HP woman desktop computer apparently hung during a Windows Update. A few hours later, she she turned off.  Now it does not start until after the blue HP screen.  I tried to boot from a backup CD, but nogo.  Cannot do anything on the blue HP screen (boot, diagnostics, etc.).  What are my options for the system restore?

    Thank you

    {Information}

Shut down the system. Just unplug the tower including the power cord. Press and hold the power for 10 seconds. Reconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, & power. Make sure that there is no cd/dvd in the drive.

Restart the system by pressing F8

You should get a screen that has advanced startup options

  • Automatic update failed, and Windows does not start

I am running Windows 7 and it does not start. Automatic update started as soon as my computer is awakened from his sleep. It closed several programs. The update had completed 30% when he stopped to restart the computer. As windows began, I got a blue screen message telling me that it didn't start. I tried to restore the system at two different times, but both failed. I'm not sure that I can do.

How do access you the system restore?
If through the repair of this selection of the computer in the Safe Mode menu - have you tried to use the Safe Mode?  If so, what happened?

  • Pavilion p7-1040nl: the BIOS update gone wrong; PC does not start.

Hi, I tried to update my BIOS yesterday, but in the middle of doing so, there was a short cut (what are the chances right?). If the update is not good. And now my pc won't start at all. At the beginning until you get 8 beeps, the hard drive of fans, etc. seem to start, but there is NO video signal and the pc does not continue to start. So I can't even in the BIOS menu, because the monitor remains in sleepmode.
I tried all the fixes I have found here and on other sites without success. Do you have the cmos pass the thing, disconnected all the pieces one by one, tried to boot with the USB with the BIOS on this subject, but still nothing.
Does anyone know what anyone else I can try? Or should I accept that my pc is over?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

Have you tried clearing the COMS as in the instaructions on the document next to the motherboard web?

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02668523

I recommend to remove the CMOS battery while the cmos clear. Hold the power button for five seconds while the rider is on the position unequivocally @.

If it does not, then it's time for a new source desktop PC.

  • Update of Windows Vista does not start - remains just white

I have a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium installed. I have updated the computer with windows updates by using the Windows Update tool.
However, it has stopped working and I can no longer get updates or visit the update page.  I know that there are updates to install but when I open windows update, the schedule is displayed but there is nothing in it.  That is to say: in the browser bar, it says: > Control Panel > Windows Update, but the window is otherwise empty and nothing loads.  I have no error messages.  I tried to close the program, but it does not and I have to close it using Task Manager.  I also rebooted the computer several times and tried to leave for an hour or two, but still nothing happens.

How can I update my computer?  or even reinstall windows update?  I think that the program is may be defective...

    Hello Christopher,

I'm sorry that you have problems with your Windows Update. It takes a little the pleasure of having a new computer isn't?

Try a few bugs, starting with the easiest:

In the Vista Start Menu Search Bar, type run and press ENTER.

Then, type the following, one after the other and click OK after each.

    regsvr32 jscript
    regsvr32 vbscript
    regsvr32 /i mshtml

I hope it will work for you. If this isn't the case, you can try the following:

Note: The following assumes that you have, or have access to the
original Vista 32 - bit .iso or can otherwise use the file
in the .iso image file install.wim.

    1. place the original Vista .iso image file on your hard drive.
    2 extract the iso install.wim.
    3. extract all the files from c:\windows\system32\wu*.* install.wim.
    4. place all the excerpts wu *. files in their own folder, for example, C:\wu for
    later use.
    5. run start, all programs, accessories. Right click on command prompt
and click on run as administrator.
    6. go to your System32 directory.
    7. to replace current wu *. files in the System32 directory.
you will need to first ownership of each of them as follows:
Run: takeown /f "path and name ' [note: I ran this command for]
each of the wu *. [* files, one at a time]
    then
Run: cacls 'path and file name' / g : F
    8. replace all the wu *. files using those c:\wu
9 save each of the original wu*.dlls in System32 - for example
    (regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll)
    10. reboot
11 place Windows Update in manual mode as a test and run it.

If please post here and let us know if this helped.

  • After auto update installed, Windows Vista does not start

    Individuals:
Windows Vista Home Premium w/Service Pack 1 installed
    Dell Studio 1737, 64-bit

    Problem:
Earlier this week (I think it's the 16th), my computer has installed an automatic Windows Update and restarted.  When she came back to the top, it says Windows could not start and asked if I would so he can try to restore the operating system to a previous point in time or if I try to restart Windows.  I tried to start Windows again (this time with my fingers crossed), but got the same message.  So I went for the #1 option and after half an hour, or so, I got a new error.  To be honest with you, I have seen so many mistakes in the last week, I don't remember exactly what he said, but I wanted to go to the advanced options, where I could choose a restore point manually.  I have put back to point restoration 6/15 and had no problem getting Windows to start.  Unfortunately... Windows REALLY asks me to install this update so at 03:00, after spending at least an hour and a half on the issue, he did an update automatic, rebooted and Windows wouldn't start again.  So, again, I am through the whole process (it's the only way I found to manually choose a restore point) and me to start Windows.  Then I disabled the automatic update in the hope that I could skip this update.  However... Windows has put the updates to install every time I put it in mode 'sleep'.  You can see where I'm going with this.  Now, any time my computer stops for some reason, Windows refuses to restart.  To make matters worse, the last time I had to go through this process, for some reason any he would not support up to 15 and I had to try again and it backwards until the 13th.  Please help me!

You did little to restore the system.

Hide this particular update, if you do not need!

Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

    1. a System Restore to before the updates:

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

System restore steps according to the info above.

    Also:

    2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it

    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".

When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.

    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it

  • Update to El Capitan: does not start

I did a clean install of El Capitan on my MacBook Air and transferred all my apps, files, settings etc. of Time Machine. After some initial difficulties to obtain the user account to work (I've done something in users and groups, but can not remember what exactly), all executed perfectly. I closed, come to the office and restarted, only to be confronted with a blue screen and nothing else. I was in Disk Utility first aid and everything seems in good condition it. I am at a loss. • Satellite A100-920 - after updating the BIOS, it does not start

    Hi all

I've updated the BIOS of my laptop to V6.0 (excerpt from the Toshiba site) then Windows XP and it went well, then Setup wanted to restart the PC.
But restarts, he won't have in the startup process. I can not access the start menu, or anything else by clicking F2 or F12. But could go the detailed process by clicking on escape. And there I see the following messages:

    Phoenix TrustedCore (TM)
    V6.0
    Version.Mak - r1.53
detects the dual core [email protected]

No TPM or TPM has problem.
    1023 M system RAM passed

    And that's all.
I can not get older versions of BIOS, and I couldn't find the version of the version 6.0 update that I could put on a CD for an another BIOS update.

Anyone has an idea on what is wrong? And if you find that it's to do with version 6.0 and I need a previous version, please could you send me the installation files that are necessary to do the update via a CDROM.

    Thanks for your help.

It is unclear to me that you can do the BIOS update using CDROM. The BIOS updates are designed to be done under operating systems. Old traditional updates have been a little different.

In any case, it seems that the BIOS chip is damaged. I can imagine this downgrade can help but where to find the old version. I know you can get it from the authorized service provider. they have access to the database of Toshiba and they can download the old version of the BIOS.

The download page is just the latest version available.

  • Update causing the computer does not start...

I downloaded the last windows update last night and now my computer will not boot even upward... to have to borrow another computer to try to find an answer!  I don't know even what updates have been downloaded, because I did it just before closing down.  I have Windows Vista 64-bit. What should I do?

    mizchevas01,
As Paviro suggested, you should try to start in Safe Mode.  If you are able to do it then you can try a system restore to an earlier date updates.  So, I suggest that you install the updates one at a time (make a note of which one, you install every time) and see if the problem occurs again.  If you know one that has the problem and this will help solve the problem.
You should also check that all your drivers are up-to-date.  You should go to the website of the hardware manufacturer to obtain the latest drivers. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
