USB-6009 stops working

Hi all

My apologies in advance if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find it in a search.

USB - 6009 s allows us to measure an analog signal.  We recently bought the latest model of the laptop that we use, and with this new laptop model, we observe that the USB - 6009 s stop working after a short period of time (usually less than an hour) of data taking.  Although the down time is variable, once the USB-6009 case stops working, it does not work until we UN-plug/re-plug USB cable to the laptop.

This behavior is compatible with the device is not enough power through USB?  Is there a way to check whether what is happening?  We wonder if the new laptops are not up to the task and will try a hub powered as an experiment.

Thank you

Bruce

It seems therefore that the main cause of our problem was an old DAQmx.  We used v9.2.3

I waited until the entered 6009 in the non-plus-acquisition mode and then tried to use a panel of Test able & Automation Explorer.  It gave me an error on buffer overruns.  When I checked the DAQmx (especially to v9.4and v9.6 ) release notes I found several fixes specific 6009 overruns buffer and compatibility with Windows 7-related, so I installed the last DAQmx, v9.9.

Although I did successful tests, the problem that I saw seems to have disappeared after installing the latest version of DAQmx.

Why this happens on our new laptops (Dell 5540) and not the old ones (Dell 5530) by using the same Windows image?  I don't know, but can only assume the old drivers OR don't play well with the new systems chipset/USB drivers.

Thanks for all your help!

Bruce

    Hello

Have you tried to connect devices directly to the USB port?
Try this and see if the USB device is disconnected, as you mentioned that using the external USB hub.

Generally speaking, it is difficult to say what might cause this
You could try updating the chipset driver.
Of course, you should also check the USB port settings, and power management options for economy.

In device manager-> USB root & hub-> properties you could disable for unique energy saving USB ports.
This also on Win 7 power management.

  • USB keyboard stops working

I have a similar problem - USB keyboard stops working, although device manager says it's working properly. Sometimes have disconnected and reconnected it helps, sometimes not. Trackball USB stops working.  Sometimes the USB keyboard is also dead after hibernation.

This is a new problem happened after I installed Windows 7.  (I am running XP before that.)

I apologize for the late response. Thank you for any assistance.  Problem is solved!

I don't have test Gerry Cornell suggestion to plug directly into the USB port, because this problem occurs during labor when I use the keyboard and the trackball with a hub (which is connected to one of the 2 USB ports in the back of the computer via an extension through a wall to the computer cable - I access the computer in 2 different rooms). But he suggested a possible solution. I bought an inexpensive motor hub, and the problem has stopped completely.  It has not occurred during the months spent at all.

Although this problem of keyboard disappears permanently started immediately after the transition from XP to Win7, there is a hardware solution.  My guess is that with the extension and a hub not powered, there were seeds of signal, and the XP driver was better at handling what driver Win7.

BTW, the XP to Win7 upgrade has been done by installing (but does not) Vista and then install Win7 on that, as advised by Darek emulators.com.  WinXP ran SoftMac pretty badly but Win7 it runs like a champ. OS 8.1 boots in 10 seconds approximately.

  • USB ports stopped working unexpectedly

Hi, I am currently on "Toshiba Satellite C655"run"Windows 7 Home Premium". It's a laptop of 2009 model (2 GB). Last night (24/02/14) my USB Ports stopped working, they have been and continue to read anything every time I have to plug my devices. I usually only connect a cooling block and a USB mouse to the computer. They worked perfectly until I disconnected the. When I reconnect them, they work momentarily, and then I hear the beep sounds when you eject a device. I tried to connect several flashdrives, a printer, and one I tried the following hotfixes:

Note: The order of numbering has nothing to do with the order, I tried to apply each patch unless specified elsewhere. This computer had Windows 7 Home Premium REINSTALLED at some point. Just for your information. This message was made when there are others with the same problem is due to the fact that no solution not specified by Microsoft Technical Support or the Microsoft community were effective.

    1) System Restore to the last known point, where they worked (and still). (Point restoration @ 15/02/24)

    2) Windows Update

    3) turn off the computer, disconnect the battery and the power supply and holding 'On' button for 10seconds.

(Note: whenever I turn on the computer now they work only for a moment, usually from 60 to 180 seconds.)

    (4) Start > research ' Device Manager '> "De Bus USB controllers" Expand and turn off and restart the computer. They are re - activate automatically but my problem persists.

    (5) download and run "Microsoft FixIt.WinUSB... ", on the 1st, I had a problem with devices not updated. But I actually watch updates by using Windows Update and ""searching for hardware changes "" on USB Bus controllers "." I then did a 'System Restore' and now Microsoft FixIt found no problem but the USB Ports don't always work.

    (6) will ' services.msc"and change the Startup Type of Manual to Automatic for Windows install and restart Windows."

    7) regedit

    8) sfc/scannow

I am really lost with this problem now. My laptop works and worked perfectly fine until this problem occurred. I have fixed minor problems with computers before, but this is a bad joke for me now. If someone could please help me with this problem I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your help, but I discovered something funny on my computer. My cooling package (product name: Laptop Cooling Pad NSB;) HYCF-6181-2 model number) is to disable my USB ports when I plug. If I leave it unplugged and restart my computer, my USB mouse is still working on a port. Also tried using my USB and other devices. The problem is my block of cooling that strangely disables my USB ports, whenever I plug. Thank you very much for your quick response, fortunately the answer might help me in the future. For now, I have solved my problem.

  • All USB ports stopped working Windows 7

Windows 7 Pro. All USB ports stopped working.  When I plug a usb card, windows makes the sound as it connects and the card gets power (light).  I see the map appear in disk drives in Device Manager.  The player does not display in windows Explorer or disk management.  In Device Manager, it has an exclamation point and says that the device cannot start.

Strangely, I have a USB keyboard and mouse and they work very well.

It's just the USB drives and chips and SD cards that are not displayed.

    I have:

    Reinstalled the drivers USB MB

Flashed the BIOS with the latest version

Tried to install the older USB drivers

Tried to let windows find the driver.

    Still does not

None of this has helped.  I ended up formatting the HD and reinstall windows from dvd.

This revealed that my USB multicard reader was bad.  When I unplugged the problem disappeared.

Have you tried reinstalling the driver USB 3.0? Please try and check the functionality. If this will not help I recommend you do the ultimate test: back up all your data and reinstall Win8 using recovery media. Test it with clean OS preinstalled and factory settings.

In the worst cases, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

    Hi JimBrowne,

1 update you tried to install?

You can check the updates that are installed recently.

    a. Click Start, click all programs and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click on view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.

You can try to perform a restore of the system to a restore point before you have been affected by the problem or the update has been installed and check.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To run the system restore, you can consult the following link:

And sry about my bad English, which is not my language.

The only thing I found that worked the first time, every time (so far) is simply stop and UNPLUG your computer (for laptops... Disconnect the battery as well a few moments).

With the machine on, the motherboard may still have activity.   This is what needs to be reset.

Remove power, reboot and see if the mouse started working as you go through the screen "windows".

Once logged on, it should pass the routine "found new hardware". This will solve the problem of "Unknown USB device" which is related to the mouse works do not.

    Hello

If you have a USB mouse wired and keyboard connected to your computer, and that they do not work properly, please check following things:

    1. Firstly, plug the USB into a different port on your computer. If they still do not work...

2 try them on another computer! and if the problem is still there, it would be easy for you to just replace. But is not likely to result in the mouse and the keyboard does not at the same time!

2 and if it's OK with another computer, which would be something wrong with your computer, and it could be from a hardware or software.

Just see how it is done up to now.
