Upgrade memory type

The manual Maitenace for my record of 17 t - 3200 Evny, in a field that I can only use of 1333 MHz by improving my memory up to 16 GB; However, in another area, it says that I can use eith 1333 or 1600 MHz.  This is correct?  I'm trying to take advantage of the Cyber week price, so a quick response would be appreciated!

Hello:

You can use either, but look what processor you have in Notepad (product card don't tell me what I need to know).

Now look at Chapter 1 page 1 of repair.

If your processor is one of the reasons mentioned with a 1600 MHz FSB, then you want to buy memory PC3-12800 (1600 MHz).

If your processor is one of the reasons mentioned with a 1333 MHz FSB then the memory will only work at 1333 MHz, even if you buy the 1600 MHz memory.

The maintenance manual also seems a bit confused about the amount of memory you can install based on the speed of the memory.

Supports up to 16384-GB of RAM @ 1333 MHz, supports up to 8192-GB of system RAM

@ 1600 MHz,

Supports the following configurations:

16384 MB total system memory (8192 × 2 @ 1600 and 1333 MHz)

I do not see why the memory speed would have an impact on the amount of memory you can install.

Processors and chipsets to determine the amount of memory they can handle and how much speed they can handle.

  • HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1000en: upgrading memory on ENVY 4-1000en

    Hello

Since I have some basic computer knowledge, but I want to be sure before you go for it, I need your advice.

I have a HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1000en and I have recently upgraded to HDD and the OS.

I think the upgrade of RAM have, as far as I know that you need 2 memories of the same type, so I guess I can't buy an another 4 GB right?

Do I need 2 x 4 GB of DDR3 memory, of the same type to make it work? For example they would work very well

    http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-8gb-high-performance-sodimm-memory-upgrade-kit-cmsx8gx3m2a1600c9 ?

Finally the upgrade memory requires any other configuration after plugin in? Is a format for example?

    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

The following link shows the specifications of your computer:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03362810

It has 4 GB of RAM now. The question is 4 GB in a dwelling or in the two slots (2 + 2).

b in the case of a home, you can just buy another 4GB with SAME part/characteristics of the EXISTING RAM and install in the second slot.

    (b) if in 2 slots (IE 2 + 2), then throw them both and buy 2 new sticks 4 GB each. Agin use even care.

You don't need to format RAM. Moreover, we have only to format HDD/SSD but not RAM. And Yes, push in the two slots must be same same specs even marks to be able to get all the benefits.

    Kind regards.

  • Portege 3500 - upgrade memory

Necessary upgrade memory for a p3500. 'Expert' advised two sticks of 512 MB PC133, but on opening the rear of the location that a laptop computer and on the insertion of the new RAM it gives an error code beep. Is there than a single slot? and if so what maximum capacity and what type of RAM will it take?

    Hi Jeffrey,.

As far as I know the 3500 Series provided with a removable module of RAM of 128 MB, 256 MB or 512 MB depending on what model and specifications you purchased. There is one other remaining slot for expansion purposes.

The total support for the 3500 Series RAM is 2 GB and the type of RAM should be SODIMM PC133 144 pins.

It is important that you match the RAM modules that your RAM module existing (one removable) is of the same type you new RAM module. Of course, you can always delete the original from the RAM and insert two new modules of RAM instead.

Could you please inform me about the type of memory has this laptop?
On the site it is said:
    Standard system memory: 256 MB
    maximum scalability: 2 048 MB

    DDR2?
A link with such a memory would be very useful.
Also, anyway to buy memory online?

    Hello

The news that you are quite right. Toshiba has tested this laptop with the memory modules to follow:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)

As you can see it's memory module DDR2 and if you use the part (PA.) to the Google number, you will find many online offereor where you can order this tested memory. I recommend buying the original or perhaps module of Kingston. On this way, you will be sure that the new module will be recognized correctly.

    Good luck!

  • Upgrade memory 4 GB on Satellite A200-23W

    Hello
I asked Toshiba service here in Greece upgrade memory than my A200 23W and they buy a 2 GB memory module (I noticed that there was no need for 2 because there was that one module in this topic but anyway...).

I did and installed the new memory, but since than, in the information system, I can only see this:

    2.01 GB available physical memory
    6.19 GB total virtual memory
    5.12 GB available virtual memory
    Page file space 3.29 GB

So my question is WHY AVAILABLE PHYSICAL MEMORY IS STILL 2.01 GB? When I installed 4 GB and the system can see that only in theory.

There is nothing wrong with your system. As you have already posted, windows displays your total amount of 4 GB of physical memory and the total physical memory to 3 GB.
The part with the available memory is a thing of windows and displays how much memory is left for other programs, because windows needs some of them your own sound.

So, if you want to use all of your 4 GB you will need to use a 64 bit version of Vista, because 32-bit versions are limited to a maximum size of 3, 29GB as already indicated your page file space.

Hope this cleared some things now.

  • Upgrade memory 520-1050 TS

It would have been great if the 520-1050 TS came with its maximum in memory of 8 MB instead of 6 MB, but no problem, it can be upgraded.

My question, it seems 2 types of memory upgrades can be used and wanted to find who I use because I've always loved my systems to memory max. The specs on the upgrades memory say the following:

    -==============================================

    Boxerm, welcome to the forum.

Given that the motherboard supports the memory dual channel, you will need to replace the existing memory.  It seems that there are only two slots.  So, you want to buy a set (2 x 4 GB = 8 GB) you ensure that you have dual channel.  Dual channel is faster.  I would buy the PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333).  Here's a good explanation of the speed of memory.  If you're like me when I started to learn about the RAM, most of this information is difficult to understand.  However, it will give you a good learning experience.

I suggest to use the Crucial memory.  Here is the memory they recommend for your computer.  Recommended memory is guaranteed to work or it will be replaced free of charge for you.  I had read the entire page, as it provides good information.

  • Upgrade memory (over TP. R40e) problem

    Hello!

I tried to increase the RAM on my ThinkPad R40e to 768 MB (now it has 256 MB) with module of 512 MB but computer recognized only half of the new memory module capacity.

Module has 512 MB DDR400 (new) and it was made by "takeMS".

    (CL 3, 2.5 V, 4 'chips' on each side a - 8 to the total/2 sides)

Since it was of DDR400 (PC 3200), this memory downgraded successfully to DDR266 (PC 2100) but only half was recognized - 256 MB!

    So, my questions are:

    1. is it possible to upgrade memory to 768 MB (256 + 512) with different types - DDR266 and DDR400

(a few MB less because it has an integrated graphics card)?

    2. what brand/type of 512 MB of RAM can I use for this model of ThinkPad R40e?

(according to IBM/Lenovo maximum capacity is 1 GB of RAM - 2 x 512 MB)

Computer: IBM ThinkPad R40e, model: 2684 (celeron 2.2 GHz, RAM: 256 MB DDR 266, HARD drive: 30 GB, combo)

    Thank you!

PS Sorry if my English is bad.

    I found a solution.

I upgraded the memory on my ThinkPad R40e!

    Here is the solution:

    1. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version.

(Before update BIOS it is necessary to check the Embedded Controller Progam version and update to the latest version before upgrading the BIOS)

All the drivers and software for R40 and R40e are here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-46024.html

    2. I bought 512 MB DDR RAM PC3200 - 400 Mhz (in my case, the memory is Kingston ValueRam: KVR400X64SC3A/512).

This ThinkPad uses PC2100 and PC2700 memory I bought is backward compatible (and cheaper)

It is important that this computer will only recognize memory that has 4 chips on each side!

I hope this can be useful to someone!

    Good bye

    M.

P.S. Thank you George 'shark' 66 (within my means country word "gear" - shark) for your help and your messages!

  • Upgrade memory of 512 to 2G on a T43 gave rise to a white screen with the power upward

I type Thinkpad T43 2687 and I added 1 GB DDR2 RAM PC2-5300 for the slot originally neath expansion slot and then I added the Mithraeum card to replace the size 512 under the keyboard.  Power to the top of the battery and AC lights came, but the screen remains blank. Then I replaced the card of underkeyboard with the original 512 memory card and nothing changed, finally I removed the second 1 GB card so I was back to the original configuration and all is back to where I started.  Everything works but no upgrade memory.

No idea why the system does not recognize the additional memory or worse, why he stopped the whole of the system?

Also any ideas how memory works on the upgrade I used kingston in my approach?

    Thank you

The slot premanente RAM thus cleared, pop 1 GB under the keyboard and let us know what happens.

  • upgrade memory 3000 c100

    Hello

I'm a little confused by the maximum upgrade memory to the c100 table. The table can be found here:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?sitestyle=Lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-64979

Does this mean that total maximum memory is 2 GB by reading the last row? Because it does not specify if the stick or the total of the sticks.

I currently have a barrette of 512 MB and I need to upgrade... soon. I just want to understand what it is I do and what is the max I can update. I havn't had any problems with this laptop and have had it for 3 years now. It would be great if I could get many years of use out of it, maybe get a new when I graduated from college.

In addition, which means no parity (in the description of the type of memory).

    Thank you kindly,

    Jess

from what I understand, your laptop can support 2 x 1 gig of ram sticks, which gives a maximum of 2 GB of ram.

Your laptop has two DIMM slots. The maximum amount of memory, others have upgraded to 4 GB is. The maximum recommended by HP is 2 GB. The memory of replacement should be PC2-5300 667 Mhz, 1.8V

Here is a link to the memory at Crucial.com.  Only use the modules of replacement by major memory creators who produce guaranteed compatible memory modules to avoid the risk of buying incompatible modules.

  • Upgrade memory on an all in a single LX830

I may upgrade the 4 GB provided to meet the requirements of the program. Additional memory needs to be installed in pairs? The existing 4 GB occupies a dwelling, can I mount 8 GB in another location or it will be incompatible?

Well, mainly upgrade memory depends on the support of the chipset/CPU.

Not quite sure what computer Toshiba LX830 do you have exactly but as far as I know the L830 all in one units would support up to 16 GB of RAM.

A property used by a 4 GB RAM module and housing is free.
This is why it must be able to use another additional module of 8 GB RAM.

But of course, another module of 8 GB RAM should be compatible with the current 4 GB of RAM.
Otherwise, you will get some compatibility issues
