USB flash drive will not format

Dane Elec 16 GB USB drive flah.

When inserted, it tells me that it needs formatting. But I can not format, because somehow, it is write protected. However, there are not switch or any possibility of mechanics to remove the write protection.

I tried unlocker, formatting to ntfs (with XP, Win7, and BACK), but nothing works.

Any suggestions?

Hello

Have you tried to format your USB key, but instead to use NTFS you use FAT 32?

Click on windows start orb
type cmd and do a right click and select run as administrator
type diskpart
disc type list
Select the drive that is your USB. For example, if your USB is no disc select 2 then type 2
clean type
type create partition primary
Type format fs = fat32 quick
Type exit

Now see if it finally formatted your USB Flash drive

Kind regards

Andrew

And they work very well on other computers. Can I use bluetooth USB and a USB mouse and pregnant too much work, but the sticks of memory will not work. Also do they not appear on Device Manager. I have Service pack 3 2002 edition came with the computer.

    Hello Hasan516,

Thank you for your message.  Have you tried formatting of thumb drives?  If you have data on them, you will need to copy these data to a computer first.
If you can see the drive but not access it under XP:
Open 'My computer' > click the drive and select "format...". »
When the Format window opens, scroll down the "NTFS" file system, and select 'start '.
Please let us know if this is or is not to solve your problem.

    Hello

1 have USB flash or external drives readers have worked on your computer?
    2. what operating system is installed on your computer?

    Method 1:
You try to run the Fixit.
Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/

If you are using Windows 7, you can follow the methods mentioned below.
    Method 2:
Run the troubleshooter of material and check what is happening.
Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

    Method 3:
You can check under diskmgmt.msc, whether or not the USB received a drive letter. If not, then try to assign one and check. Follow the steps.
    (a) open computer management by clicking the Start button, clickControl Panel, clicking system and security, clickingAdministrative Tools, and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (b) in the left pane, click disk management.

    (c) if the flash drive recognized in disk management and if there is no drive letter assigned, I suggest that you do a right click on the drive and assign a drive letter.

    (d) click the drive to change and then click change drive letter and paths.

Do one of the following for the assisgn drive letter.

    • For letter an if it has not already received, clickAdd, click the letter you want to use and then click OK.
    • To change a drive letter, click change, clickassign the following drive letter, click the letter you want to use, and then clickOK.
    • To remove a drive letter, click Remove, and then clickYes to confirm that you want to remove.

    Method 4:
You can also check in the Manager of device if the device is in the list.
    a. connect the device to the computer.
    b. to open Device Manager, type devmgmt.msc in the start search box and hitEnter.
    c. check if the device drive is listed.
    d. in Device Manager, expand the device listed in the device list.
    e. If the device is listed, right click on it > click Properties.
    f. in general, look under device status for the message. After back if there is no error message.

    Method 5:
As all devices have same also have USB device associated drivers. Appropriate sometimes drivers not detected after initial installation so reinstalling the drivers can fix the problems.

You can check after uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers if you are able to connect. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:
    (a) click Start and then click Control Panel.
    (b) click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note: If the control panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
    (c) in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.
    (d) repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.
Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.
If you are still having the same problem then you can check the device USB drivers updated using windows update. See the following link for assistance.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly
If the edge of the question persists I'll ask allows you to check the chipset driver updates you find on the manufacturer's website. The chipset drivers normally integrate USB controller drivers as well.

    I hope this helps.

  • USB Flash drive does not work with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I have several USB thumb drives, some of them do not work when I plug them in while others work very well. By experimenting, I reduced the problem with the 64-bit Version Windows. All of these USB keys works well in my other computers that have 32-bit installed and also even computer with the 32-bit version installed on different hard drive. All of these thumdrives are detected immediately and works without a problem. The 64-bit version, I have uninstalles and reinstalled readers, drivers updated for readers and controllers USB chipset, reasigning letter drive without a resolution of the problem.

It is interesting to know that this problem only occurs with some discs that I (like Ativa 4 GB, 4 GB generic and Verbatim 4 GB). While I discovered that you can do all the nonworking day thumdrives work once if you shutdown computer and plug the thumdrive into the USB port and the computer to boot, boot time is longer than usual and when it is operational in 30 to 45 seconds drive appears in the list of devices and you can read, write and format normally without any problem to experiment. When you pull chase him and reconnect to USB port after 10 seconds same problem appears aggai. First of all, you get the message that the disk must be formatted and if you try to format you will get a message that windows cannot format the drive. If you try to access the drive, you get message that Drive is not accessible. If I take this player and plug it from 32-bit without problem, you see all the files in the drive and are able to read the writing and the format is normally.

I'd appreciate if I am able to get an answer as a way to solve the problem.

  • External DELL GP60N USB DVDRW drive will not play DVD

    Hello

I have a new Dell Inspiron 3531 with Windows 8.1.  The laptop came with an internal DVD/CD drive, so I bought a Dell GP60N external USB DVD - RW Drive.

When I put a DVD in the drive that the laptop recognizes it is there, but will not play regardless of how I set the automatic run settings.

I also searched drivers see if mine was outdated, but not found to contribute to the situation.

Any help from the community will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Heath

Default Windows can not decode DVD video, so you will need some reading software...

Usually, when you buy a DVD player/burner, you get with it, WinDVD or PowerDVD software for video playback and some other software if the device may also burn discs... UNLESS the material was an OEM version, which normally does not come in a box like the commercial version, then you normally get nothing...

So for now the easiest thing is to connect the drive to the laptop and then insert a DVD into the drive. Go to the Explorer, and then right-click the DVD by selecting drive open. You should now see two folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. This indicates that Windows sees DVD disc material correctly and that he also sees the files in the DVD itself... Nothing wrong up to now...

Now, go into the VIDEO_TS directory where you should see a bunch of files, a bunch of. BUP. IFO and. VOB files. The. VOB files contain the video code CSS while the. IFO files contain orders for DVD to play appropriate video channel (flow). Normally, the. IFO and. VOB files will have an affair with some reading software and double click on the VIDEO_TS. VOB file will launch the player. If the player is associated. Can manage files IFO CSS encoded DVD, playback will begin and you will hear the sound and see some video... If you have a drive associated with these types of files, usually autoplay will kick and the reading starts automatically on insertion of the DVD in your drive... But if you double-click and there is no software associated with this file extension, so there is no software associated with these files and you can't watch your DVD...

But as mentioned, Windows does not capable by default DVD playback software, so you will need to install a DVD playback software... One solution is to contact the company (Dell?) who provided the external DVD player and ask them why you do not have the comercial DVD reading and DVD software of engraving that you expected would come with your hardware, they can predict it you if she should have come in your package, or they will tell you where you can download it from...

If they won't help or they say it was hardware OEM and that it did not come with software, then consider using VLC to play your videos, as the software is free open source of quality. This page explains how to use VLC to play DVDs in Windows 8... You can also use ImgBurn for burning CDs and DVDs (not blindly just click on the buttons of large download on this web site because they are advertisements for * you need not, simply the page to the section of news where you have a download link)...

    Hi Lewiscolli,

Windows 95 (and their related components) will rise to a status not supported. After this date, Microsoft no longer provides incident support options or security updates. Microsoft does not offer an agreement of support for these products.

If you have always wanted to install Windows 95 on Windows XP, you can format the disk on which you want to install the new operating system (OS) with the help of the Windows XP disc. You can format the drive in FAT instead of NTFS format, then you can install the Windows 95 operating system using the disc.

You can follow the below mentioned article for more information:

  • Windows does not recognize the USB flash drive

    Hello
My USB does not work when I plug. It seems that Windows recognizes the device because it is found in the Solution Explorer window, but if I want to create a folder or a file on the USB key I have the following message:
    "Cannot find this article.
It is no longer in < %3="" null :="" optext=""> . Check the location of the components and try again. " < br=""> also the files that are copied to the USB flash drive are not visible in Explorer and it looks like the drive is empty.

I want to emphasize that the same (Kingston) USB flash drive works perfectly under Windows XP operating system on another computer so it may not be a problem with the device. The same problem also appears when you use a different USB (another manufacturer).

    Thank you!

    Hey, 101 a.

, I just posted a fix I found for my USB flash/go to work again.  It was a very simple solution, too.

I unplugged all USB devices first, then tried my USB jump drive again.  IT WORKED! I've narrowed the problem to the new printer that I use.  It's a Mono Dell Laser MFP 1125.  Whenever it is plugged into a USB port, my USB doesn't work.  All other devices work, but not the USB is the printer is connected

I don't know what done to block the flash/USB key, but unplug printer allows the jump command to work again.  I will contact Dell on what did the printer driver to block the flash player.  Just an info on the fix I found.
