Windows updates break the computer

I have Windows 7 and it did its updates during the shutdown and departure to the top of the computer. But this time there not even to get to the part at the start when applying updates, it just went to Windows Startup Repair. He has done this before, but it Startup Repair has done a good job of fixing any problem and I can use the computer again. This time, however, I rebooted the computer times 6 or 7 after that Startup Repair has "solved" the problem. Nothing has changed and the computer goes to startup repair. I tried to start windows normally, but he gets a fraction of the way through the bios before restarting the computer.

Do a system repair disc (CD) on another computer of Windows 7 to the same number of bits (32 Vs 64) operating

Start the system on CD repair system.  It will offer repair options that might work.

If this does not work, you will probably be in more drastic measures.  Let know us and we can make suggestions.  We need to know things like make and model, age, type: laptop or desktop and more details that will help.

  • Windows Update breaks the connection to the Internet screen Windows 8 start

At the start of a newly refreshed State, if I install an update from Windows Update or driver, my screen Windows 8 start apps can connect is the Internet. My desktop connection continues to connect to the Internet just fine.

I have goes back to the fact that my active network is deleted. The newly refreshed State presents a public network in the network and sharing Center under "view your active networks. I can then change for private and create a homegroup, if I want to. After an update has a happy ending, this active network gets blown away and he said: "You are currently not connected to all the networks."

How to fix this State without update Windows and how can I keep Windows Update to do this in the future?

OK guys, I also had the same problem. I messed around with my PC for about 3 weeks and I found the solution for me.

Is the internet connection marked as connection from home or at work. I changed mine public (charm > setting > connection > right click on the active connection > turn sharing or disable > No, (for the network in public place.)

    Hope this helps you all.

  • Update Windows automatically restarts the computer. I would like to disable this feature.

Update Windows automatically restarts the computer. I would like to disable this feature. I'm running a machine business with complex projects requiring a configuration long and delicate. The details below:
Type of operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate
Problem: Status of the project lost after auto restart during the night
Require: A method of disabling automatic restart after an automatic update is happening.
Tried: I already tried looking in the registry for an appropriate key change, but no have been found appropriate.

    Aelryn,
You can configure Windows update to meet your needs, for example, download the update and then let me choose when to install the same. This way you always get the automatic updates but you chose when and where and how to install updates at a time that is convenient.

Then I suggest to change the Automatic Updates settings to meet the needs of PAHO.

Choice, you can turn off to THE (not recommended), you can adjust to download updates only and allow you to install them at a convenient time, you can adjust information only, or you can leave to do what he likes.

If you update, you must restart sometime in the case otherwise you are not protected and you might as well do not update at all. Everything is a matter of choice. One size does not fit all, so a choice can be made. I have updates informed me only, then I decide what, when and how to do to install the updates. It's my choice.

    Hello world

Played with the 2 black of Lenovo for a few days now and I live the boring problems.

I did about 3 x cooling system so far and on my 4th I'm typing this...

I don't know the exact origin of the problem, but I don't know that one of the windows update break sensors causing its functioning and the breakdown of some features.

    • Accelorometer works at startup, disable and re-enable the sensor in the Device Manager.
    • Try using the search or the PC in Metro UI settings feature freezes the tablet.

With each update, I made sure that no update driver is selected, but that doesn't seem to help.

And the most annoying part is refreshing that the tablet takes forever... (2-3 h)

    Hi bonnie563,

What antivirus or firewall is installed on the computer?

Follow these steps to solve the problem.

Method 1: Solving problems run Windows Update

Windows 7 comes with a built-in utility to update problems. Run it and see what has to say. He makes sure your computer is connected to the Internet and checks to see if your network card and Windows Update services are running properly.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

Method 2: Temporarily disable the firewall or a third-party antivirus software

If you have any third-party firewall/antivirus, disable all and just keep the built-in firewall of Windows when downloading updates. See if this allows you to perform the download.

Warning This workaround may make a computer or a network more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. We do not recommend this solution to workaround but are providing this information so that you can implement this workaround at your own discretion solution. Use this workaround at your own risk.

To disable the third-party firewall, see the documentation provided with the program or contact the program vendor.

Method 3: Turn off Accelerator software

Disable any software accelerator programs that may be running. Some examples of these programs are file download accelerators and Internet speed accelerators.

Method 4: Journal see Windows Update

By default, the Windows Update client records all transaction information in the following log file:

    %WINDIR%\WindowsUpdate.log

If the methods above does not resolve the issue, view the log file for more investigations.

For help on the log file, see: How to read the Windowsupdate.log file

Note: Runs the computer without antivirus software or firewall is a potential threat to the computer; don't forget to activate the security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after you have identified the problem.

  • Windows Update froze my computer

My Windows XP pro service pack 3 Auto turned into a brick.  (IE8)  I finally used in June 2013, and it worked very well.  On October 12, 2013 I turned it on and it does nothing.  The problem was caused by something that happened when the aircraft attempted to do the automatic update of Windows.  I managed to open the Task Manager and saw the CPU pegged at 100%.  The culprit was one of the svchost file.  So then I used the utility windows Explorer process to identify and disable the problem, which was windows update file.  With the windows update file stopped, the machine works normally.  I tried to make the windows manually update and had no success.  The cpu went to 100% and the machine froze.  I left it on all night, looking for updates and the morning revealed that he had tried to install an update, but the installation failed.  I'm guessing that some update issued between June and October 12 is the cause.  Can anyone give me some ideas on how to correct the problem, other than leaving the updates turned off.

Hallelujah! I have my computer back.  Here's what I had to do.

    1. I did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro (not a repair, but I formatted the hard drive first).
2 installed service pack 2 on a drive that I had, but it is available on the web, if you're looking for.
3 installed the service pack 3 on the web (do a search found).
4 tried to do the Windows updates, but could not. Kept getting error 0x8024D001.  So I did a search on this error message and found that I needed to install an update from Windows Update version. I found this one installed it.  Here's where I got it from.

    5. the new program Windows Update worked and I was off to the races. Must have been at least 200 updates. Had to reboot and run Windows update several times to get all the. But in the end, I have the machine is working back again.
Hope this helps some of you people who are tearing your hair because the Windows updates turned your computer into a brick.

    Hi Pam,.

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community.

You have a problem with the installation of an update on the computer. It can be difficult when something that is important to you does not work as expected. It's pretty simple and we're here to help you solve the problem. We work as a team and get this sorted out.

    Please answer these questions-

    (1) what is the exact error message?

    (2) you are able to install other updates on the computer?

    (3) have you made changes on the computer before the show?

I would like more information about the issue.

    Method 1-

Note: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Back up the registry - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry

Method 1 and 2 require changes need to be made in the register. You must back up the registry before you proceed.

  • I am sure that I have sirefef and I can't start the firewall, windows update or the center of security.

Hello, I'm sure that my computer is infected with a sirefef, I want to know if there is a free way to get rid of it, I ran so many antivirus scanners and malware/rootkit software and is not fixed. When I try to start the firewall, he says that he is unable to make these requests, Windows Update said the service could not be started, and says Security Center of service could not be started. Hi Brendan,

Let's see the article ""failed Windows updates Setup. " Restoration of the changes. "Do not turn off your computer" error when you try to install the Windows updates "and check if we get a fix for the problem.

    Hello

    1. when exactly you get this error message?

2 are you able to boot into the office after getting this error on blue screen?

    3. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try to start your system in safe mode and check if the same problem occurs.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 2 : If the question does not exist in Mode safe mode then try to put your computer in a clean boot state.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 3: If the problem persists, then try to run the Startup Repair tool.

Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as system files missing or damaged that may prevent Windows from starting correctly. When you run the Startup Repair, it scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.
