USB 3.0 hard drives all sony vaio S

Hello world.

I bought a Sony Vaio S (1st generation I think, model x 1190) last year and I just started to use ports USB 3.0 with USB 3 devices.  I find that I have intermittent problems, connection USB 3 external drives to the 3 USB ports.  Work of devices USB 2 fine on all 3 ports USB, 3.0 and 2.0 ports and also connect my 3 USB devices to a USB 2.0 on the laptop works very well - however to USB 2 speed of course.

The problem is that sometimes the powers of the device upwards (led power light) but no sound or the windows message that the device is connected and that it does not find it on the Disk Manager or Device Manager.  When the same camera and same cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port, it connects very well even if the message indicates that the device can run faster in a port USB 3.

The question is - is this a known issue with the material or is there a 3rd party patch driver windows or the manufacturer of the motherboard?  I tried to get the latest drivers from Sony and there is none after intial those supplied with the computer.  Same thing with windows update, no new drivers.

I tried a variety of different USB 3 devices, as well as several cables where cable was the problem and the problem is that sometimes it works sometimes not.  Sometimes after restarting the system or the reisntalling the USB 3 drivers it works, but sometimes not.

Everyone is finding a problem and what they have done about it?

You can try to run the diagnostics of material via the Vaio Care. Open Vaio Care Desktop Mode, and then click Advanced tools, click Diagnostics. In the eyes of the list for the diagnosis of USB. You can also reinstall drivers for devices from the Device Manager. Uninstall all the USB devices that are listed, and then download the device driver on the Support Site. Equip your exact model name to download the appropriate driver for your system.  If the problem persists after you have reinstalled the drivers. We will have to do a recovery on the computer to completely isolate the cause of the problem.

    I don't know what HARD drive you have exactly, but I know that Toshiba offers a software protection with external hard drives.
    Did you check manuals? Is something like that provided with your HARD drive?

    Maybe you need to use some third party software part for the protection of files on the HARD drive. Google all over the place.

    Disconnect the USB HDD and remove all the USB ports and Device Manager USB controllers. After restarting again the OS should reinstall ports. Then you could try to reconnect the HARD drive.

    I put t know if this can help, but you can try to connect a USB hub with an external power supply. Then try to connect this external HARD disk to the USB hub.
    I know that it of not a exactly the solution but maybe it will help you to solve this problem of USB.
