  Computer laptop ASUS-Lamborghini (Intel Core Duo CPU, T7700 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 32 bit OS), Vista Ultimate SP2 running. Running "Windows Firewall with advanced security" and "Microsoft ForeFront Client Security" Vista came pre-installed. The computer CD/DVD drive laptop port in heavy (failure) for two years. Problems with some updates unfinished started around January 2010.

  PROBLEM:

  Some updates consistently fail to install, after installation or after a reboot of the system immediately (at startup, installation of step 3 ends with a message "updates are not configured properly"). Immediate errors are 8007371 C failure to update after restart get the error 80070003.

  ACTIONS:

  -I went through the reset Windows Update process (FixIt50202 | http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058) both in normal and aggressive mode

  -I went through the process of removing any potential scanner from McAfee (MCPR.exe | http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507)

  -Ran ' sfc.exe/scannow"with a return that some errors have been found, no possibility to correct mistakes. Extraction of string "[SR] cannot repair military record" has led to no success. (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;929833&x=5&y=9). Audit ran up to 26% and returned the message "Windows Resource Protection found a few corrupt files but was unable to solve some of them. Read the cbs.log newspaper, it seems that these errors relate to unfinished Windows updates.

  -J' ran CheckSUR (KB947821 | http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;947821&x=14&y=10), but "patch has not been installed - error 9380001.

  [...] However, the problem is not not downloading, but it's the installation later. Some return immediately with a failed installation (80070003) and others fail to install after the required reboot of Vista (8007371C).

  A repair install is the usual solution of SFC/scannow does not work.
  However, a repair (AKA In-Place Upgrade) installation will be not solve the problem if it is due to a hijackware infection.

  Method 2 (do not hold account of the article refers to the error code, I only use it as an example of how repair installation).

  NB: If you have installed SP1 or SP2 for Vista

  Step 7 (method for Windows Vista), the * UPGRADE option is not available because Service Pack/s are installed and that your operating system is newer than the system you are trying to reinstall, so service pack/s must be removed in this case.

  If you want Office 2007 updates to appear in the installed updates again, you would need to uninstall/reinstall Office 2007 and install all the updates again.

  Assuming that Office 2007 is installed & working properly and no update is offered when you run a manual check for updates now, you might want to leave enough alone (that is, do nothing) - then see if the 2 updates for Office 2007 SP3 be released next Tuesday (a) receive, (b) successfully install and (c) are listed in the installed updates later.

  PS: The possible causes of the problem are messing with registry cleaners, messing around with the Software Distribution folder, and the fact that it was a computer refurbished when you bought it.

  I suggest that you check your system for corrupted files.  You use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files.  To do this, follow these steps:

  1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, clickStart, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

  2. type the following command and press ENTER:

  sfc/scannow

  The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  I came across Best Buy, bought the first thing I have seen & to the left. It's just the small things. My main PC is myPC music recording studio (never online) so for my this, that I bought... I don't care.

  A LOT of these updats were on UPDATE SP2 which was on my computer when I bought it, but they do not work...

  Others have to do with the "compatibility issues" for 32-bit web sites.

  .. and yes my stuff Adobe, Flash and Java are all kept up-to-date too.  Please keep in mind, I know how to get to these files support and update history and try to update manually and with each of them, the research questions and check forums, so I spend a lot of time doing this.  A lot of information is not new.

  Hello, I run the servers at my work, and systems are 64-bit.  It would be just that sometimes your system needs to do things differently running 32-bit.  Not sure why they choose to divide them, but that's how it is on my servers.

• Windows Vista will not install new updates after installing SP2

  Hi, I have a problem with the update of my windows. It started after a fact a factory reset. Here's the history:

  I have a some what old laptop (8 years). It came with a Vista installed with service pack 1 installed at the factory. Over the years, I did a few factory resets (every 2-3 years). I never had problems up to now. What is happening now is that I can not exceed SP2. I tried two different ways, none of them worked. After the reset, I first uninstall a bunch of stupid programs that came with the laptop, and then defragment and then have two ways to proceed. I tried to use windows update, installed more than 100 updates, updates install held until finally I offered service Pack2, installed successfully but then no more updates were offered. Then I tried a different approach - a new reset, uninstall, Defrag, and then downloaded and installed SP2 directly from the Download Center. And again the same thing happens. From the SP2 installation I check updates, download the new update agent and nothing happens after that. He keeps looking for new updates all day (about 50% of the processor by using all the time).

  I read some articles and discussions but could not find anyone with the same problem (most of the users reported some error codes which is something I can't do). I tried the fix tool - it does nothing! Whenever I run it, it is mistakes - sometimes 2, sometimes up to 5. Sometimes, it makes account all fixed, other times that it reports missing or corrupt files do not set. Whatever the results if I restart and when I try to check for updates again it is still the same story.

  Also I tried to install it manually IE9 as soon as SP2 is installed (I understand that this is not supported under SP1) but the installation fails. I expected to be available in updates, but as I don't get updates I tried to install it myself. Not sure if it's related (although I guess it is), but the Defender is not able to verify new definitions either.

  Any suggestions? Maybe the registry is damaged or some of the files using the update agent is are corrupt? There are currently no antivirus program installed that could block whatever it is. I haven't touched Windows Firewall somehow everything must therefore be attributed to the default values.

  You understand is that? I came across exactly the same problem... restoration of an old book to give to a family member, and every time I came to the point of installing SP2 and a more recent windows update agent just after, I couldn't install more updates. It would block 'check updates' forever. Tried twice, same problem. However, I tried some things differently the third time and exceeded the question.

  Let me know if you still need help, and I will respond with what I've done.

  If you have a Vista without SP1 and 2, DO NOT listen to Microsoft technicians and use auto update / windows update / microsoft update (until after you have installed SP1 & SP2).

  My recent experience and other posts, it won't work.  Manually download Vista SP1 and SP2 for Vista and install manually (SP1 first).  I lost hours with updates auto that I didn't need and made a mess.

  I just made a custom cleaning of a perfectly fine using a DVD of Vista Utilmate XP machine.

  After installation, he made the automatic updates ~ 106 and is now stuck on Vista SP1.

  I have just downloaded maually SP1 and SP2 machine, try to install, but MS it not recommended to some BS something and I would give them $189.  I was hoping someone might have an idea on how to get the auto update function to work to see if my manual Visat SP1 and SP2 (extract from the official MS site) may work 1.  MS supports was no other real help that they suggested to purchase Windows 7 at Wal-Mart, but I don't think that the old machine is worth 86 dollars.  They shouldn't tell you online they will be support for vista until 2017, then try to charge you once you've invested time in it.  They can even do it on purpose (not technicians, but the management).

  Hi guys, sorry for the long post, but I'll give as much detail that good I hope to get a positive result.

  I can not install the security update (KB978207) and get this message "some updates have not been installed security for Windows (KB978207) "

  I did the following

  1A tried to update manually with my disabled antivirus avast
  2 tried to uninstall manually after a clean boot
  3. downloaded and run microsoft Mr. Fix it
  4. I ran a few newspapers and displayed in a PC Tech Forum, I uninstalled a few unwanted files via Avenger that may have caused this error... no luck
  5. I used malwarebytes and nothing found
  6. I used HostsXpert and restored MS Hosts File.
  7. after sending a Windows Update of my recent activity log, it looks like a 3rd driver could be the cause of the problem, but I don't have a clue that one was the answer.

  I have no idea what to do at this point, I feel a little out of my depth now and have never had an update fails before.

• KB975051 updates and KB976882 will not install on Windows Vista. They are Office and Outlook 2003. Anyone else having the same problem?

  Tried several times.  Windows Update keeps prompting me to install but it fails every time.

  I was finally able to solve the problem of not being able to update KB975051 and KB976882 by taking the following measures:
  In Google I typed in 'the kb976882 will not be installed.  Under options, I got "Download Details: update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk...» "the site of Microsoft.com/downloads.  I downloaded from this site and then also picked KB975051 on other popular choice located lower on the page and done the same thing.  I don't remember this solution being a few days ago.
  I hope you find that this approach works for you as well.  Ignore the entrance of miss under my name as proposed in another comment response.  I have missunderstood as a way to comment on...

• Windows Vista drivers not install ALL or update of new pilots

  About two weeks ago, I had a problem with my computer marketing and don't not loading Windows. He gave me the option to start Windows normally or repair of launch Windows. I tried to run normally and windows still only would be not loaded correctly, so the next time the computer is started, I launched the Windows repair instead.

  Now, I didn't know what was wrong, so I tried to ask for help with material assistance and Paretologic PC Health Advisor and they are quite a few outdated drivers and asked if I wanted that they find new updated drivers, I agree.  And he again... the SAME EXACT PROCESS I HAVE INDICATED above. It will not install the drivers again and it will not install updates for all drivers more.

  Also, in OTHER DEVICES under Device Manager, there are unknown devices that have yellow exclamation points by them as well. Apparently I'm missing these devices now, and I have right clicked on it and select Update driver software. RESEARCH then AUTOMATICALLY update DRIVER SOFTWARE.   Here are all THE drivers I've tried to update via WINDOWS UPDATE INSTALLATION. I tried to install them manually, by going to my DEVICE MANAGER and still nothing.

  About two weeks ago, I had a problem with my computer marketing and don't not loading Windows. He gave me the option to start Windows normally or repair of launch Windows. I tried to run normally and windows still only would be not loaded correctly, so the next time the computer is started, I launched the Windows repair instead.

  Later, I tried to save my Blackberry smartphone on my Blackberry Desktop Software program (which has been on my computer since I bought it 01/05/2009. But it does not recognize the hardware. So I plugged back it it and it began to automatically search for the driver (Driver Installation Program). It says install software device driver and he's looking for preconfigured driver folders. Of waiting for the user to input and gives me the choice: 1) locate and install driver software (recommended) (2) Ask me 3 again later.) Do not show this message for this device. I choose option 1 and it gives a message, DEVICE DRIVER installation of MICROSOFT WINDOWS SOFTWARE and I support on continue. It gives the message: SEARCHING WINDOWS UPDATE, WINDOWS UPDATE DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING the DRIVER SOFTWARE. Then a message saying: Windows encountered a problem installing the software driver for your device. Windows found driver software for your device, but it has encountered an error trying to install it. He also says: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

  Now, I didn't know what was wrong, so I tried to ask for help with material assistance and Paretologic PC Health Advisor and they are quite a few outdated drivers and asked if I wanted that they find new updated drivers, I agree.  And he again... the SAME EXACT PROCESS I HAVE INDICATED above. It will not install the drivers again and it will not install updates for all drivers more.

  So now when I go into the DEVICE MANAGER there are several yellow exclamation points next to the items (I've NEVER seen before). I can't update these drivers:

  1.) NVIDIA nForce 5/6/7 set of pilots in series, which includes NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management and NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller

  2. display drivers) laptop NVIDIA including NVIDIA GeForce 8200 M G

  3.) Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b/g WiFi adapt

  Realtek USB 2.0 card reader 4)

  Also, in OTHER DEVICES under Device Manager, there are unknown devices that have yellow exclamation points by them as well. Apparently I'm missing these devices now, and I have right clicked on it and select Update driver software. RESEARCH then AUTOMATICALLY update DRIVER SOFTWARE. She is looking for some time, and he said ENCOUNTERS A PROBLEM INSTALL THE DRIVER for YOUR WINDOWS DEVICE

  Now, whenever I turn on my computer, it does an automatic search of an unknown device.

• Windows update error 800706BA do not install updates!

  I have recently upgraded to windows 7 Home Edition of Vista. For the last week, I tried to install the updates through the Windows Update program, and everytime I try, it starts to install, but also its about to end it stops and comes with the window "some updates were not installed" don't install all new updates to day and it gives the error code 800706BA which is an "unknown" error I tried to install the updates from the Download Center, and they do not as well. It's infuriating and I have no idea what to do to get the updates to install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I think your best bet would be to safeguard any staff data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this stage) can do a format and clean install of Windows 7, James.

  After installed cleaning, need you the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting otherwise the machine to the internet or a network and before using a key USB that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:
