Upgrade on Satellite A205-s4607

Hello

I have a toshiba A205 - s4607, ith 2 GB RAM (DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non - ECC)) and a 200.0 GB Serial ATA-150 - 4200,0 RPM. The laptop is absolutely original in terms of hardware, I just change the Vista of origin for Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I would like to do an upgrade on it, as follows:
(1) purchase of 2 2 GB memory cards each (obviously DDR2 PC2-5300)

(2) replace my HD (it's too slow) with a HD of SDS, with at least 160 GB, like this: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?poid=2000010007

Well. I Don t see and edit problems in memory. If someone has something to say, sure. The real question is that I need to know if my BIOS will be compatible with SSDS. Can someone tell me if I can continue on this? There the DDD that suits you the best on my laptop than others? Someone had done it before and can tell me the result and if was easy?

Thanks in advance

Fernando

> The question is that I need to know if my BIOS will be compatible with SSDS.
In my opinion Yes. The point is that the laptop supports a SATA controller and if you want to use a SSD SATA drive, the BIOS must recognize too.
But I put so t have this model of laptop it s just a theory.

My Satellite A205-S4607 will be two years old in May 2009 (bought from a retailer).

Have been reasonably satisfied with the equipment, but in the few months several times I had to start questions. But the solution so far, fortunately, turns out to be simple. I just remove and reinsert the battery and boot performs as usual. What is a warning of something sign? This has happened about three times over a period of 4 months or more. It just happened again today. Is this normal?

Hmm, this should not be a common behavior of mobile. I want to say that I've never noticed this problem on one of my laptops Satellite

Just a question; Update you the BIOS to the latest?

You should do this! I noticed that new BIOS version come out from time to time, and if this strange question appears then you should check if a BIOS update would improve the functionality of the laptop.

    Hello
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A205-S5851 with Windows Vista Home Edition... I want to fresh install win xp. but I don't have driver CD. So I searched and found this link

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?modelFilter=A205-S5851&RPN=PSAE3U&category=&selCategory=3&MOID=1998 593 & os = & ct = DL & selFamily = 1073768663

but I couldn't find any video or sound, and lan drivers for xp... my question is, in any other place where I can get it? or a set of software driver required for this model Toshiba satellite A205-S5851, something like a pack of CD... UUST as the original CD but for XP. ?

and... What are the key drivers that I need to do my best work laptop. like sound, video, chipset, lan, wireless lan. .. all others. ???

    Thank you

Of course, your laptop model is not fully supported for Windows XP Home edition.
Another place for drivers? There's no other place where you can find the drivers for your laptop model. You have the laptop model US and it will appear on American support page only.

What you can do is compare the material on your laptops and trying to find the similar model, but fully taken WXP supported and use these drivers.
If you do not find the only drivers so you won't find any plan because your laptop is not supported for Windows XP Home edition.

Yes, for an optimal working, you driver touchpad, audio driver, chipset, LAN/WLAN driver, driver video driver. S, I think, the minimum on the drivers that must be installed for optimal work.

  • How to turn off the menu of the camera on Satellite A205?

About a year and a half ago, I bought a laptop Satellite A205-S462. It came with a camera that I never had a use for. I managed to turn off the camera, but the context menu pop still annoyingly when my mouse goes to the left of the screen.
Can someone tell me how to disable or hide the menu permanently?

In addition, because I'm not a big fan of the use of memory on the facilities that I don't use, I guess it's a service I need to stop. But which?

    Hello

Best thing you can do is follow:

Start the window RUN (Win + R key) and put inside MSCONFIG. When the system configuration window is open, click on the Startup tab. You will find Chicony traybar under Startup items. Delete in front of her box and Camera Assistant Software will be begins not with Vista.

If you need cam you can start it manually.

Sorry, but I didn t understand your second question. I hope someone else can help with that.

  • Memory and disk HARD upgrade question - Satellite 5200 801

    Hi all

I really need your help to upgrade my toshiba Satellite 5200 801 (model: PS520E-31P1D-EN), basically it's the version specification factory (technical instructions on the link below)
    http://www.cwrose.de/Toshiba/S5200.html

What I want is to get faster internal memory, you can buy for this model (currently I have two default 256 mb DDR 266 MHz CL2.5 memory sticks). Will probably do a gig of memory (I could have more, but it depends on the price).
As well, I want to spend the HD to 160 gig (about), as well as get a faster hard drive then the current 60gig 4200 RPM Hitachi HD (as soon as possible for the specifications of my laptop).

Anyone know what would be the best option?

Someone said that it would cost all under 100 (that would be cool), but I don't know anything about the compatibility of different companies etc.
Can anyone recommend what equipment... .and where * I hope that ebay or studs :)
I need to go to get this sorted out

    PS:
FYI, I mostly use the laptop for graphic design, video, and the interwebz.

Thanks for any help you can give!

    Hello

You can upgrade the Satellite 5200 801 memory and HARD drive.
S for laptop computer memory can be improved up to 1 GB of RAM. So you can use 2 x 512 MB PC2100 DDR - RAM modules.

    Check this link 5200-801 Satellite:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=6116&ft=m&St=3

In my opinion, you can use the modules of memory from different manufacturers, but the module must support these specifications: 200-Pin PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM
I suppose you could also use a 400 Mhz because the laptop supports a 400 Mhz FSB too.

I think that an upgrade of the IDE 160 GB HARD disk is not possible. To my knowledge, the BIOS can support such massive size of the HARD drive. But this is only my personal opinion. If I was you I would try a smaller HDD like 100 GB or 120 GB.

  • Satellite A205 - Vista backup center and restoration with a WiFi hard drive

I use Vista Ultimate Center of backup and restore to back up hard drive of my laptop Satellite A205 series on a wireless external hard drive. The external hard drive (which is formatted in NTFS) is directly attached (via USB) to my wireless router Belkin low, instead of being connected directly on my laptop.

I know that this WiFi network hard drive is recognized by my laptop series Satellite A205, because it appears as "Drive Z:" when I click on 'My Computer'... but the version of "Backup and Restore Center" which appeared on my laptop Satellite A205 only allows backup of DVD or directly - connected hard drive not the readers of (strange for a laptop with built-in WiFi) network.

By contrast, the version of the backup center and restaurant located on my computer to my lists one office (also Vista), drives on the computer at first - but it includes a "more:"hyperlink by which someone with rights Admin can click and access the network drives. "

This "more:"hyperlink does not appear on the version of the backup center and restore on my laptop Toshiba Satellite 205. "

I can't even someone at Microsoft to talk to me without first
    $ 69.95 for the 'privilege '.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi irsharp23,

    > but the version of "Backup and Restore Center" which appeared on my Satellite A205 laptop only allows backup of DVD or directly - connected hard drive not the readers of (strange for a laptop with WiFi built-in) network.
    Laughing out loud
I think that's not a junk Toshiba. Center backup and restore is designed by Microsoft and Toshiba has nothing to do with it. So I think you need to get in touch with the guys at Microsoft to ask for a solution, or there may be an update for this tool.
    Did you check that?

Moreover, why n t connect the external DRIVE directly to your laptop drive? I don't see a reason to connect such a disc HARD backup over the network, because this image of backup can be used only on your laptop.

Alternative, I can recommend Acronis True Image to record images of backup on the network or if you use Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize your files between laptops and network. ;)
