Updating of the computer erased my favorites, help!

OK, I had a problem with my computer a few days ago and we tried refreshing the computer. Now, when he said that he would 'Apps' we had no idea Mozilla was considered as an application. So now four months of bookmarks as well as my tabs of the Manager of the season have disappeared. Can someone tell me if the data was saved somehow, and he's hiding on my computer somewhere please?

The usual kind of refreshment on recent versions of Windows moves data in your applications in this folder:

C:\Windows.old\

You will find this file? If so, can you find the folder:

C:\Windows.old\Users\your username

If so, your old given Firefox might be in there. To explore more, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

Then search for:

Your username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\

Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably the one you want to restore from.

Bookmarks only

Go down the old bookmarkbackups folder and copy the last two backups in a location such as the desktop.

The restore feature will replace the bookmarks in Firefox by default (and what you added since the reset) with all like bookmarks. If you want preserve newly added bookmarks, use the first, export function before the restore, then the import function later. The following articles have details:

Success?

Complete restoration

This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect your old wide profile in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

    Hello Barby,

The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe . When the Windows NT kernel detects that or the other of these processes has stopped, it shuts down the system and triggers the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes. Among them are the following:

  • Update causing the computer does not start...

I downloaded the last windows update last night and now my computer will not boot even upward... to have to borrow another computer to try to find an answer!  I don't know even what updates have been downloaded, because I did it just before closing down.  I have Windows Vista 64-bit. What should I do?

    mizchevas01,
As Paviro suggested, you should try to start in Safe Mode.  If you are able to do it then you can try a system restore to an earlier date updates.  So, I suggest that you install the updates one at a time (make a note of which one, you install every time) and see if the problem occurs again.  If you know one that has the problem and this will help solve the problem.
You should also check that all your drivers are up-to-date.  You should go to the website of the hardware manufacturer to obtain the latest drivers. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

    Hello

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

You can use the solutions in this KB - 3 methods and I listed a little help for them below

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to
install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

You can also do a safe mode startup repair to access the Recovery Options If you have them available
or use the DVD as described above.

    Try recovery options Startup Repair

Method 2: Start the system in safe mode and then use the system restore feature

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

You can also do a restore of the system of starting with a Vista disk.

Method 3: Rename the Pending.xml file, and then change the registry (this method is part of the advanced troubleshooting)

    See article below for that.

You can use this method on the updates that have this problem.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358

Hide the update (click right - HIDE in the updates of Windows) and go to the Microsoft Download Center to download
    and install it.

  • I keep getting error messages of dll since update to the computer.

I get 2 dll error messages and do not know how to fix them.  They are afuhepalamutivo.dll and ater71.dll.  My computer recently updated and I have been see it since.  I don't know what kind of program is originally the proplem but I can't access the internet on this computer. Tried to restore and it worked for a few days, but then started doing it again (after the Auto-setting machine again).

    Hello

change how to get updates for you to choose what you install to stop it happening again

You may need to install one at a time to find the problem, we

Make sure that you do not use Windows Update to install the drivers of 3rd material part

Find them directly in the hardware manufacturer

and when you see the problem update right click on it - UAC prompt - then hide it

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

  • Windows updates break the computer

I have Windows 7 and it did its updates during the shutdown and departure to the top of the computer. But this time there not even to get to the part at the start when applying updates, it just went to Windows Startup Repair. He has done this before, but it Startup Repair has done a good job of fixing any problem and I can use the computer again. This time, however, I rebooted the computer times 6 or 7 after that Startup Repair has "solved" the problem. Nothing has changed and the computer goes to startup repair. I tried to start windows normally, but he gets a fraction of the way through the bios before restarting the computer.

Do a system repair disc (CD) on another computer of Windows 7 to the same number of bits (32 Vs 64) operating

Start the system on CD repair system.  It will offer repair options that might work.

  • I can't synchronize my new iPad with iTunes on my computer.  All software has been updated, but the computer always tells me to update iTunes on the iPad software. Any suggestions on how to get them in sync?

I can't synchronize my new iPad with itunes on my computer.  Both had all put software up to date.  The computer continues to tell me it cannot sync and I need to update software on the iPad.  Any suggestions on where to go next?

  • Apps - update necessary to update on the computer?

Update of applications through iTunes on my Windows Vista PC is incredibly slow.  I have been updating of applications on the computer and on my devices (iPhone and iPad 6plus 4 on IOS 9.1.3, iPhone 4 on IOS 7.1.2) update directly to a device seems to be faster.  Constanting update applications directly on the computer and each device seems an unnecessary duplication of effort.

Is it necessary to update the applications on the computer?  If applications on devices are maintained directly on the devices, only applications on the computer updated when I do a sync?

However, I guess if I have only updated the applications on the computer, applications on the devices would probably be updated when I synced and it would save me download the upgraded several times (for each device separately) applications.  However, the update via iTunes on the computer is so slow, I think I still prefer making updates directly to each device, even if it's multiple downloads.

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

    Here's the breakdown.

    1. the new iOS supports "App thinning."

When you download directly from a device while resources (size images, screen resolutions,...) which are used on this device are downloaded.

The application downloaded for example on an iPhone 5 has no resources for other Apple devices (iPhone 6, iPhone 6, with mini iPad, iPad...)

One of the reasons for the download is faster because it is smaller

    2. applications using the computer to download iTunes have all the necessary resources for all the supported devices when you synchronize.

It is also a backup in case the developer pulled the app on the app store then you will not be able to re - download from the app store.
