causes the limit 2 Gig Ram in m1170n Media Center computer? It can be corrected? Makes for a much slower PC than it could be. I can update only 1 3/4 Gig and yet it can begin.  I tried the bios update that is available on this site, but it doesn't seem to change anything. It would be much nicer I could date within the limits of the operating system. 4 GB. Don't know what I'll use this 4 PC yet, but this could be the deciding factor.

Here are the specifications of your HP Media Center m1170n desktop computer and its card mother PTGD1-(Puffer). Based on the specifications, this model has a maximum HP approved limit memory 4 GB (4 x 1 GB = 4 GB). The problem you are experiencing is perhaps due to incorrect memory modules, modules of memory defective or damaged, defective or damaged memorty slots or a very defective or damaged motherboard.

Run the available at startup BIOS Diagnostics or download "memtest86" and create a bootable media. Then, run the test on each module individually, in the same housing. If all modules pass, rerun the test... this time by adding an additional module... Repeat until all slots are filled and all modules of memory are used.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center m7580: HP Pavilion Media Center m7580n recovery disks

I have an old HP Pavilion m7580n Media Center, provided with Windows XP - I put it to update to Vista Ultimate (64-bit). I wish she were bacek to a very basic Windows OS XP, any suggestions? Do you think I can buy a new XP license, or can I use my product key for XP? I can't find any Revoery disc. ANY help would be appreicated - thank you.

    You are the very welcome.

You should have no problem with that, and your PC will run probably better, because a 64-bit operating system requires more memory and disk space to run a 32 bit OS only.

Given that your PC can take up to 4 GB of memory, there is no advantage to run an operating system to 64-bit on it.

    Hello

    Directly to the question:

I have a problem that of a regular windows media center update wake my computer from sleep every day.
This update can be found as a scheduled task in Task Scheduler. The problem is, that it cannot be edited or deleted.

If I try and edit the task by unchecking the choice of her "wake the computer to run this task", I get an error message:

An error has occurred for task mcupdate_scheduled. Error message: support for transactions in the specified resource manager is not started or has been closed because of an error

If I try and I remove the task completely, I get a similar error message:

I already tried the following suggestions to resolve this problem:

Fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\ cmd break-in.

  • Digital Cable Set Top Box connected to the Media Center computer, forced to keep MC on the use of channels 3-cant TV Guide in Media Center to record

I have to keep the center of the media on channel 3, and the decoder controls the channel I want to watch or record.  For example if I want to record channel 631 21:00 to 23:00 I would say the MC to record channel 3 for as many programs they broadcast between 9 and 23:00.  This process does not allow registration of the MC - guide as it was planned. I have to use the channels on the cable box only and always have the Media Center on channel 3. Is it possible to come back with the MC TV Guide and record by this guide as it was designed to do, while still using the cable set top box or some other Descrambler for replacement by the cable operator?  Basically, the decoder is a decoder which makes us put all our TV on channel 3.  But the cable ready TV I hear do not need the box, they can use another device.  The computer can do the same?  Nobody seems to have no answer to this problem.  Help!?

I read your question. I asked you what happened when running
TV Setup and specifically want to know if the TV Setup detected your set top
Box/decoder and it happened. If Media Center does not automatically detect your decoder,
have you tried the manual method to learn codes? I'm trying to help you

  • m7480n 5 years old HP media center computer

My five years, HP Media Center pm m7480n looks reving it's all the time.  I cleaned well and a tech put in a new power supply a few days ago.  I thought that the reving stop.  The CPU usage meter spikes up to 80% or down then goes back.  I don't think I'm running anything out of the ordinary.  I have a Bell Canada Internet security system.  Any thoughts of what might happen?  I am 58 years old, not very literate in computers.  Bonnie in St. Catharines, Ontario.  Thank you!

Hanspuppa, WOW, it worked, it really worked!   Thank you very much for me browsing to turn off the Indexing Microsoft (who asked for it anyway!).  Another that not having is not the "Run" command available (who took away?), but then research on where to find it and get back into my Start menu, worked all your instructions.

Thanks again, I am so grateful to have found this page.  My computer is not constantly the motor itself 110 miles in an hour and I don't feel I'm the kill by working it too hard.  The fan slowed down, the less high spikes and all is well.

  • Windows Media Center extender on my XBOX works initially, but not after reboot of my XBOX. Error: Failed to connect to the Xbox 360 could not connect to the windows Media Center computer.

It's VERY odd and very annoying!

I set up my laptop next to my Xbox 360 with an Ethernet cable directly connecting the laptop to the XBOX, and the laptop is on our wireless network. The XBOX has access to the internet (shared through the laptop), and when I test the PC connection and the connection XBOX Live sound fine to all.

So I'll try to set up Windows Media Center, it works great! I "Add Extender", put the code to 8 digits. It passes through the installation, all works, no problems and WMC opens on the XBOX, I can go into my library, watch movies etc... works great!

However! As soon as I turn my XBOX off and back on, it will fail to connect to the WMC.

He says his 'find Windows Media Center PC' which seems to work fine, it goes to the ' Windows Media Center loading screen "contact...". ", and after about 10 seconds, I get an error"failed to connect the Xbox 360 could not connect to windows Media Center PC. Make sure that the PC is turned on and connected to the network.

I tried to configure the Extender repeatedly, whenever it works fine until I restart the XBOX... :/ - and its strange cause I still the internet connection (shared through the laptop) after turning on the XBOX, its really JUST Media Center which is screwing around.

She continues to keep trying to connect then repeatedly fails.

If I wanted to, I could re-configuration the WMC Extender EVERY TIME turn off the Xbox, which works the first time without fault, but that's all just stupid.

I can't really understand what is happening here... any help would be appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion Media Center a1440: HP Pavilion Media Center a1440n Desktop PC ram compatibility upgrade

    Can I replace the ram (1 x pc-4200) original with 4 x1GB 240-pin DDR2 667 (PC2-5300) ECC SDRAM Desktop memory?

    Eastvanray, welcome to the forum.

This is memory that is supported by the motherboard:

    Four connectors DIMM DDR2 240-pin

    Supports PC2-3200 (400 MHz), PC-4200 (533 MHz) and PC-5300 (667 MHz) DDR DIMM

HP/Compaq approved maximum memory is 4 GB *.

Note: * actual available memory may be less

The memory that you want to install says it is ECC.  I think that the motherboard use more memory non - ECC.  Furthermore, I believe that your OS is 32-bit.  Therefore, only 3.25 GB of memory would be usable.
