USB disabling on PXI controllers

It has been suggested that USB should be disabled in the BIOS to reduce jitter in a RT application running on a PC (such as PXI controllers).

My question is: on a system (such as the PXI-8108) has not a PS/2 connector, disable the USB will prevent not the use of a keyboard or a mouse so that it may be impossible to get into the setup of the BIOS again, or is the USB still active while the BIOS runs at startup?

AnthonV,

Good question.  Fortunately, the BIOS is smart enough to leave the USB keyboard support enabled for the duration of the start procedure to allow users to enter and use the BIOS configuration utility.  Until the BIOS yields control to the operating system (LabVIEW RT in this case), it disables the existing keyboard stand if RT is selected as the target of the boot.

Note that when RT is selected as the target of the boot, USB keyboard support is disabled automatically by the BIOS on PXI/PXI controllers.  So there is nothing to do to make sure that you use the optimal configuration for the jitter of the RT.

Let me know if you need more clarification.

Thank you

  • USB disabled after the update of the Sierra (a short circuit and a work)

Hi, when I bought my mbp 13 inches mid2012 (used, not new) I noticed that a USB port did not work. In the Yosemite sometimes I noticed that a USB port consumed too much energy and have been disabled. (I think because the usb port has been short-circuited. Year when it was time to update the mbp to El Capitan I had a few panic the kernel and the newspaper was shown as the last driver loaded the USB driver, so I kept the mbp with Yosemite. A few days ago, I updated for Sierra but only usb which used to work stopped working. It has enabled and turned on but Finder and disk utility does not see the drive. In an Apple dealer they said that could be established relationships with some oxide and next week will take it and see what the problem is.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. Based on what you said, it appears as a USB device is not recognized in one of the USB ports. There are a few things that can cause this. I recommend you read these articles, which may be able to help solve the problem.

    Hello

You can enter the BIOS settings? If you can do this by using F2 to start together to check and default settings if the same thing will happen again. You can try to put the bootable disc in ODD and try to check if you have access to the HARD drive.

If the same thing will happen again and again I'm afraid the motherboard is a failure of m.

I need a USB of my target in time power control real (PXI) who installed the engine time real Labview (no windows installation).

If I'm not mistaken, this is not possible with the USB port on the controller (NI PXI-8108) that I have not installed windows to recognize the device.  As far as I could see, it looks like I need to buy a special card for PXI that allows me to interact with USB devices.

Is there someone who came across such an environment to see if it's the right approach?

    Thank you very much

  • Derives from the system time when calling OR-Motion screw on PXI controllers

    Hello

Just an email to avoid others wasting time when they are facing in this fantasy bug:

We use PXI systems with Controllers NI PXI running Windows 7 and the 7340 family cards (PXI-7344). We have noticed that when the calls when it's through screws OR-Motion to question the different registers of the State (e.g. position, ADC value, general axis or the reference state) axis, the (Windows) system clock runs FASTER either. OR-Motion calls most are performed per second, faster windows clock works. When you get into the status for 4 axes 10 times per second (lines 100 ms rate), the drift is greater than 5%!

I include here an example of program that reproduces this behavior.

It is an essential question, for example if save you data with or from the timestamps, and it gets even worse if Windows is configured to periodically synchronize its own clock to a server via the NTP Protocol (it's how we noticed this problem in the first place). In this case, you see large discontinuities in your data every once in a while. Our systems must be running automatically and record data continuously throughout the year, so this bug is a real challenge.

People at NOR been able to reproduce this bug too and are working on it (no idea of any CAR # yet). Note that this problem has not been seen on a DC non - OR Office running Windows 7 64 bit...

The exact configuration is the following:

4 PXI-7340 axes into the Groove 4, no physical connection for this test

To summarize for those who want a short version:

    Model: Sony VAIO Duo svd11225cxb

    Windows 8.1

    a. my touch screen of this device is * outside? Any way to reinstall the driver for the touch screen? Tech Sony said that the material is very good.

    b. in my efforts to solve the problem, I turned off a device in Device Manager and it now gone, no way to recover?

    Here is the full version:

I have a Sony VAIO Duo svd11225cxb. After the recent updates, freaked out and kept touch screen back to the menu screen to start (and possibly other areas of the screen).

We decided that so that the computer to operate, it should disable the touch screen. So we went to the Device Manager and disabled the "usb input device" under "human interface devices" which associated with the touch screen. Allow us went then back to him and found that the unit had disappeared from the Device Manager. I tried to install the next window touchscreen driver, but that did nothing. Any advice?

    Hi herschen,.

Welcome to the community of Sony!

Perhaps the question is just the driver. We will isolate the problem by following these steps:

    • Power cycle - turn off the laptop-> flip the unit and look for a button cell or a pin hole on the bottom of the laptop. Using a safety pin, press and hold the hole for 5 seconds.

    • Reset the BIOS to the
    • Go to Device Manager -> right click and Uninstall the driver/s under Human Interface Device (DO NOT REMOVE). Then restart the unit. The driver will be reinstalled.

  • Problems of allocation of resources motherboard PCI with PXI controllers

I set up a test system to a PXI-PCIe8361 controller and a PXI-1042 chassis.  Several years ago, there are known problems with some motherboards on the assignment of the PCI resources.  I looked and could not find more old messages and lists of recommended motherboards.  It seems that ASUS is a manufacturer in order to avoid any Abit and Gigabyte function well.  Is there a list more up-to-date recommended motherboards or manufacturers?  Is it still a problem with the latest motherboards?

    Any information will be appreciated,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

PCI resource allocation issues are significantly less common with new mothers/BIOS maps. In situations where this problem always produces a BIOS update usually solves the problem. The best advice I can give if you buy a new computer for connection of MXI must go with a PC and a cell phone, who you are.

These question is sufficiently rare that we do not maintain a list of manufactures suggested, if you encounter any problems you can call us at the 1-866-ASK-MYNI, and we would be happy to help you.

    Thank you

  • OR PXI-8196 target using a USB stick formatting

    Hello everyone,

I use a PXI chassis with controller PXI-8196 and multiple PXI DAQmx cards. I need to format the hard drive on the target of PXI and reinstall the RT operating system as well as all other software. I am trying to restart the PXI with a USB bootable, but it gives me the option to format the hard drive.

Here are the steps I followed.

    1. I created the disk bootable with MAX using the RT disc utilities > create Desktop PC USB Drive Utility (PXI-8196 does not have a floppy drive so I have to use a USB key)

    2. I have connected a keyboard and screen to target to see it start.

    3. I've also adjusted the sequence of boot as the boot option "USB HDD: LEXAR JUMPDRIVE SPORT" among those available in the boot sequence has the highest priority. (My USB is a USB of LEXUS so I'm sure that this particular option must be the first in the sequence).

4 but once I start my system. It does not give me the option to format (according to MAX documentation should give me an option to "format hard drive"). Here's what I see on the screen connected to the target

= = The output to the screen is bounded by these two rails =.

  • For the USB Hi-Speed and Licensing policy GPIB controller

    Hello

I wanted to confirm understanding licensing NI VISA.

If I use the GPIB controller OR to the USB Hi-Speed, is NEITHER VISA license are included?  488.2 NOR pilot is that CD is included along so I guess its license.

In accordance with the licensing policy as long as you are using hardware NOR the license included.

Here is the sentence that does this is clear.

"Are examples of products that include the driver NI-VISA LabVIEW, CVI, TestStand, NOR-488. 2, GPIB controllers, PXI controllers, etc. If you do not use a software or hardware, you can buy NI-VISA development software separately. »

If my understanding is 488.2 and NI-VISA OR license is included if you use the NI GPIB for Hi Speed USB controller.

    Thank you

    ANI

It's true and you can deploy a runtime of NI-VISA smaller with your executable file.

  • How can I disable the mouse pad when you use a mouse plug-and-play?

How can I disable the mouse pad when you use a mouse plug-and-play? I tried to disable the driver, and nothing works.

    Hello

Check with support of the manufacturer system, documentation online or forums that there is probably
Shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

Parameters for TouchPad located in the control panel - mouse (there may be several tabs with TouchPad entered)
and some come with a utility that loads in the Notification area next to the clock in the bottom right.

    ==========================================

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-
Click on update driver (it comes may not do anything like MS is far behind the drivers of certification), now right CLICK
    on the TouchPad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in). RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB. This does not prevent the touchpad from working.

The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

    I hope this helps.
