Upgrade to win 10_is restoration to win7 smooth if necessary?

I upgraded my computer to win 10 and lost a bunch of programs I've used. However I couldn't roll as soon as it was too late. I now have a new for me computer and need to know if the cancellation is smooth before I try again. Really I wouldn't have to reinstall everything again. Yes, I have a backup online, but would have to download that and it's not small. Should I make a DVD?

As far as I know, the rollback method is far from smooth.

I suggest you read (especially method the complex (but more accurate): Clone and restore your system drive )

Download Windows 10 free after July 29, with a little preparation now

    Hello

I was wondering, I have the Windows 8.1, upgrade of the media that I had for my Toshiba Satellite C50 - A computer. Upgrade to 8.1 Windows and got the upgrade DVD, came with the laptop. So I do it just insert the DVD, click on Set up, or do I need to go back to factory settings, then insert the DVD and as a blind it student, will need sighted assistance.

Any help, advice, tips of people made this before. I have a 1 TB USB drive Toshiba external hard, so have saved all that and added a number of things today, but saved the rest of my stuff, docs, College work, emails, my settings for RSS feeds, contacts for outlook 2010, programs, music, TV, movies, bookmarks, etc, so all advice.

The exact specification of your model is unknown to me, but I assume that you got your machine with recovery disc Win8.1 so if you want to use Win8.1, you must start your computer with the recovery disc and make clean OS install.

I don't know if you got your machine with Win7 preinstalled initially. If so create recovery media (DVD or USB) using pre-installed recovery disc creator Toshiba before you start the installation of Win8.1.
This created recovery media, you can use if you want to have the machine with Win7 again.

  • How to stop Windows Update to force an unwanted win7 upgrade to win 10

Can someone tell me how to stop Windows Update to force an unwanted Win 7 upgrade to win 10.

Currently, I have 50 + 'important' updates pending and 3 updates "optional" (which one is ranked 10 Windows), but even with 10 Windows Update is not selected and the value "hide this update" the only option shown in Windows Update is upgrading to Windows 10.

Any attempt to install ONE of the other Win 7 or MS Office updates translates into Windows Update, saying that it is downloading Windows 10.

I would like to install updates Windows 7 (and MS Office), but given the way that Microsoft has put on several occasions customers for a forced update to win 10, I'd really rather not count on leave install Win 10 and just hope that the 'Roll Back' option really works without leaving me right where I am now.

  • Backup and restore error Win7

I tried the upgrade to win 10 for 30 days, but restored to Win 7 Pro. Before the trial, my backup and restore has been recorded successfully on an extra partition (d :)) after returning to Win7, I now get the error code: 0 x 81000031.) I tried the work around to restore my default libraries, but that it was not fixed. • HP Envy M6: My HARD drive is not bad on my computer? I have reloaded Win 8 and upgraded to Win 8.1 but he keeps crashing

Hi need help and answers from an expert!

My HP Envy M6 Recenly has stopped working correctly, so I decided to recover as soon as possible.  She still had the same problems, so I decided to restore factory with recovery USB flash drive I did.  Always had the same problem happens after I rebooted 8 Win and improved to 8.1.  It would work for a few minutes and stop working I used chkdsk and it says it fixed a few problems with the drive.

I went through the same steps another 3 times!  After each time that once I had that he would be running again after a clean reinstall.  I would like to run chkdsk and it looks like he fixed some error, but last time, it wouldn't or couldn't find some files to run and crashed.  I tried loading Acronis and tried to reinstall the backup from there but that also failed to correct the problem.  I came to the conclusion that my HD is physically wrong?

I guess the recovery process would reformat the partitions before you reinstall so it's not a logic error (software)?  From the recovery partition, the recovery Flash disk media and recovery software acronis can fix this, I can only assume, there is a problem with the drive itself?

Is there a way to check this?  I don't mind replacing the drive to a SSD, so this isn't a problem, but I can't seem to find a product key.  Nothing printed on the bottom.  I read somewhere that it is now integrated with the motherboard bios so can I just use the recovery media that I did on a flash drive?

Also, I have my backup file but I could never find the location of the image my wife loaded as the photo of "lock" screen which I do not have a copy of.  I have the backup files for windows 8.1 by Acronis and according to me, a Windows backup file on a backup drive, but I was wondering if these "locked screen hidden image" would be held somewhere in these data?  It is not under the images and I have never been able to find or understand where windows keeps this image.  I used the search without success.

Of course, this is not critical, but I hate losing this particular image.  I hope it's keep somewhere in my back upward and when restoring with a new drive hard I can reload the backup and restore.

So I really ned knowledge step by step: my HD is bad?  How can I check without having to spend hours to reload only to fail?

Why chkdisk does not?  Or should I simply replace HD and if so what can I use the new disk recovery media and product ID will be accessible through the motherboard?

I intend to upgrade to win 10, but I need Win 8 loading first, then move to 8.1 then move to Win 10?  Also in the future if it crashes how can I recover to win 10? Since it is free now but will not be later.  The upgrade will allow me to make a copy (a copy) to win 10?

A lot of questions, but please provide the fastest solution to my problems and concerns.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello fmhawaii ;

I read your post on your PC crashing and wanted to help.

It certainly seems that your hard drive has failed.  Some PC allows the drive to check in the BIOS: test a hard drive in the BIOS. HP® customer support

If that confirms that the disc is bad, then you will need to replace it.

As for activation, you are right in that, with Win8x machines, the product key is embedded in the motherboard UEFI firmware, however, the instructions in this link, show you how to recover: find product - key for Windows 8

When you restore from recovery media, which is supposed to automatically read product key, so you will not have to enter something to activate reinstall it.  My guess is that the drive problems that prevented from happening.

Acronis allows you to mount an image file by using a drive letter, and once you do this, you should then be able to browse through the content to find the file you want.  However, depending on what part of the logon icon changed, it might be embedded image in a Windows system file, and unless there is a separate copy of this image, it will be very difficult to recover.  IF you Google it, you might be able to find downloadable tools for disassembly of this file and subseuent extraction of this file.

I wouldn't hurry to Win10, but if you choose to follow this path, don't forget to make a new advance Acronis backup, then you can return to a system of Win8x of work if something is wrong - as the Win10 GoBack function is known to be unreliable.

    Good luck

From what I've read about the specifications of your computer, it had Windows 8 core and not Windows 8 Pro from the factory.  When you update the store Windows or Windows Update, Windows will search the version you have on the system and download the appropriate version.

If you feel that the above is not correct, do a factory restore using the recovery or recovery that hopfully disks Manager, you created when you first got the computer and check the installed system.

Hi, John. It's quite nervous of a member of the MS forum say that Dell is responsible to operate Windows. It wasn't Dell but MS who claims that Win10 has most of the necessary drivers and if not then the drivers Win7 and Win8.1 would work.

I was hoping that maybe Dell could find in the goodness of their hearts to a updated driver IDT 92HDxxx... pretty please?

I doubt that it is possible for two reasons. Dell went from IDT Realtek as the audio seller so probably not more a a contract with IDT, if IDT even exist anymore. A year ago IDT was acquired by another company. I do not know its current status, but it is sure that the acquiring company will not be upgrading old software IDT. Reference Dell itself does not write the audio drivers. Even when IDT was the seller I believe that Win7 drivers are the final versions - no version 8 or 8.1 I think.

The native Windows audio driver can't stand struggling external mic. It is a MS 'known problem '. MS must implement a decision-making support, but there is no indication that it will be. Meanwhile, you have two workaround solutions. You can switch backwards between the natives and the IDT drivers. At some point Win10 could leave the IDT driver works correctly. Or get an outlet cheap usb audio to the microphone. Struggling running out-audio driver usb Windows native usb and so dependent no driver IDT.

  • Win 7 32 bit sp1 pro has not upgraded to win 10.

After a failure of the upgrade to win 10, I took the option to come back to win 7, such offered in the first month or so, only to find pc display error corrupted or tampered with the Task Scheduler. I tried restoring the restore point saved only to be told that too much has been altered and lacked some crucial files. all attempts since then have failed and it seems no answer to solve the problem. I would definitely to win 10 if it worked correctly with my system .i can only hope that eventually someone can come to a solution that has many others seems to be affected by. If there is a fix out there please let me know.

If the upgrade failed, how do come back you?  I suspect the upgrade succeeded, you had questions and chose to return.

It is time to repair the system, you either have now or pure install win 10 (if enabled)

Please run a check of system files (SFC) & DISM if you're on win 8 or higher
