USB in UN vsphere virtual machine

Hola

Ha I think have changed the history of los usb en vsphere. Antes yo necesitaba tener UN 'Dynamic usb' external, instalar a software en the Máquina y virtual "mapearle" el usb than quiera ese concentrador, con esto the Máquina virtual veia ese usb.

Ahora veo en the Máquina virtual own that I can add a usb.

¿quiere decir esto as puedo mapear UN usb directly a Máquina esa?, TR're asi do not're arriesgado pinchar UN usb en el servidor how eso?, o simplemente el tema are are no me haria falta instalar any software fr the virtual machine?

¿alguna ajala sober esto?

Gracias

Hola Akumal,

Como comenta nuestro gran amigo y gran profesional Pablo, VMware ESX/ESXi no virtualizacion hace USB - yet. Perhaps in a futuro no muy haga lo lejano.

  • Access to the BlackBerry through the USB port on the virtual machine VMWare

I have my development environment configuration in VMWare virtual machine, and I have no problems of deployment of BlackBerry applications on a simulator that runs as another virtual machine. The problem starts when I try deploying to the device via the USB port. The address is assigned when the mode of development on the device is not accessible from the VM, but only from my host, who do me any good, since as I said my IDE is in the virtual machine. A way to solve this problem? I can still deploy to the device via wi - fi (which is btw access via different ip - one given by the network) by this can sometimes be slow depending on the strength of the signal, etc, so I prefer to be able to deploy via the USB port.

Just in case anyone has the same problem, how to activate must, VMWare Player click on the USB icon (to the right) and choose to disconnect from the host. Connecting the USB port at the prompt. Stupid...

  • Receive error message when converting 5.1 VSphere virtual machine using VMWare Converter

I am moving some Virtual Machines out of my server for VSphere, using VMWare Converter. When I select the source of success and the machine then I get a "failed to get hardware information for the selected computer". I tried two different machines. One is a Windows 7 and the other is a Windows Server 2003. The end of the game is to move them to a server with only VMWare Workstation.

The research I've seen some users corrected it by changing the OS of the VM, but that did not help me. I have attached the diagnostic logs. Any help is appreciated.

You must use the latest version of Converter 5.0.1 - 5.0 does not work

  • Using a USB dongle on a virtual machine in a HA cluster

I need to install software on a virtual machine in ESX 4.0 cluster, which requires a USB dongle to be fixed in order to run in non-evaluation mode. I just came across a product called AnywhereUSB which seems to be supported by VMware. Can anyone tell if they used this product, it's all good and I'm still going to be able to have this quick vMotioning of VMS, as is currently?

Yes. You will be able to VMotion VM with USB over IP solution.

Assuming that you have enough free disk space on the host ESXI 5.1 data store, I suggest you that you load the multiextent module as shown in the link, I posted and then clone the virtual disk using the vmkfstools command line utility.

    vmkfstools 'Windows w2k3.vmdk'-i 'clone.vmdk' slim-d - an ide

    vmkfstools EI 'Windows w2k3.vmdk' 'old.vmdk '.

    vmkfstools EI "clone.vmdk" "Windows w2k3.vmdk".

The first line of the clones of the virtual disk in a virtual drive put in service end format, and the following two lines renaming virtual disks, so that you can delete the "old*.vmdk" files once the VM works as expected.

Alternatively, you can also run the commands on the host ESXi 4.1 and then copy the new files hard again to avoid loading the multiextent module in the new host.

  • Devices 6210 USB in a virtual machine using

    Hello

I have a NI 6210 usb device which I want to use in a virtual machine running in Sun's VirtualBox.

The host operating system is Vista, the operating system in the virtual XP machine.

It seems as if between the two OS USB device sharing does not work correctly.

I installed the drivers fpr the 6210 in both the host and the guest operating system.

The device is correctly detected in the host operating system.

What I want to do is use the usb device in the virtual machine only, there no need to be available in the host operating system.

But when I run the virtual machine, it seems as if the usb toggle device between the host and OS invited frequently, i.e. in a second, it appears in the host operating system, in the next second it appears in the guest OS. Is there a way to "turn off" the device usb in the OS, host so that it can be used exclusively by the guest operating system?

I also tried to use Windows7 as the host operating system but with the same result as described above.

  • How to make a visible USB hard disk for a virtual machine on ESXI 4.1?

    Hi all

As I am new to the world of vmware ESXI, I always make mistakes or I don't undertand all therefore be complete :-).

So I have a HP Proliant ML 350 G6 Server installed with ESXI 4.1 and I want to connect a USB hard disk to a virtual machine (SBS 2K 8). Currently, the virtual machine is not able to see the hard drive.

I already add a USB controller to the virtual machine, but my USB HARD drive is still not visible to my virtual machine.

    Can you help on that?

    Thank you

    Michael

Next, add a USB device to the virtual computer (in the change settings tab), there are different things, USB controller and USB devices. Sometimes, you may have to restart the virtual machine.

    Dear all,

I had a work around for this problem. By adding "usb.autoConnect.device0 ="0xVID:0xPID"" this statement to the VMX file, solves this problem, that is, whenever the VM is wake-up by clicking on the link CV or using vmrun commands, it connects the unit in question automatically and it is charging correctly with his driver. Obtaining smart card detected after sleep\hibernate with no problems.

VID & PID is respective ID of the device that can be seen in the properties of the Device Manager "Device Instance path".

  • Cannot RDP into virtual machine after the reboot

    Hi all

    I use VMware ESXi4.0

I'm having a problem where if I reboot a virtual machine, once it restarts I try to use the Remote Desktop Connection Manager to access and receive this error:

"The connection cannot be completed because the remote computer that has been reached is not the one that you specified.  This could be caused by an outdated entry in the DNS cache.  Try using the IP address of the computer instead of the name. »

The current machine I noticed the error is Windows 7 but also for me Server 2008.  not sure if this relevant.  I can still access the machine through vSphere, but not Remote Desktop.  When I ping the name of the machine as well as IP address, they both similar deadlines.

I checked my DC for dns entries, and they are there for this computer as well as in the reverse lookup zones.  I tried to do a/flushdns and / registerdns on the virtual machine.

I would usually have for this problem to connect to vSphere virtual machine, then RDCM is there to connect.

I saw another post on this topic in the forum, but he had a solution. This post is here > http://communities.vmware.com/message/1304004

I tried the recommendations here and they did not help.

Any ideas on what I can try?
