• Install Linux host - need to install some 1st time help

  I am trying to install "Server 2.0.1" on a Linux host (Kubuntu 9.04 'Wild'). I have reviewed the user guide and install the docs, but need jump start information so I can go.

  1. after installation of VMware server, install the Windows XP operating system together?

  (a) install the Windows XP operating system using a virtual machine console

  -OR-

  boot from the Windows CD and do a bunch fresh duel b) install along side Linux?

  -OR-

  (c) is it better to have Linux and Windows OS is installed before installing VMware Server?

  You can do everything above - normally, I would say to do a clean hd and partition it if you have what you need for the two operating systems - or use a tool such as Partition Magic to calve until you already have (if you do not want to go back to a clean slate).

  The benefits are that each OS can see the equipment (and use) it's own - so multimedia will be better - but you have to devote resources in advance.

  You can have Linux and XP installed with the server at a time, running the opposing OS... which is a bit random!

  I have a couple of machines virtual linux (centos 5.2), we use as web/file servers.

  GUI is not installed and vmnic type is E1000.

  Do we need to install wmware tools even if there is no GUI/graphics on virtual machine?

  Complete development environment. Run apexins.sql from the following four arguments in the order shown:

  @apexins.sql tablespace_apex tablespace_files tablespace_temp images

  Runtime environment . Run apxrtins.sql passing the following arguments in the following order:

  @apxrtins.sql tablespace_apex tablespace_files tablespace_temp images

  For installing the Runtime, you will need to runapxrtins.sql instead of apxrtins.sql instead of apxrtins.sql instead of apxrtins.sql instead of apexins.sql

  I want to try to be at the forefront, so I want to deploy the latest version of the client 64 - bit 11 g instead of our current client (10 g 32-bit).
  
  The simple question is this: can we actually do with our suite of 32-bit applications or do I need to install the client for 32-bit to 32-bit applications side-by-side with the customer of Oracle 11 g 64 bit for future 64-bit clients?
